 I feel like at some point we are gonna end up seeing the Rapha shoe trees in here. only 50 usd but they are aromatic cedar and have the rapha logo.

 @hamncheez those are top of the line shoes. You're paying a premium for a very good quality product.

 The BR strap is 300% awesome. Versatile and stays where you strap it, top or seat tube. Their saddle mounts are bomber too.

 I second the strap. Not having to take my pack off to stuff my jacket in it is a win.

 I have an original BR strap I found on the trail. Something I never would have considered now it's something I couldn't ride without.

 yeah their straps are awesome not to mention you can get them on a dia de los muertos pattern.

 @cookerq: I once had one...but I lost it out on the trail...it's hard to ride without it.

 Does anyone have experience with the Super 8 strap holding a water bottle? Thinking about using it inside the frame on the downtube on my Wreckoning (space available, but no cage mounts????).

 @JDFF: I am curious as well...I have an old nomad that I would love to be able to access a water bottle while riding, but no cage mounts. So hoping someone gets back to u/us!

 I know it is expensive, but the Kabolt is more expensive in Europe, so the price is not crazy.

 And when has anyone ever said " I need to replace these quick release axles because they are so unwieldy.. plus I'd rather just carry an Allen key in my pocket so I can lose it.."

 @TheDoctoRR: Whilst I agree with the sentiment (and sort of think I could knock some out for half the price) Maxles are neither cheap nor particularly long-lasting, these are lighter, simpler and more reliable (you'd hope!) As anyone who's taken a Maxle apart for servicing will attest, they don't work well when the internals are all gunked up, and servicing a set takes an hour or so.

I also reckon the vast majority of riders who would consider one of these would have a multitool somewhere on their person.

 tapered axles are a great way to break hubs that have bearings in the middle.

 There was a great article in Bicycling magazine recently about all the compounds our brain produces when exercising at peak performance. "The flow state" or something like that. I am very much addicted to mountain biking for the healthy high I get when ripping with riders of similar ability, or even trying to keep up with a more skilled rider and experiencing their take on how to ride a certain trail. I used to tap in to it at skate parks before getting in to MTB, but nothing compares to the all day trail ride with good friends and the feeling of 6" of "freshy" suspension under you at speed.

 It's just a side loading cage, would be a great fit in bikes like the Nomad that have similarly cramped bottle mount locations.

 If that was a Specialized product, there would be. I end to the outrage on Pinkbike. But because it's YT, negative props to you.

 Not really a big deal to be honest, think of it more along the lines of being astehically pleasing rather the "proprietary" garbage.

Plus it holds a beer can! What more do you want bud?! You don't like it buy a $5 dollar bottle cage from your local bike shop bud.

 yeah, i have the backcountry research strap- it's well made, but otherwise nothing to write home about. everything that can fit in a shorts pocket, goes in my pockets because its easier. everything bigger, if you put it in the strap, it just ends up rubbing your legs while you pedal

 @oneplanka: how inovative can a flat shoe be?

 @Paul7189: something other than a 'skate shoe' retread, something that is NOT 5 10. something with a lace cover to keep the elements outs. etc etc.. A shoe with ankle protection that is light and not clunky like 5 10's My only choice is 5 10 or Shimano? wrf ? how about a shoe with a integrated gaitor to keep the rain and trail detritus out... how about some flat shoe innovation ? much needed in the industry IMHO Not enough choice.

 @oneplanka: shimano and 5 10 have a huge range of different shoes. Also you can use mountaineering shoes or any other outdoor shoe for winter riding. Skate shoes are brilliant in dry weather and most features on a clipless shoe are available on flat shoes. Also a lot of clipless shoes work on flats without the cleats fitted.

 @Paul7189: Preaching to the choir mate... I have ridden heaps of different shoes. I currently ride Shimano. Been there, done that. Former 5 10 Freerider devotee.
