P.S. no more body cam shots during track previews please?! I get that there’s a dude riding his bike, don’t care what he looks like going down the track, I care what the track looks like. $.02 Cheers.
I'd make a guess that the body shots are for when the gopro's stabalization cant keep up or misses a beat. Gopro doesnt want to show shaky footage on their brand new hypersmooth camera. That being said the footage on the new gopro is incredible so I may be wrong here!
@ccolagio: Fair play to Propain Bikes for dropping a grand in to the kitty. Good to see the of the top riders in the sport contributing also, some of them probably appreciate the effort and cost involved for non sponsored riders to make it to these events. Props to all
It could be Gee hit some lines that he is trying to keep "secret" for his race runs. Both of the instances here cut away just before entering a corner so he might have found something he really liked and doesn't want to be publicly available.
Gee in the bloody man. Anyone who previously criticized him for not being personable needs to rethink, anyone who can have that kinda of insight while riding Mach 10 is a beauty in my books.
I never understood the stereotype about him. I remember watching the Atherton Project back in the day and Gee always seemed like a good dude who liked to have fun.
agreed. he makes it look fast but not so easy which is what these guys battle with every race. So cool to get these glimpses into the tracks, races and racers. Thanks GEE!
But I kinda miss Claudio a bit - his previews were more entertaining and funny.. Gee is a machine, straight up hardcore. I mean I respect that, I do. But I miss this element of uncertainty - is he gonna crash, can he ride it alright. Oh, and most of all - the screams of joy when he nailed a line, and the singing!!! So how about that Gee?
Seems like a general consensus forming that the changes to the track are "awkward." But like Gee pointed out once some lines are cut in maybe it will improve. Poor Leogang, can't win for losing. At least you've got the views!
Whatever it is, but those new sections i´m sure are proper hard to ride. Having ridden there a lot, i know what the terrain besides the track looks like and i´m sure riders have A LOT to figure out in those few tech sections. I dislike Leogang for the bikeparky stuff too, but the new sections are so awkward, it´ll make for some interesting racing and that´s what counts. Also some of the section are rather steep, which doesn´t translate well to GoPro. Course is still not perfect, but imho the new taping improved things a lot.
I don't mind as a spectator because it'll make it more interesting and they'll probably not show those sections on the live stream anyways because they're not flat and pedally.
The things that make racers happy aren't always the same things that make for good races! "Awkward" sounds like a euphemism for "hard" and/or "slow"--should make for good TV, psyched to watch it!
@phile99: I can totally feel why they would call it awkward. That track in its base layout is awkward af, because you come into a section at mach 10, blast through a turn with loose over hardpack which can take you out any second, then have to brake to a crawl to make it through a turn and some roots on pretty grippy ground, then things open up again to eyewatering speeds. It feels very weird. You cannot get used to anything, things constantly change. It´s difficult to ride fast, just not too much fun as you never get things to flow. With the way they´ve taped it i can only imagine this feeling has become much more exagerated.
Gee's doing a fantastic job with these and whoever did the audio setup needs a medal--incredible sound! Perfect mix of voice and tires on dirt, all crystal clear. Keep 'em coming!
It's just an alternate angle perhaps used so Gee doesn't show a line of his or maybe so they could make a cut in the edit. A first run down any WC course is likely to evoke an F-bomb or two.
I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say, I just rode this track (minus some sections) and that roots section, the second chute, those jumps and the rocks at the bottom are freakin big and sketch. Watching these guys hit it at those speeds is mind blowing.
@Rubberelli: When Aaron Gwin rides chainless it actually starts to be exciting, but watching DH bikes on a motorway is not my cup of tea. The rooty steep passages are interesting, but the rest is kind of slick...
@Franzzz: a great race is different from a great track. The races that surprise you and make you yell out in hour living room provide the best experience. It's why it's Warner's favorite track to call each year. It's ikely that the greatest trail you have ever rode would not make for the most dramatic of races.
WHAAA??? I though Vali said she was doing the course preview on Cathro vision? I love Gee but I was stoked for Vali..... can someone explain what happened?
Someone will come along and explain it better than me, but I understand them to mean when the track takes a brief high line off the established track only to rejoin it shortly after, it mixes up the track and allows for a drop or downside to boost back onto the track
@Whipperman think straight away at Le Mans. Bus stop is a kind of chicane where the track goes parallel to the straight away and back onto the straight away. Basically a double chicane. Like others say it is to control speed.

Cheers.

Show the track!

Edit: Dang @rockchomper beat me to it,
Why? Is there a legit reason?
