Finally, a proper toothbrush for my big ass teeth. And it works on my bike too.

$200 for a pair of shoes? What is this, a road bike website?
  • 7 0
I feel like at some point we are gonna end up seeing the Rapha shoe trees in here. only 50 usd but they are aromatic cedar and have the rapha logo.
  • 4 3
@hamncheez those are top of the line shoes. You're paying a premium for a very good quality product.

flag whitebullit (Feb 3, 2017 at 17:16) (Below Threshold)
close enough, their are more 29er reviews lately than downhill bikes, pinkbike took a turn for the worse.
  • 1 0
 they should call them Dee(ar)Max
  • 3 1
@whitebullit: oooooooh the sheer horror eh!
  • 26 0
Good quality brushes sound nice as does the $16 strap. I know you can have a cheaper strap rigged up but something that requires no thinky is worth $16
  • 10 0
The BR strap is 300% awesome. Versatile and stays where you strap it, top or seat tube. Their saddle mounts are bomber too.
  • 4 1
I second the strap. Not having to take my pack off to stuff my jacket in it is a win.
  • 5 0
I have an original BR strap I found on the trail. Something I never would have considered now it's something I couldn't ride without.
  • 4 1
yeah their straps are awesome not to mention you can get them on a dia de los muertos pattern.
  • 38 0
 @gooutsidetoday:
You had to take your pack off to take your jacket off, no?
  • 10 0
@cookerq: I once had one...but I lost it out on the trail...it's hard to ride without it.
  • 7 0
@SJP: damn, i feel dumb. But i do wear a hip pack a lot of the time!
  • 2 1
@gooutsidetoday: don't you have to take your pack off to take your jacket off?!
  • 2 0
@SJP @bogey @gooutsidetoday Not necessary if playing as Batman..

Does anyone have experience with the Super 8 strap holding a water bottle? Thinking about using it inside the frame on the downtube on my Wreckoning (space available, but no cage mounts????).
  • 2 0
@JDFF: I am curious as well...I have an old nomad that I would love to be able to access a water bottle while riding, but no cage mounts. So hoping someone gets back to u/us!
  • 13 0
 €45.00 (about 9 000 000$ CAD) for a Axel ? Right..
  • 4 2
I know it is expensive, but the Kabolt is more expensive in Europe, so the price is not crazy.
  • 1 0
And when has anyone ever said " I need to replace these quick release axles because they are so unwieldy.. plus I'd rather just carry an Allen key in my pocket so I can lose it.."
  • 1 0
@TheDoctoRR: Whilst I agree with the sentiment (and sort of think I could knock some out for half the price) Maxles are neither cheap nor particularly long-lasting, these are lighter, simpler and more reliable (you'd hope!) As anyone who's taken a Maxle apart for servicing will attest, they don't work well when the internals are all gunked up, and servicing a set takes an hour or so.

I also reckon the vast majority of riders who would consider one of these would have a multitool somewhere on their person.

tapered axles are a great way to break hubs that have bearings in the middle.

 Someone at Mavic loves STRYPER.!
  • 9 0
I like how that 300+ pages book probably full of knowledge is less expensive than that Endura backpack
  • 6 0
I feel like those Mavic shoes can only be worn when you have Deemax wheels!!! Why would the company be stupid enough to name two products in their lineup the exact same. Why not name the shoes something else like DeeStupid or DeeWeDontKnowIfYouWantToBuyRimsOrShoes Whip

That specialized bandit is garbage. The aluminum mount fatigued and dropped my tube into my rear wheel while flying down a chattery descent. Shop I got it from just accused me of crashing on it even though I never did. I'm pretty sure it's because the weight of the tube is at the end of the piece of aluminum just bending itself back and forth on every bump.
  • 8 1
661 thanks for continuing to keep it real and in reach w your pricing
  • 7 1
People are addicted to exercising? If I had an addiction, it would be the exact opposite of that.
  • 3 1
There was a great article in Bicycling magazine recently about all the compounds our brain produces when exercising at peak performance. "The flow state" or something like that. I am very much addicted to mountain biking for the healthy high I get when ripping with riders of similar ability, or even trying to keep up with a more skilled rider and experiencing their take on how to ride a certain trail. I used to tap in to it at skate parks before getting in to MTB, but nothing compares to the all day trail ride with good friends and the feeling of 6" of "freshy" suspension under you at speed.
  • 6 0
Man, the review on those detailing brushes is going to be amazing!!
  • 4 0
well played YT. make your frame so it doesn't take a standard waterbottle, then sell "the only one that fits" the frame for $60…
  • 1 0
It's just a side loading cage, would be a great fit in bikes like the Nomad that have similarly cramped bottle mount locations.
  • 1 0
you know what's weird with the "giro chamber shoes" is that in most of the pics we see of aaron gwin he is rocking black shoes with a white sole color scheme, which is the color scheme they offer with their flat pedal shoe, "the giro jacket" (but we all know he runs clipless) yet their chamber shoe is only available as "Black/Gum, Blue Jewel/Gum". yes aaron you are special.
  • 4 0
wow, nothing i would even consider buying. excellent, good month.
  • 3 0
Shovel chainguide are the best , i use them Snoc two years
  • 1 0
 +1 for the Giro shoes.

Have used them for 2 years almost daily for commuting and trail riding. Worth the bucks and comfortable walking around.
  • 2 0
Actually the best check out in a while. The 661 gear looks awesome albeit a bit overpriced

"The Haywire Heart"- how too much exercise can kill you..........oh great................"The Not Breathing Thing"- how suffocating yourself can kill........yourself
  • 1 0
The Super 8 strap is a simple design that truly works like a champ. One of the least expensive, yet helpful additions to my bike.
  • 12 11
Those YT bottles.... what a joke! Proprietary mount and bottle size.. yet another reason I'm glad I went Hightower.
  • 9 12
If that was a Specialized product, there would be. I end to the outrage on Pinkbike. But because it's YT, negative props to you.
  • 3 0
Gotta give props of the name at least.
  • 3 2
Not really a big deal to be honest, think of it more along the lines of being astehically pleasing rather the "proprietary" garbage.

Plus it holds a beer can! What more do you want bud?! You don't like it buy a $5 dollar bottle cage from your local bike shop bud.

Take her for a rip eh
  • 5 1
Doesn't say it'll only fit the Jeffsy. I just says "it's the only bottle holder that will fit the Jeffsy frame"
  • 1 0
@tigerteeuwen: I don't think the words Only mount that fits got to you
  • 3 0
 Chainguide looks solid
  • 2 0
 under 300 LOL
  • 1 0
Course I guess $109 for a shoe is competitive these days
  • 1 0
Love the strap idea. Perfect for cold morning starts.
  • 1 0
Shovel chainguides are like a fine vintage wine.
  • 6 9
Of all the cool stuff back country research does you pick the most stupid one? had me seriously wondering why? till I saw the retarded specialized strap. #definitelynotpaidbybigbrotherS
  • 1 0
yeah, i have the backcountry research strap- it's well made, but otherwise nothing to write home about. everything that can fit in a shorts pocket, goes in my pockets because its easier. everything bigger, if you put it in the strap, it just ends up rubbing your legs while you pedal
  • 2 4
Where are the flat pedal shoes ?
  • 9 1
661 Filter Shoes - it's right above. Black and red things. Stick out quite obviously.
  • 1 0
 innovative ones then.
  • 2 0
@oneplanka: how inovative can a flat shoe be?
  • 2 0
@Paul7189: something other than a 'skate shoe' retread, something that is NOT 5 10. something with a lace cover to keep the elements outs. etc etc.. A shoe with ankle protection that is light and not clunky like 5 10's My only choice is 5 10 or Shimano? wrf ? how about a shoe with a integrated gaitor to keep the rain and trail detritus out... how about some flat shoe innovation ? much needed in the industry IMHO Not enough choice.
  • 1 0
@oneplanka: shimano and 5 10 have a huge range of different shoes. Also you can use mountaineering shoes or any other outdoor shoe for winter riding. Skate shoes are brilliant in dry weather and most features on a clipless shoe are available on flat shoes. Also a lot of clipless shoes work on flats without the cleats fitted.
  • 2 0
@Paul7189: Preaching to the choir mate... I have ridden heaps of different shoes. I currently ride Shimano. Been there, done that. Former 5 10 Freerider devotee.
