Press Release: OneUp

NEW OneUp Aluminum Handlebar. The award-winning vibration damping of our Carbon Handlebar is now available in aluminum. The new Aluminum Handlebar applies the same patented oval shape as our Carbon Handlebar to deliver increased vertical compliance without sacrificing steering precision. This noticeably reduces hand fatigue, so you can ride harder for longer.

 Inflation, meet aluminum.

Inflation, buy aluminium at the price of carbon.
  • 9 2
@trippleacht: what carbon bars are you buying??
  • 2 2
 @pedrosalas7: Evil boomstick
  • 2 2
Would a steel handlebar (dimensioned to be sufficiently strong and fatigue resistant) be that much heavier? Maybe people would buy it if it has a Reynolds or Columbus sticker on it. You can get titanium bars (from Kingdom bikes for instance) so steel shouldn't be too far off. Especially when strength, fatigue resistance and compliance are important and the max diameter is limited.

@vinay: I just buy everything dh rated wven tho I don't even ride dh lol, don't care about weight anyway and it's much easier to find than boutique steel parts
  • 4 0
@stephenzkie: Pfff, that's nothing. I buy e-bike rated stuff even though I don't ride an assisted bike.

@pedrosalas7: I got my Nukeproof carbon riser bars for $61 shipped. And I'm pretty sure they're still on sale at CRC.

OneUp 35mm bars: so good they're almost like 31.8 bars

branding looks like a direct rip off of Spank Vibrocore

The only thing better than a vibration dampening, vertically complaint 35mm handlebar is any 31.8 handlebar.

I love my OneUp carbon bar. They are so much more comfortable than other 35mm bars. I might have to grab an alloy version for my DH bike. The stem looks sick too.

How much difference in compliance and damping will a 143# rider that cuts the bars to 740 width with soft grips, 150mm travel fork with a fat tire inflated to 17psi who doesn’t death grip bar and absorbs bumps with flexed arms and legs feel?

Was looking forward to the OneUp Infini-Flexigy AlumTech GripsFit Bolt35 2.0 bar, they need to learn how to name their products properly.

I have been toying with the idea of buying their carbon bar but both price and material held me off for now. If this alu version has some decent compliance, it will be an easy purchase. Maybe Pinkbike can review them in comparison with their carbon version as well as competing alu bars.
  • 9 0
Well done on the product names!

Was hoping to see more rise options... if these sell, maybe we'll get some 50s, 65s... and an Andrew Major approved 16 degree backsweep option.
  • 2 0
I totally want an option to SQlabs in the 12-16 degree range.
  • 7 0
20mm, 35mm 50mm, 65mm… makes perfect sense for them to keep going with rise, not stop at 35mm. Every new XL bike on the market still has a too-short head tube, so we will continue to slap high rise bars on our bikes till makers catch up
  • 8 2
So Big Bike said buy our 35mm bars, they are better because they are stiffer
Now they say buy our new Oval bars because the "old" 35mm bars are too stiff
  • 6 0
so stoked for the 20mm rise option to be released!

I have a feeling most of you folks haven't actually tried these bars. I have had 31.8 bars on all of my bikes for forever and picked up a used Revel Rail that had these OneUp bars. They completely eliminated hand fatigue on long downhill rides, even compared to downhill bikes I'd rent. They're the only bars I will be buying in the future.
  • 8 7
Why doesn't anybody make any 7 degree backsweep bars besides renthal? The renthals are always expensive with ugly gold and red colors/decals. Would love to run a simple black one up bar instead.
  • 9 4
spray paint if you are scared of colors
  • 4 0
@NorCalNomad: I've thought about it but I don't want it to look like garbage 3 months in if the paint starts peeling. I've also thought about just stripping the anodizing and not worrying about it.

I'll never understand the peeps who care so much about color. Most bikes that are color matched and looking super clean and owned by "riders" who can't ride them.
  • 10 0
@steveo54: Just want raw and black, that's all. No rainbow bikes.
  • 13 0
 Renthal make black bars.
  • 1 0
Reverse Nico Vink has 7 backsweep but would not call them comfortable.
  • 3 0
The Sixpack Millennium 805 handlebars are 5 up, 7 back and the logos are Very stealthy. I have a pair of the 785s since they come in a 40mm rise and I cut my bars to 750mm, I am very happy with them.
  • 2 0
@McKai: This is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you.
  • 3 0
Transitions in house Anvil is also 7 degrees back 6 Up
  • 2 0
@howejohn I was looking for your comment. How can they use these gross 8° things?? 7° club 4 ever
  • 1 0
TAG Metals is 7deg back 5deg up.

Not neccesarily in reference to this stem, but does anyone know why many direct mount stems are longer than 40mm? Its been difficult to find many options at all, let alone a 40 or 35mm length option.
  • 1 0
Straitline components still has 28 mm stems for 30 CAD
  • 1 0
@lightone: Those look badass, thank you.
  • 2 0
 @plustiresaintdead: Spank does 25/30 and 40.
  • 1 1
 @somebody-else: Rulezman does 18mm.

Onoff Krypton 10mm

SB3 Flowy 20mm
  • 4 0
I've been waiting SO LONG for this! Stoked to see it
  • 5 1
 Spank Spyke Vibrocore. Lighter,proven,cheaper.
  • 1 0
I like the Spank stuff, but only the Oozy Vibrocore is lighter, and it's only 780mm wide...The Spike is a tad havier (like 10,15g). Real life pricing for the One-Up is tbd as well.
Wasn't there a vibration-damping handlebar shootout recently somewhere? Would be cool to compare them.
Anyway, as long as I don't have any 35mm stems I'll stick with the Spanks, thank you very much Big Grin

After owning and riding (concurrently) both Renthal fatbar 35 carbons and OneUp carbon 35s with oval shape, I’d definitely say the Renthal are more compliant. I run the oneup on trail bike and the Renthal on a park bike, but the difference in compliance is noticeable, even just flipping the bike upside down and pressing the front wheel into the fork, Renthals flex a bit more. But the 31.8 carbon Ibis low-fi my son runs may be as good or better than either. Or could be the aluminum weights(extensions) on the bar ends helping out there with vibes. I like one up products. But think their bar isn’t as compliant as others.

Another bar with 8 degrees backsweep - yay!

 No 50mm rise option... that's a miss!

When are we gonna talk about Oneup being acquired by PON?
  • 5 4
Shhhhhhhh, don't look at the elephant in the room. I don't want to think about my money going to their $150,000,000 bottom line....
  • 3 3
It’s a shame. Always loved their products but I love supporting rider owned companies more.
  • 2 2
so PNW is the new OneUp?
  • 3 1
@drakefan705: I'm sure somebody at PON rides a bike.
  • 1 0
That’s a bummer. I put their pedals plastic on all my that don’t get ridden too hard. I just put the purple ones on my ghost grappler. They’ve got the best purple. I put Chester’s on all of my bikes that get sent.
  • 1 0
Is this confirmed? The latest news from September 30th 2022 was that they were rumored to have invested in OneUp but nothing about a total buyout.
  • 2 1
@dangernoodle92808: a friend was told so by an employee. It’s entirely possible they misunderstood. However this comment got 7 downvotes in the first 6 minutes it was posted which leads me to believe either pinkbike or oneup was trying to bury it.
  • 1 1
Nice, but where's the 820mm bars for taller folks?
  • 1 0
 Add bar extensions
  • 1 0
@scary1: I did, but I had to make them myself
  • 1 2
 £100 quid for a stem? They're having a bubble.
  • 4 7
I heated that One Up had liquidity problems and was now owned by PON holdings. It would be real shame if they stopped being independent
