After the UCI let slip the news that Jack Moir would be racing for Canyon in 2020 last Friday, we've today had the news that Jack will be switching codes to Enduro full time too.

Jack has dipped his toes into enduro before and hasn't dropped out of the top ten in the three races he competed in, including a career-best sixth place in Rotorua in 2017. Moir makes the switch to enduro after racing for five years for the Intense Factory Racing team and he fills the shoes of Florian Nicolai, who moved from Canyon to Trek earlier this off season.
Jack's EWS Results

La Thuile, EWS Round 4 2016: 8th
Rotorua, EWS Round 1 2017: 6th
Tasmania, EWS Round 2 2017: 10th

Jack Moir Canyon Strive

bigquotesI’m really pumped to be joining the Canyon crew. Both the enduro and downhill teams are really successful, and that gives me great confidence in the bikes and equipment I’ll be using, and the people I will be working alongside.Jack Moir

bigquotesI am super happy to see Jack is joining our enduro setup. Pro DH racers have always performed highly in enduro, even if physically he will have to adapt a lot to the sport. I have no doubt that his interest in racing and performing will push him to dig into the finest details of enduro racing tacticsFabien Barel

Canyon also confirmed that Jack will be looking to race some downhill World Cups if his schedule allows, however enduro will be his main priority.

Press Release:Canyon

There aren’t many people out there who can say they’ve survived a shark attack – and who also happen to be one of the world’s best downhill mountain bikers. Well, that’s exactly how Australian rider ‘Shark Attack Jack’ Moir got his nickname: and we’re delighted to announce that this unique talent has joined the Canyon to race enduro from 2020 onwards.

Crankworx Downhill World Tour 2016 winner Jack Moir will be competing in the Enduro World Series (EWS) alongside two other Canyon stars, Dimitri Tordo and Ines Thoma. For 2020, his goal is a clear one: to win the EWS outright. Furthermore, if his racing schedule allows, Jack will also race in selected Downhill World Cup events in the upcoming season. His bikes of choice for this year’s campaign will be the 29er Strive enduro race bike and Sender downhill bike – both in top-of-the-line CFR trim.

I don't think Maes, Hill, or Rude are all that worried. Moir might mix it up, probably take a few podiums, but Hill was a successful DH rider in his own right, and I think many in WCDH would be more worried about Maes showing up more often. Rude is simply the best Enduro rider in USA right now so even if he doesn't fair well in EWS has got US events locked down. Many of Moir's events were on home turf where any rider is going to do well (although Hill got 4th in Rotorua 2017) so it'll be interesting to see how he does wurlwyde.

@PHeller: Yes, you´re right.. but look at EWS Tasmania.. Connor Fearon 2º place

Best comment I've read in other site: "What's the point of surviving a shark attack when the outcome is having to race Enduro?"
  • 11 6
Yeah...I'm less than stoked. Would rather see him on the DH circuit. Not that he cares.
  • 24 2
That is so Rad !!! Welcome to Enduro Jacko, it's so good to see big talents like you joining this circuit. Enjoy the process of this transition and let's shake the rankings !!! See you soon
  • 23 1
Damned, I was waiting to see the Moir / Brosnan combo on the DH worldcup circuit. But it makes the EWS even more interesting.
  • 3 0
 100% that would’ve been a devastating combo
  • 17 0
Didn't see this one coming! I'll miss seeing Jack on the WC track walks. Hopefully he'll make it into the ESW coverage! Good luck!

Imagine thinking your pinning a trail and hearing Jack Moir fucking tearing down after you...

I must admit it has never crossed my mind... do you have visions of Jack Moir being... behind you?

Kinda like being at Whistler Bike Park and not letting a rider pass you. Only to find out that rider was Wynn Masters.

@islandforlife: if you roll into a 1 minute trail segment seeing nobody behind you and someone catches up on you... MOUVE OUT OF DA WAY! It doesn't matter who it is. Get the hell out of the way, it means they gained at least 10 seconds on you. I had Kovarik on my back once, I know how it feels and I know my place. And don't say "oh I didn't hear you" because the standard answer to this should be: "your ability to focus on sucking is admirable!"
  • 1 0
 @digitalsoul: I got that reference!

@WAKIdesigns: oh I see it now. I regret everything

@Gravity-Fiend: we’re still talking biking ehehe heh... ehm... nevermind
  • 7 2
People who don't let faster riders thru are truly deserving of a sketchy inside pass with a bit of a shoulder check.

@WAKIdesigns: Did you mean to reply to me?
  • 1 1
@islandforlife: sorry it was mean to be a general "You" not you personally... must be Polish way of speaking English... I always forget about it.
  • 8 1
Crikey Canyon!! Stacked across the board: Brosnan, Seagrave's, Moir, Wibmer!! I want to see this crew run a train down A-Line
  • 3 5
Sorry, Winner looks cool on a bike and does stuff I could never do. But, not sure he belongs with the other three in that list... The train would be cool to watch however
  • 2 1
 Wibmer, autocorrect....

Mark Wallace isn't really a slouch on a bike either
  • 7 2
Super bummed we won't be seeing him on Wyn TV. Hopefully when he does a downhill race Wyn can coax him into giving us a YA!!!!
  • 15 0
Wyn does enduro coverage too, so I’m sure they’ll be re-united
  • 6 1
Looks like I need to update this...

So.. With all that talent and speed switching to enduro, my only question is: When are they revealing that we can actually follow EWS races in live footage? I for one can't get exited about live streaming and round-ups, 24 hours after you get the actual result.
  • 2 0
It will never happen. Rallying is a far bigger sport than enduro and it doesn't get live coverage and it has an identical format and problem to enduro. Live streaming is too complicated and costly for multiple tracks.

@pargolf8: god you seppo’s are dumb. Good move on going to enduro seems to have better results doing that.

So many ups and downs in these revelations...

Massive DH/Moir/Intense fanboy... so the Canyon swich was a kick in the guts now the Enduro switch is a complete punch in the balls.
  • 1 0
Stoked for Jack and am sure he will have a good season in the ews but I really hope he returns to downhill one day as he's a guy I can see winning a world cup one day.
  • 3 0
 Nice one!
  • 3 0
 Good luck Jack !

Still wondering why canyon bikes are lbs prices now?
Jack is a cool dude, best wishes for him!!
  • 3 0
I just saw you can get an aluminum canyon for 2k fully built. Not sure what you’re even talking about tbh
  • 1 0
Great news, that will mix up the EWS. I wish him best of luck. And who's Commencal bikes he had in the garage then... ?
  • 3 2
Is there a canyon bike that will remotely fit this Lanky ass mother f*cker?
  • 4 3
I was thinking that too but XL Strive has a reach of 500mm and wheelbase of 1268mm. It's probably a little small but suitable.
  • 5 2
Pretty sure he figured that out before signing his contract... He is probably not as woke as fuck as you are tho and don't know shit about modern geometry.
  • 1 0
 @Boosting: Okay.
Consider that there are lots of riders out there just looking for a paycheck so they can keep chasing the dream. I'm sure there are lots of riders out there who are on subpar bikes or fits but make it work anyway because they are incredibly skilled. Doesn't mean they wouldn't benefit from better setups though.
  • 5 1
@heatproofgenie: we're talking about a top 10 WC DH rider here not some random privateer who had one good result. Smarten up
  • 2 0
Awesome, this should just make the EWS even more fun to follow
  • 1 0
Was there in Tassie, looked vicious all weekend and when it poured he smashed it. Hard race.
  • 1 0
 Did not see this occurring.
  • 1 0
Thats a real shame. DH lost a good one.
  • 1 0
One of my favorite DH racers, I'll be watching more Enduro!
  • 1 0
yeah, Canyon is for sure stepping up their game
  • 1 0
Another reason for me to follow ews. Congrats jack
  • 8 8
It's a shame that he will race on Canyon's old geometry.
  • 8 0
You probably have tried the bike... Tordo and Nicolaï were top 5 overall last year with this "old geometry"
  • 1 0
 Awesome Jack, good luck
  • 1 0
 YEAH! Wink
