The Limited Edition Tracer T275C DVO

Intense Cycles is proud to share a special project that we have been working on with DVO Suspension, the Limited Edition Tracer 275C DVO. It will be shown live April 16 through April 19 at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, cycling’s North American season opener. This special limited edition bike will be available at Intense dealerships by the last week of April.

The Limited Edition Tracer 275C DVO allows Intense Cycles to offer Interbike’s 2014 Bike of the Year, the Tracer 275C, in a special ride package featuring DVO's race-tuned suspension. With a special design customized to highlight the new DVO Trail suspension system - a Diamond Fork with 160mm of travel and the Jade coil rear shock - this bike gives riders a completely different feel than the standard specified air shock.

Intense Tracer DVO

Riders experience a more supple ride, increased traction and superior big hit performance because with the Jade coil rear shock, the first 50mm of travel - or “sag” - is much more active than air. The rear coil shock also allows for a more active suspension that keeps the rear tire in contact with the ground to increase traction. And when compared with an air shock, a coil shock provides a more linear feel though the travel. Big hits feel controlled as the bike cycles through its travel, especially when bottomed out. The unique DVO system allows the rider to dial in the suspension feel while on the go for that perfect race tune tailored to each ride.

Like our 951 EVO DVO bike we shared with you last fall, the Tracer DVO is not just a simple spec change but a bike designed around this special suspension system. We used the SRAM XO/X1 drivetrain combination with green highlights on the cranksets and derailleurs, Stan's Flow wheels with matching green color hits, a stunning black and green Tracer carbon frame using high-gloss green paint to match the DVO components. We chose a Renthal cockpit, Maxxis High Roller II tires, Rock Shox Reverb adjustable post and Shimano XT brakes.

This bike is another example of Intense's commitment to making high-performance bikes with a stunning finish. Intense will build 250 of these bikes and no more.

 Renthal looks dumb on it
  • 97 3
I think a spank oozy in green and black with RF atlas stealth's would look pretty good on it.
  • 19 2
yeah right doesn't even match the other colors
  • 14 3
I guess they cant make "limited edition" bars for probably 8k$ bike.
  • 26 0
RF already has a limited edition green and black atlas. It just doesn't make sense.
  • 30 8
Big style points! Renthal takes away from it for sure. I'd throw on a Chromag BZA, Deity Black Label or Dirty 30, RaceFace SixC....before that Renthal. No offense but IMO Spank and Ozzy are ridiculous names, sounds like a Gangster masturbating.
  • 11 0
What? You don't spank your oozy? I do agree though, they could have chosen a little better name.
  • 26 5
 Spank is a brilliant name.
  • 3 0
Could have went with something other than oozy though. Kinda makes me giggle. But, I can't say much as I ordered the red and black 50mm oozy.

Not sure about the stem but even though handlebars may look weird on it, they yield the best handlebar geometry ever made. I have never ever put my hands on something offering such aggresive position yet at the same time being comfy for all day rides. Then compliance and weight for their Lite bar is fantastic, you have to want carbon bar real hard to not go for this one.

I'd say those disgusting XT brake covers take away much more. I personally threw away XT brakes A-for too snappy feel B-for disgusting looks C-for typial Shimano brake pads issues

So if you don't like Renthal - do you even moto bro?
  • 20 1
I like renthal, just not on this bike. It throws off the whole black and green color scheme going on.
  • 13 0
I bet it goes like a mofo with that coil shock. I reckon coil shocks are coming back and a lot more people are going to start using them on this kind of bike. Grip, reliability, comfort. Coil is the way to go. On this bike they should have gone for a spank or rf bar though, or at least a black bar
  • 10 0
Even if they had to put renthal parts on they could have put on renthal fatbar lite carbon and the renthal apex stem on; it'd look a lot better like that.
  • 8 4
renthal spoiled it. should have went for those green hope brakes instead XT
  • 12 1
The BEST LOOKING Intense I have seen since the M1
  • 19 13
 renthal never looks dumb
  • 15 6
Looks are valid and everything but I can't believe they put the best bars around on it and still it's not good enough. Since when did a bike have to entirely match? When you used to have to do it yourself, even colour coding to the level on display here would raise an eyebrow or two. Now? We'll have it all colour coded please, matching enduro shorts and a green handbag to go with it.

I would ride it like it is.. to me those bars scream 'we don't need to match'.

Also.. sick stem. Isn't the new one? If they'd released them the other way round, you'd want this one!
  • 24 9
At least there's no Monster Wankergy logo on it
  • 4 0
The rest of the bike looks pretty awesome !
  • 1 3
 Carbon Burgtec all the way!
  • 3 1
 I WANT ONE!!!
  • 5 2
Renthal is acceptable just cause its Renthal, would be nice if it tied in more but thats the price of quality!
  • 5 1
If you are an actual potential customer I'm sure you could work something out with your dealer to swap out the bars or subtract a bit and buy whatever your little heart desires. Cool to see 2 brands team up like this, great looking bike.
  • 5 0
@joz I don't think you can buy green hope kit unfortunately... it's pro only as far as I know
  • 8 1
Shimano XTs may not be for everyone but hardly a brake to throw away. In fact for their price they are a steal.
I have tried many different brands (including Hope) and my XTR Trails are my all time favourite.
Silly simple to bleed too.
  • 2 0
How about some nice Sixc cranks and bars.

For the record, Renthal never looked dumb on anything.

 Until now!

I currently run a DVO Jade on my Carbine 29. VPP Bikes do very well with a coil in the rear... My typical ride includes a minimum of 1,500 ft of climbing. Pedal to the top of my local DH trail and bomb down, hit all the jumps and drops on a 29" trail bike. I have no issue pedaling the bike + 3K ft in a day! Coil actually climbs technical terrain better than air in my opinion... Sure it heavier but I have no issue keeping up with buddies that ride Air... Its all in what your looking for!
  • 2 0
Apex stem instead of a Duo that beyotch is way too long, carbon Renthal Fat bar and Renthal done right, yeah boi...
  • 2 0
@mike d I also run coil on my trail bike and it bobs a bit but I don't really care since I'm all about the downs anyway. No one would notice the extra 400gm but the increase in performance over air is very noticeable. At least for me on my bike vs my 1st generation Monarch Plus RC3 it was.
  • 1 0
50mm Apex Stem looks rad !
  • 2 0
aint nothing wrong with the colour of the Renthals, theyve been this colour for donkeys years... its the colour of the bike and DVO that's wrong.
  • 1 0
Maybe at least some green stem spacers since theres like 35mm of them haha
  • 2 0
Maybe a set of DVO color-matched CG edition Production Privee bar/stem: www.production-privee.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=13241130

  • 9 0
If you read the small print, Spec already owns that too.
  • 2 0
 Clarkeh.... Genius.
  • 24 2
so its not s simple spec change, its designed around the suspension???? and then there is a list showing that it is in-fact its a spec change.....

Way to go marketing dept..
  • 8 2
The real question is, did he pedal to the top of that on a coil?
  • 9 0
No you can shuttle that trail. haha
  • 7 0
I could count a total of 8 pedal strokes on the video!!!
  • 5 0
I'd pedal it up no prob
  • 8 1
I pedal my tracer around everywhere with this suspension. Feels fine. Just have to push a lil harder on the climbs
  • 2 0
Coil shock = boat anchor apparently. Wish my Enduro could have a coil shock : (
  • 2 3
Coil just sucks to pedal. I just find it an odd match for this bike. If you're going to shuttle to downhill it, why not a 951 Evo? If you're going to climb it, why not an air shock?
  • 4 0
Because properly set up trail bikes are winning races that have dh bikes in them. Trails arent black and white and neither are peoples riding styles/preferences.
  • 3 1
Oh yeah, I forgot, enduro uphills aren't timed.
  • 2 0
i pedal my specialized status (single crown) a lot and its not that bad you just can't be a bitch. I'm racing a couple of enduro races on tithes year.
  • 20 5
I must be one of the few riders who hate Renthal cockpits. Their bars are too straight, their stems creak and together they both look really shit.
  • 5 4
The bars are amazing and the combo looks awesome, IMO. But yes, the Duo stem creaks - I wonder if the Apex is any better?
  • 6 1
I've had 2 and neither creaked
  • 3 0
My Apex has been awesome for the past few months, I have nothing bad to say about it other than that it's a sweet stem overall.
  • 3 0
I've got two Duo stems and neither creak!
  • 14 4
this bike NEEDS some Enve wheels with the green decals on green Chris king hubs and maybe a handleabr to match the wheels and then it would be perfect
  • 10 1
The bike and I have so much in common!
  • 9 0
And Boost 148 so it's not already obsolete..... Too soon??
  • 1 0
EXACTLY! Just ordered mine and will be looking to get some enve's soon, have some 29 m70's to sell, already have a enve cock pit, with new renthal updated stem (im too excited to remember the model name) hope brakes for it and xx1 with RF next SL or get some six6 cranks for it and a new green oval sprocket and it will be perfect.
  • 1 0
sounds awesome @ktmrider173, post a pic when it's done Wink
  • 11 0
Just a random survey, how many of you would like to work for R&D Shimano?
  • 4 2
 I'd rather be on Tippie's R&D team.
  • 3 0
I use their components and alot of their fishing gear, sign me up. I'll take XTR Di2 and a Stella as part of my signing bonus.
  • 1 0
dont you mean on his R&D without the research ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
(I`m sorry, I know it was a terrible joke)
  • 11 4
MTBs are like fashion models these days- yeah the black and green looks great but I'd be more comfortable riding it if it was less well coordinated- it looks like you're trying so hard to look cool when at the end of the day you're riding a push bike. It's a bit too much imo- like Gucci designed it or something.
  • 1 0
no not really but i see what you mean, with an oval sprocket and a reach down to the compression settings i dont see it being too hard to climb, ill know soon as i just ordered mine.
  • 6 0
who gives a shit about colour schemes and which parts would give it a better look. you lot sound like a bunch a little girls talking about handbags and hair dye. When did bikes become a fashion statement? Just ride the f*cking things.
  • 8 1
Looks great but the renthal bar and stem combo have to go! It just doesn't match! I wonder what the price tag will be for this beast?
  • 9 1
That is a dam good looking bike
  • 5 0
everyone saying it needs new bars and wnvy wheels youre wrong. i've seen the bike in person and it's extremely nice looking. the renthal setup kept it from having too much green.
  • 4 0
Marketing gimmick. If you talk to DVO they'll tell you their stuff doesn't outperform other premium suspension; DVOs main point of differentiation is that a local bike shop can custom tune your shim stack instead of shipping it to a factory. The value of DVO is versatility, so it doesn't make sense to me as an OEM spec. There's so few people who want quick access to their shim stack outside serious competition.

+1 for more coil trail/am bikes though (if it makes sense with the suspension design)
  • 3 0
Maybe that's why its limited edition though... Shim level trail tuning is an interesting idea though!
  • 2 0
They're only making 250 of them, Limited Edition. For sure it's marketing. It's like buying a TRD Tacoma, most don't need it but it looks cool. Also, those who want coil shock, and a matching green paint job will jump at it. I'm sure the casual Enduro racer or the wealthy Cali fashionista will be all over this.
  • 3 1
@DirtyMartini: Shim stack tuning is an option but with all the adjustments (OTT, Low-high Speed Compression, Rebound) you can pretty much externally tune the fork to your hearts desire. Cheers, DVO!
  • 9 3

"Riders experience a more supple ride, increased traction and superior big hit performance because with the Jade coil rear shock, the first 50mm of travel - or “sag” - is much more active than air. The rear coil shock also allows for a more active suspension that keeps the rear tire in contact with the ground to increase traction. And when compared with an air shock, a coil shock provides a more linear feel though the travel. Big hits feel controlled as the bike cycles through its travel, especially when bottomed out."

So is the regular Tracer's suspension is uncontrolled rubbish then? ;-)
  • 3 0
Well, lets be real here: Coil does still have a performance advantage over air, but this isn't coil for that reason, it's coil because their air shock isn't available yet. I think quite a few people who ride 6" bikes would actually benefit from running a coil. What DVO could do that would REALLY show they think coil is a good fit for this bike: give it a compression lever like every air shock has, so we can firm up the suspension for climbs. heck, with the way their damping stack can be replaced, make it a optional cartridge that comes standard with this bike. THAT would impress me.
  • 6 1
Actually if our Topaz air shock was available they probably would have spec'ed it in place of the Jade. But, Intense also had the option to spec other manufacturer's air shocks too. After testing the Jade on the Tracer they felt the performance was superior and the weight penalty was worth it so they decided on this spec. Cheers, DVO

Renthal is the best These guys are socal where moto rules the land People who run pro tapers back in the day will understand Mtb industry is fortunateRenthal is gracious enough to make us bars of mystical compliance and amplitude
  • 2 0
I can't afford to have this for sure $$$$$ but I wll make my Tracer 2 the same color that only I can do. So far my Tracer 2 is Black and White
  • 3 0
This bike epitomises that the MT in MTB doesnt stand for mountain but instead marketing.
  • 3 0
great - now I'm going to have to go out and put a coil shock on my bike so I can align with the resurgent mtb trends.
  • 3 0
soooo hot.. want to touch the hiney.
  • 3 0
The Duo is still in the current product line.
  • 5 1
 Boiiinnnggg!
  • 10 10
I know they're meant to be good but am I the only person that things the dvos look cheap in that green? They look like something from walmart. They suck.. just black would be better.
  • 4 4
 agreed
  • 9 0
They do it in just black
  • 2 0
Yes, we do make an all black version too.
  • 3 0
will this mark the return of the coils in shocks and forks?
Pike anyone?
  • 11 0
This wouldn't be sporting a coil shock if DVO's air shock was finished. Nevertheless, i can see a comeback for ti-springs in forks, I love that Marzocchi gives you the option on the 350 and I've seen quite a few people that modded their Pikes and Mattocs. It would be great to have more dedicated coil options from major manufacturers without the additional seals required for air forks. I'd gladly accept a weight penalty of 300 grams for better small bump compliance and a proper spring curve.
  • 2 1
I still ride coil front and rear, Van 36 and DHX 5 with ti coil. I don't mind the slight weight penalty, and it works soooo good. If I need less supple rear suspension for uphills or roads, I can always crank up the pro pedal.
  • 4 2
Is everyone high?! That Renthal bar and stem looks shit hot on there....keeps it from being OG. Over Green.
  • 2 0
IMO That bike needs a different cockpit, a Thomson stealth dropper and carbon hoops. The DVO stuff looks great on it though.
  • 1 0
 Thanks!
  • 2 1
Intense Tracer T275 Carbon in the Pro build weighs 28 pounds (12.7kg) and the DVO version weighs 30.5 pounds (13.8kg)?? Is coil really that much heavier??
  • 7 1
 Just poop before you ride
  • 2 0
I think the Pro build included the ENVE wheels too, but yes the coil is about 200+ grams heavier when compared to the air shock.
  • 1 0
my xo1 build t275 is 28lbs w/o carbon wheels. the factory build with enve's is a little lighter.
  • 2 0
I don't care what ya'll think -- that bike looks amazing. Oh, the dirty things I would do to you.....

  • 3 3
I love how the industry is slowly admitting that air shocks suck compared to coil after pushing their benefits for so long.
  • 6 1
Orrrr they're not?? If DVO made an air shock it would be on here. And air shocks don't suck?
  • 2 0
Air shocks are getting better and bette in design but for pure performance the coil is unmatched, even when climbing.
  • 1 0
That's cool to hear coming from you guys! I choose air mainly Because I like the lighter weigh and haven't had issues with them (never had an issue with coils either). Plus im a light guy so I like being able to fiddle with the psi instead of having to change the whole spring.

I was actually going to get a jade for my build but it wasn't available at the time.
  • 2 0
Awesome pm148, we look forward to having you on our product, the Jade in 200x57 for the Tracer will be coming in soon! Keep in touch with s for any set-up or tuning advice, we are here to help!
  • 1 0
Nothing beats coil-sprung suspension. Air is way better, but it's not there yet (at least anything I've ridden, maybe the latest tech is closer to coil).
  • 1 0
I've been baffled by why companies are bothering with air shocks for dh bikes, even enduro bikes(aside from the obvious time to sell something new thing). They produce so much heat and extra friction, that air chamber is literally a little furnace wrapped around the damper fueled by kinetic engergy. The weight savings seem negligible, especially now that bikes are all sub 35lbs even for DH.
  • 1 0
Well, we know where 250 of those shocks and forks will go to.
  • 1 0
