Reece Wilson's commentary has been fantastic so far.
  • 40 1
Yes, he's been great, definitely a future behind the mike if he chooses to when the racing stops.
  • 44 1
 no he was pärrfeckt!
  • 21 1
Looked like he was born to do it, so polished
  • 19 1
He did an outstanding job! The first in living memory who can really hold his own against Rob Warner. (And that, for me, includes the likes of Nigel Page.)
  • 42 2
I just watched the entire replay and Reece was a fvking amazing natural behind the mic!!! It would be great if Giant would let him do more of this as long as it didn't conflict with his normal riding schedule and bush-piloting.

Dual threat announcer too, world cups and rampage.

 Yep, Reece is excellent.

 @zstover: there's always one, right.
  • 2 0
Yeah, fully agree, and with his background he can do commentary both for freeride and world cup events. Go Reece!

@fjm35: Must be tough trying talk next to a guy who yells everything. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Warner fan though.

Brage just murdered the mountain in a t shirt and sweatpants.
  • 63 0
 He pillaged it.

Dude didn’t come to race, he came to make the mountain tap out!

That was Brage taking revenge on the mountain for destroying his dads corduroy.

Both of my hands would have flown off the bars on those first couple compressions he had. Insane!!!

Had no idea he had that kind of race speed too. What a sick all rounder. Big man too.

@LaurensVR: enduro bikes are more than capable of shredding this track these days! Maybe less so than a dh rig but very refreshing to see somebody not follow the "trend" single crown for the win next year! Yeah boi!!!

@Evaneleven: don't think anyone will ever run a single crown fork at Hardline to be honest, not stiff enough or have 203mm of travel.

Reece Wilson had been brilliant- what a shout to get him on.
He has insight, knows the riders and the tech and is really concise and eloquent.

Shame he has to race the World Cups he'd be so good commentating on them! Smile
  • 2 1
Still he gave even more outstanding show on the bike on last world cup... more than anyone else I ll say .. It's incredible how such a crazy run he did 2 weeks ago and he is so compelled and chill on the mic... Is like dr.jekyll an Mr Hide perhaps...

 What to say?????

first - Big shout out to all the riders - you killed it!! so inspiring to watch every single one of you! well done!!

second - thank you red bull. I was watching the olympics and was almost in a coma - you have saved my life!!!

third - the commentary. Rob and the team did a fantastic job. insightful, knowledgeable and interesting. You have put the BBC and ITV to shame.

fourth - the cameras. wow. The drone footage, camera angles and quality of image were unbelievable. What is it gonna be like in an other 5 years?? you smashed it and put the main stream broad caters to shame - no question!!

Kudos to every single one of you!

Bernard Kerr does it again! But honestly I'm mostly stoked for Brage's run. Such a beast!
  • 35 0
So stoked on the footageZ better than any World Cup footage. Second scrap qualifying for good. Everyone deserves to be in the final! You make them do those jumps then you film them live for their family and friends! Awesome there were no really ugly crashes on any of the jumps too!
  • 33 0
Brilliant coverage from Red Bull. Great to see Bernard win after all the help he'd given the other riders. And Reece was a great commentator.
  • 21 0
Reece Wilson's was ace! Brage is an absolute savage on the bike. Awesome to watch. Hope Joe Smith isn't too banged up. Gutted for him not to finish his run. Seems like a really nice dude. Healing vibes
  • 19 0
Is it just me or did others prefer this forced format of everyone racing finals on the Sunday? And maybe it reduces the risk of crashing with only 1 timed run as an added benefit?

Qualifying could just be the fact these guys are so skilled and capable of making it down in one piece!
  • 4 0
I also liked no “reference time” for this race. Take the week to figure it out. No other timed runs besides their own POV footage. Fastest down a single run takes it all.
24 racing one run isn’t that bad. It was a great watch live.
  • 19 0
Definitely one of the best Hardline races ever. Killer runs. Especially the last 10 riders. Reece killed it with the commentary! Let's get him in th booth at more events or in front of the camera. Natural talent. Again Hardline lived up to the hype.
  • 16 0
lew putting a bike together on short notice and smashing it, kade throwing down a composed and absolutely pinned run, reece killing it in the commentary booth, braage tearing the course apart - too much to talk about what a race
  • 20 1
Kudos to the winner, I’m giving my own personal trophy to Brage!
  • 1 0
Brage got robbed!! ....wait are we still doing that?
  • 15 0
I think that was the best Mtb event I’ve watched.

Brilliant lead up over the last few days and bonkers watching people actually race, let alone ride, that mental ass track. Top draw cameras and on point commentary from Reece and co host RobWink

For all the shit Red Bull get for WC coverage, they knocked this one out the park.

Can we have a Brage bike check ... post race

Did Brage just win viewers choice again? What an amazing race. Every time a rider came off the step down into that berm I held my breath. Glad to see Bernie take it again and looked so controlled on such a ridiculous course! Unreal riding from everyone and "sending healing vibes" to the course after Brage's run.

Reece getting more props than the riders! He did a good job mind!

Brage run was just awesome, like a bulldozer coming through, he is the people's champ!

Cant help but feel if Joe had stayed up right he would have demolished kerrs time, but gotta finish first!

Qually, just get rid of it, everyone in the final is the way forward!

Really enjoyed watching that Smile

Lewis riding after that fall he had is impressive. Can’t wait to catch the reply.
  • 7 0
Unlucky Joe, that's twice he's looked more than capable of winning.. Heal up!
  • 6 0
I hope he’s ok and that they got him to the hospital for a check up. That was quite a knock on the head from a rather big rock.
  • 4 0
Seems like the difference maker was in the "flat" section that you couldn't really pedal after the series of smaller jumps (the one over the stone fence). BK and KE were both smoother and seemed to actually pump that section to carry more speed through it. And then the really steep technical section that gave a lot of people fit. BK and KE both looked smoother and faster there.

BV absolutely destroyed the top part of the track but didn't seem to have the finesse to carry that same speed on the lower half that was a "more traditional" DH course. Still crazy that he can compete with these guys when he's not really even dedicating himself to racing this year.
  • 5 0
Listen Red Bull, camera switchs in the middle of big drops are pretty annoying (mostly blatant on the road gap). Btw, thanks for the free show !
  • 4 0
Love the side view of the final jump. But oh wait, the angle is below the landing and a couple big ass trees are in the way.

What to say? Fabulous action, scenery, great weather (apart from the wind) great riders on a brutal course. Add in the presentation from Red Bull, with commentary from Rob, and what about Reece; seems to be good at everything.....

Everything that makes MTB great!!!

BRAGE is a MANIMAL! Something about a burly man shredding like that is just impressive! He didnt look out of control at any point but the whole thing just looked wild! Especially when he landed the stepdown and splashed thata catch berm. Hard to say why that run looked so roudy but it did

How about that run by Brage? -The people's champ; did his run in jeans and a t-shirt, I though he took out the berm before the road gap. Highlight of the entire hardline.
  • 3 0
Obviously the moral winners - and perhaps in style - were Craig Evans and Brage Vestavik.
  • 1 0
The fastest free racer is Brage, impressive. I hope he gets funding now for more edits. I doubt GT has budget for him, i hope his other sponsors step up. He's on an upward trajectory right now.
  • 1 0
Why wouldn’t GT have budget for him? Have you looked at their sponsored athletes list? Ifs not exacty weak. You also know that GT is owned by same parent company as Cannondale, yeah?
  • 1 0
@Hogfly: i have seen one edit of him, and it's the X Games edit. Also haven't seen a Tmac edit in a long time. YT has a stacked team and they churn out edits, and they're not under a big company. I've seen more edits from the Cannondale crew than GT.
  • 1 0
@Zuman: There are more Brage edits out there, this one is wicked www.pinkbike.com/news/video-brage-vestavik-builds-and-shreds-a-crazy-new-freeride-line-in-norway.html. TMac was injured for the last couple of years with his ankles, but looks to be getting back into the swing of things with him and Cam putting out an edit www.pinkbike.com/news/video-cam-and-tyler-mccaul-charge-high-speed-lines-in-southern-utah.html

I would love to hear Chris Porter's take on how many seconds Brage lost by riding in Corduroys
  • 6 4
Too bad not to give a second chance to riders with flat tyre for this kind of event

  • 8 9
What about Hardline makes it so tough? Is it the jumps, or steepness or something else? Interested, as the camera always makes things look easier or flatter than they are!
  • 12 0
Bigger hits with more consequence than any of the UCI races. Not as big as, say, Darkfest, but more technical (in terms of rough) between the hits and also the jumps and drops at Hardline have sniper landings. Unlike Rampage (which is way bigger than Hardline) you’re trying to race it instead of merely surviving, but like Rampage it’s not part of the UCI World Cup circuit so the risk-vs-reward isn’t there for many of the top DH racers.
  • 6 0
I went to watch a couple of years ago. A lot of the features are far bigger in reality than they look on camera. In a lot of places it’s also way steeper than it looks on TV - spectators were struggling to scramble up and down the designated paths and in places I could have used a rope. The hill is also very exposed to the elements. The wind and rain made just spectating pretty miserable the year I went.
  • 3 0
Go watch Matt Jones videos on it, he’s just spectating and it really shows how huge the hits really are, then add in World Cup level rough and steep
  • 5 0
