by Pivot Cycles

Get ready to laugh as Eddie Masters gets fat and shows why size is the only thing that really matters on the new Pivot Cycles LES Fat.

Eddie's Video is Just for Fun But the New LES Fat is the Real Deal

There is nothing quite like the feeling of floating over a thin layer of freshly fallen snow or the sense of adventure you feel exploring miles of canyon sand-washes on a fat bike. Soft conditions and riding where most folks walk may be the stereotypical use of a fat bike, but the fun doesn’t end there, not when you’re riding a Pivot Les Fat. The fat bike created for year-round riding is back and better than ever with 27.5” wheels, a new suspension fork option, and a new attitude.

The LES Fat is back in a big way and just in time for winter. New 27.5” wheel and tire specs along with a new Manitou Mastodon suspension fork option make the LES Fat faster, better handling and more capable than ever for the ultimate in fat bike performance. Under the new Ice Blue paint job lies the most versatile fat bike frame ever developed with its low Q-Factor frame design and massive tire clearance.

Bigger Wheels for Bigger Adventures and Unrivaled Fat Bike Performance.

Our 27.5” Fat build features Maxxis Minion 3.8” tires mounted on 80mm wide rims for the ultimate in soft surface performance. The shorter sidewall height of 27.5” Fat tires offers improved cornering feel, less weight and the benefits of improved roll-over and momentum carrying characteristics that come with larger diameter wheels.

Pivot also offers the LES Fat with a 27.5+ wheel build option (or as a second wheelset) featuring 50mm wide rims and 3.0” wide Maxxis Chronical tires. This combination is perfect for the rider looking for a nimble and versatile four-season rig. The Manitou’s Mastodon fork option provides best in class fat bike suspension for riders who push the edge of fat bike performance and year-round use. The LES Fat frame features internal dropper post routing as well

The difference between having the greatest adventure of your life and pushing your bike for miles on end can be just a tire size away. Pivot’s LES Fat innovative frame design lets it utilize almost any imaginable tire and wheel combination currently offered. Pivot’s Patented Swinger II dropouts move up as they move back to simultaneously account for the increase in tire diameter and ride height.

By combining the rear dropout adjustments with multiple lower headset cup options, the LES Fat works with everything from traditional 29x2.4-2.8” trail tires on dirt to the highest volume 5” wide fat bike tires for the softest conditions making it the ultimate four-season fat bike.

This video got better as it went on. Good stuff. But Eddy mast have missed that Batty is already dating a different/real juicer:

Why on earth would any current pro publicise seeing LA? Baffling
  • 6 1
@BeardlessMarinRider: I know, right? There's zero chance any baseball, basketball, or football star would be caught dead in the same room as those that were caught cheating or disgracing their respective sport.

  • 6 1
@fercho25: no i think there's just been some social media backlash that she posted an instagram photo of riding with Lance Armstrong. Who, of course, famously cheated his way through the sport.

@gbeaks33: "there's been some just social media backlash"

This thing has a 69 degree headtube angle??? I'm wondering why they did that honestly. A more all rounded HTA would be around 67. Reaches are SHORT too, wow. I would rather ride a longer reach with a shorter stem for the same handlebar location.

  • 3 6
Fake news. You can't claim to have an updated "fat" bike and not offer it in an XL frame size. Fat lite?
  • 1 0
 fat guys ride fat
  • 1 4
Cool looking bike but a 438mm reach on the large with no xl option? What is this, a bike for ants?
  • 1 0
Just for shits....that is the same reach as on a Nomad 3 size large which by my observations around where I live, a lot of guys are still making work just fine. Maybe that's not long and slack enough for fatbiking though - I've never tried it.
  • 1 2
True, but the nomad 3 is a previous gen bike. The new nomad has been out for a few years, and their medium has the same reach as the old large. But yeah maybe for fat biking you don't need as long of a bike, but if you want to get this Les for versatility (it can accept regular sized 29er wheels too), you'd think the geo would be more updated?
  • 1 0
@tsn73: The Nomad 3 also isn't a hardtail designed to ride xc/trail on, a large 27.5+ Santa Cruz chameleon has a 456mm reach as a comparison with something more in the same category.

It seems like a lot of fatbikes are really quite short in the top tube, possibly for a more upright touring-style position on the bike? I honestly don't know though.
  • 7 0
We have to put some weight on the rear wheel to have traction on snow so probably the reason we need a more upright position.

Why would we need a fatbike that is slack, low and long? We're not taking our fatbikes on EWS races.... think more about a winter trail bike for a little bit of everything. Wink
  • 2 0
@Timo82: yeah true, I just mean it's short for a fitting perspective. I'm tall and would be very uncomfortable on this bike just riding it around. Would have to add a really long stem. I can't see anyone 6' or taller really wanting to ride it. Just my two cents.
  • 1 0
@Timo82: sarcasm can often go undetected around here. I agree with your take on things. Fatbikes look like great fun to me and if/when I ever move back to a town with real winter I will get one guaranteed.
  • 1 4
 In for the faux outrage.
