 It was a 2 day suspension because I thought he might calm down after the race actually happened, the second account was created from the same ip# and I wouldn't have noticed it as quickly as I did if it had not immediately been used to post in this very same thread and both are now suspended for much much longer.

 Yes the site logs the ip of everyone, all the time, automatically. Its how we catch most scammers. The suspension system is coded in hours, below 5000 and people can still send messages, 5000 or more they cannot, and the system maxes out in 2038 regardless of how many hrs you stick.

 To clear any missunderstandings...

Jeff444 had two previous warnings (from different mods) and a previous suspension already when i decided to issue him another warning and suspension of two days thinking once race weekend is over he might calm down and stop calling sam hill names just to stir the pot. It is possible to be pro smith or atherton or peat without making an fool of yourself. He then went and making statements to me in PMs and created a new account to get around the suspension and immediately came in here to post some more (as HitItHardee) and so i upped the suspension to six weeks. He then went completely off the deep end and that got the 25 year suspension. It was like reading the rantings of a drunken sailor.

 Thats what i thought ELWOOD. I guess the UCI standings aren't updated though. Their numbers were still off by a considerable amount on the update the 17th September. I did not see a -17 point stand for Smith.
But from the info we have been given over the past week, it would stand to reason that Smith just took the overall lead in points! he did get +20 over Gee after qualys.

 Whoa whoa whoa, ok I'm Canadian and all and I really want Smith to win(with these qualifying results he's so far #1 in the overall) but Peaty at #8. Now at 39 years old that is an amazing accomplishment. I'm 46 and still do DH but Peaty at 39 and still in the top 20(in the world) is flabbergasting.

 Downhill biking still not getting the recognition it deserves in the international spotlight but with the likes of Smith, Atherton(s),Peaty, Hill ,Hannah(s),Minnar,Bronson Ratboy ,Gwinn, the list goes on they are working hard (kudos to all riders). This sport needs to explode. Spread the word!

 there's no other sport that comes to mind where guys and girls put themselves at risk of so much serious injury for so little monetary gain or "fame", or spend more of their own money doing it than DH riding, and even MMA fighters don't get the injuries DHer's do.
while it would be great for more money and recognition to come into the sport ("explode") there's also tons of BS that comes along w/ that.

 @Malathion: I completely agree. However, the right sort of growth within and success of DH will lead to more sustainability and ultimately, more positive growth. I think we're going to have to be careful though, or it'll end up like snowboarding is now; super fast growth and a fast peak (within 20 years), and then a free fall. But most 'extreme' (god, I hate that word) sports have a pattern of growth that looks like that -- semi-slow acceptance and mainstream rate, sudden explosion and steady growth, then it suddenly dies out. The only difference in successful, sustainable sports and the ones that suffer are the people within. I suppose we're all about to find out what sort of future DH has.

 I'd be happy with that top three order for the finals. As exciting as the Geevie race for champ is,Sick Mick is a rider who has worked his ass off, been consistent, and always seems to have a good attitude. It would be cool to see him take the top spot at the end of the season. Hoping for Stevie to take the overall, but at the same time being mindful that both guys have worked really hard and should be excited for either. Really just excited to watch the race.

 So this means going into the final it's Steve ahead by 3 points, right? That's even closer than 2010 between Gee and Minaar, looks like Gee doesn't care for peace of mind and they just want to give the World Cup all the excitement possible, with Mick Hannah in the middle come finals time. Should be a pretty intense final round for the first time in the last three seasons!

 Be Interesting for sure, gee was i this position a few years back with minnaar so he knows the one race pressure of the worldcup title he also has that world title. I have to wonder if his experience in this high stakes time will pay off. I'm a massive gee fan but I also like smith so who ever takes it ill be stoked, I'd like to see smith be rewarded for all his hard work and win yet with so many more years left I'd equally like to see gee take the title. Either way for the race ill be going for sik mick, his Aussie but more importantly his a rider that hasn't really gotten the results his capable of or deserves. Absolute too bloke too. Women's, keen for rachel big fan of hers. Bummer she had a 12th at mont Saint anne she's dominated the season. I think its interesting how gwin got so much exposure for dominating yet rachel hasn't had much at all, I believe she has only lost one race this season and she's also destroyed qualifying. Girls need some more props.

 Rachel probably hasnt had the coverage like gwin because she's a women and media is a bit biased towards men in sport. The mens field is much tighter and with so many more riders. The time between second and third may be half a second so smashing it by 6 is impressive. If theres 10 seconds between the girls in second and third and the winner is ten seconds ahead it doesnt look as impressive. I'd love to see as many entrants in the womens so that rachel could prove she is so far ahead of everyone witj the same amount of riders as the mens. She then may get more recognition which is truly deserved.

 Yeah it's pretty unfair for the women the little coverage they get. Even if the field was bigger the times would be the same up top. The whole female dh racers field is smaller in general at all levels, even I we had more entrants I'd still expect the top 10 to contain the same riders. And rachel has been destroying it. Regardless if men are faster the women are still pushing thier limits. It is sad to see the bias towards men so heavily weighed but even then the men don't get any recognition outside of the riding community so I gess as a whole the sport is very under recognised. Easily one of the most involved and vastly highly trained and varrible sports in the world with minimal margin.

 Troy Brosnan is finding some late season form by the looks too with some top 10 qualis and finishes, I think next year is going to be a good chance for him to really shine.

 Top 80 qualify. Q on the far right of the list means qualified. A p to the far left on the list means protected. Which means they are in no matter what position they qualify in. Kovarik just missed againFrown

 Last I checked 80 qualify but the 20 protected riders sometimes mean you could qualify top 80 but still get bumped from finals.

 I have no idea what the spread of points between each place are. Going in it was dependent on how they qualified. I mean what if they both crash and finish Gee finishes 25th and Stevie 26th? What is the spread of pints that far down? Obviously if they both finish high 3 points is meaningless, my question was more about the odd situation where they both have problems.

 Stevie received 50 points and Gee 30 so Stevie is up by 3 points now. Plates are based on UCI ranking not World Cup ranking so Gee would still have the number one plate though.
