Those boardwalk berms... quite the ‘Gee’ out!

P.S. no more body cam shots during track previews please?! I get that there’s a dude riding his bike, don’t care what he looks like going down the track, I care what the track looks like. $.02
Cheers.

Gee'd up from the feet up
  • 23 0
Agree! In fort bill the body cam was even more insistent
  • 14 3
I have a feeling the body cam shots are here to stay. Gotta get in as much advertising as possible.

PB should put this on the front page

Always think of Will Longdens crash a few years back following Claudio on the preview just after the wall rides at 2:48 when I see that section.

3:17 for those who never saw it

@VPS13: man GoPros have come a long way!
  • 3 3
I'd make a guess that the body shots are for when the gopro's stabalization cant keep up or misses a beat. Gopro doesnt want to show shaky footage on their brand new hypersmooth camera. That being said the footage on the new gopro is incredible so I may be wrong here!
  • 3 1
^^ This! The track, not the dude! Smile
  • 1 0
@VPS13: I was thinking about that crash watching Gee go through there
  • 1 0
@VPS13: Wow. I also forgot how shaky the videos used to be.
  • 2 0
I would prefer the chest view , direct from the heart
  • 10 1
it was 2 seconds of body cam, now. They got the message. relax.
  • 3 0
 @VPS13: same. every single time!
  • 1 0
Put in on the chain stay.

@ccolagio: Fair play to Propain Bikes for dropping a grand in to the kitty. Good to see the of the top riders in the sport contributing also, some of them probably appreciate the effort and cost involved for non sponsored riders to make it to these events. Props to all
  • 2 0
 @ccolagio: good stuff mate
  • 3 0
It could be Gee hit some lines that he is trying to keep "secret" for his race runs. Both of the instances here cut away just before entering a corner so he might have found something he really liked and doesn't want to be publicly available.
  • 1 0
@VPS13: didn't someone blow up at the road gap in the course preview of Norway too?
  • 3 0
@digthehills: the name "Stans No Tubes" put in 1K too. So awesome to see!
  • 1 0
@VPS13: "i guess I forgot to transfer" that crash looked gnarly, I remember.
  • 1 0
@bruvar: quite likely or its just so they can do an edit.
  • 1 0
 Agree, shots of Gee's chest an' chin are pointless, plus you miss loads of track;
  • 1 0
Don't mind the body cam shots tbh.
  • 72 1
Gee in the bloody man. Anyone who previously criticized him for not being personable needs to rethink, anyone who can have that kinda of insight while riding Mach 10 is a beauty in my books.
  • 6 0
crank er up to MACH Chicken
  • 16 1
I never understood the stereotype about him. I remember watching the Atherton Project back in the day and Gee always seemed like a good dude who liked to have fun.
  • 7 0
agreed. he makes it look fast but not so easy which is what these guys battle with every race. So cool to get these glimpses into the tracks, races and racers. Thanks GEE!

Just get on your bike and ride and stop acting like a action man superhero ! Big Grin
  • 1 4
Its funny how he tries to fake a smile at the beginning. Just let the dude be himself...a badass DH warrior.
  • 41 0
“What’s this jump like? Ooo, she’s big!”
  • 34 0
 Awesome how much description he puts in;
  • 14 17
 Yeah, respect for that.

But I kinda miss Claudio a bit - his previews were more entertaining and funny..
Gee is a machine, straight up hardcore. I mean I respect that, I do. But I miss this element of uncertainty - is he gonna crash, can he ride it alright. Oh, and most of all - the screams of joy when he nailed a line, and the singing!!!
So how about that Gee? Wink
  • 24 1
Seems like a general consensus forming that the changes to the track are "awkward." But like Gee pointed out once some lines are cut in maybe it will improve. Poor Leogang, can't win for losing. At least you've got the views!
  • 10 0
Whatever it is, but those new sections i´m sure are proper hard to ride.
Having ridden there a lot, i know what the terrain besides the track looks like and i´m sure riders have A LOT to figure out in those few tech sections.
I dislike Leogang for the bikeparky stuff too, but the new sections are so awkward, it´ll make for some interesting racing and that´s what counts.
Also some of the section are rather steep, which doesn´t translate well to GoPro.
Course is still not perfect, but imho the new taping improved things a lot.
  • 7 1
I don't mind as a spectator because it'll make it more interesting and they'll probably not show those sections on the live stream anyways because they're not flat and pedally.
  • 7 0
The things that make racers happy aren't always the same things that make for good races! "Awkward" sounds like a euphemism for "hard" and/or "slow"--should make for good TV, psyched to watch it!
  • 4 0
 @phile99:
I can totally feel why they would call it awkward.
That track in its base layout is awkward af, because you come into a section at mach 10, blast through a turn with loose over hardpack which can take you out any second, then have to brake to a crawl to make it through a turn and some roots on pretty grippy ground, then things open up again to eyewatering speeds. It feels very weird. You cannot get used to anything, things constantly change. It´s difficult to ride fast, just not too much fun as you never get things to flow. With the way they´ve taped it i can only imagine this feeling has become much more exagerated.
  • 1 3
Looks like that let a drunk teenager put up the track tape. What a half assed attempt to make it more "technical"...
  • 18 0
Holy Sh#t...Gee ..I held my breath right out of the start gate and your carrying on a conversation like your at the Pub...You Rock Man!! Smile
  • 14 0
Gee's doing a fantastic job with these and whoever did the audio setup needs a medal--incredible sound! Perfect mix of voice and tires on dirt, all crystal clear. Keep 'em coming!
  • 16 1
Say what you will about how Leogang isn't a "real" DH track, THAT LOOKS FREAKING FUN!
  • 13 0
Thanks Gee, great job as always!
  • 11 0
Nice run, Gee. Love the insights!
  • 6 0
Gee really is brilliant at doing these course previews. Would love to see him do well this week, think he deserves a bit of success again!
  • 9 4
Does anyone ever want to see the camera shot looking back at the rider or is this just some Red Bull advertising?
Show the track!
  • 2 0
It's just an alternate angle perhaps used so Gee doesn't show a line of his or maybe so they could make a cut in the edit. A first run down any WC course is likely to evoke an F-bomb or two.
  • 6 0
Fastest time training run was 20 seconds faster than this run and he looked like he was flying.... impressive.
  • 1 0
 oh wow
  • 1 1
Basically Rachel pace, give or take 7 seconds.
  • 7 2
.....onto the wall ride, these things really Gee you out........
  • 4 0
Scary to watch him ride at this pace and then see that some of the timed practice runs were around 20 seconds faster. Yikes.
  • 1 0
I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say, I just rode this track (minus some sections) and that roots section, the second chute, those jumps and the rocks at the bottom are freakin big and sketch.
Watching these guys hit it at those speeds is mind blowing.
  • 3 0
Gee's track previews are neat, they really give you a feel of the track at race pace.
  • 3 0
Finally! I've been hitting refresh all day waiting for the preview.
  • 3 0
Another episode in the masterclass of course preview!
  • 3 1
When can we just strike Leogang off the WC tour? Bring back Schladming or Champery
  • 2 0
Visually this track is a shitshow, trails and roads everywhere. Good job Gee.
  • 3 0
Such a casual conversation to have while at Mach 2.... damn!!!
  • 2 1
This track has been, and always will be, fugly. Please UCI, no more Leogang... ever.
  • 1 1
 Well said. +10000
  • 2 0
Except that each year Leogang provides one of the most exciting races of the season.
  • 1 1
@Rubberelli: When Aaron Gwin rides chainless it actually starts to be exciting, but watching DH bikes on a motorway is not my cup of tea. The rooty steep passages are interesting, but the rest is kind of slick...
  • 1 0
@Franzzz: a great race is different from a great track. The races that surprise you and make you yell out in hour living room provide the best experience. It's why it's Warner's favorite track to call each year. It's ikely that the greatest trail you have ever rode would not make for the most dramatic of races.
  • 3 0
 What's "tagging"?
  • 5 0
@IllestT : casing or coming up short
  • 3 0
He's talking about tagging the top of the table with his rear, not getting enough distance to land fully on the down slope. Basically a case.

Edit: Dang @rockchomper beat me to it,
  • 2 0
He is really great at this.......great job Gee!
  • 1 0
The man looks so fast...I don’t understand why he is not on podium. The speed is insane. Good luck to everyone on Sunday
  • 2 0
Good stuff Gee keep it up,
  • 2 0
He just needs someone to chase for the next one.
  • 9 10
WHAAA??? I though Vali said she was doing the course preview on Cathro vision? I love Gee but I was stoked for Vali..... can someone explain what happened?
  • 58 5
What happened was Gee did it and she didnt.

  • 2 1
 3:58: That's what she said
  • 2 0
 What are "bus stops" ?
  • 1 0
Someone will come along and explain it better than me, but I understand them to mean when the track takes a brief high line off the established track only to rejoin it shortly after, it mixes up the track and allows for a drop or downside to boost back onto the track
  • 1 0
basically an alternative line off the main track.
  • 1 0
A little bench that's formed on the high side of the trail you can ride off.
  • 2 1
@Whipperman think straight away at Le Mans. Bus stop is a kind of chicane where the track goes parallel to the straight away and back onto the straight away. Basically a double chicane. Like others say it is to control speed.
  • 2 2
i quite like the shots looking back. It shows how much the upper body is working
  • 1 1
This actually looks sick, I love that the riders are finding it tricky, slow and un-fun.
  • 1 0
I'm not sure he actually knows what camber is.
  • 1 0
 i miss Claudio ...
  • 1 2
“They tried to slow the track down...”

Why? Is there a legit reason?
  • 1 0
Probably Remi Thirions Crash and Loic Brunis Crash a couple of years ago?
  • 5 0
Probably because it has gotten that reputation as "bike park". So they keep adding more technical sections in.
  • 2 3
This track's changes are as waste as jeb bush
  • 1 2
Weas Vali she should of led gee out
  • 1 2
Track looks like shit, the end.
