Devinci Hendrix 27.5

Devinci Hendrix 27.5+

Canadian company, Devinci is joining the plus sized movement with their new Hendrix, a 27.5'' wheeled trail bike with 120mm of rear wheel travel that offers clearance for 3.25'' wide tires. The fresh Hendrix platform also sports much longer and more contemporary geometry compared to the shorter reach of Devinci's bikes from a few years back, all of which should add up to a fun and forgiving, short-travel bike.

bigquotesVOODOO CHILD - The Hendrix experience is all about taking the unorthodox and owning it. It excels in mixed-bag elements and storms varied, unforgiving terrain with the multitasking muscle of Devinci's Optimum GO4 Aluminum frame paired with proven Split-Pivot suspension. Intuitive frame architecture clears mud quickly - thanks to XL openings below the shock's lower attachment. Surefooted 27.5+ wheels enhance traction on slippery surfaces and deliver appreciated stability. And Boost 148 axle spacing in rear, 110 in the front, bolsters stiffness for superior handling meets massive pedal power. Charge hard with bikes equipped for one itching desire, to go anywhere and everywhere the others won't. - Devinci Cycles

The Hendrix RS complete bike employs a 120mm travel Rock Shox Reba up front, matched to a Monarch R Debonair to control another 120mm of travel at the rear. SRAM takes care of braking with Guide R's with 180mm/160mm rotors. SRAM also supplies the drivetrain with the new budget-friendly GX 11-speed and a Race Face Affect crankset. Interestingly Devinci have chosen V2 Comp rims which have an 33mm internal rim width compared to the 40/45mm widths of many 27.5+ competitors. Stock tires are the low profile and rounded Maxxis Chronicle's in a 3.0" width.

The flip chip at the seatstay / rocker link junction can be flipped to raise or lower the bottom bracket by 7mm and change the head tube angle between 67.3 and 67.7 degrees.

Throwback to 06 when 2.7" tires were completely acceptable on a 24" bike, fatbiking before fatbikes knew how to fatbike

flag deeeight (Aug 26, 2015 at 12:04) (Below Threshold)
Not really... the 2.7 tires then only came in stiff/heavy DH casings, the ones today are much better designed and suited to actually being pedaled up a hill, not to mention larger diameters.
  • 11 1
Not really,WTB had 2.7 timberwolves RACE folding tires. Still have a good one. Folding bead 800 grams
  • 7 7
And that wasn't actually a 2.7 inflated for most mere mortals... yeah that's a great example. WTB Tire sizes were based on internal rim widths of their own widest rims pressurized to 60 psi. Their "plus" trailblazer likewise is a 2.8 in casing width only, the actual tread is 2.3 and that casing width is only achieved when used on the Scraper i45 rims. On more reasonable rims with around a 33mm inside width, they're at best 2.5 in casing widths.

 good chat

is it just me, or was a lot of peoples reaction to this bike is it looks a lot like a slope bike.......
  • 3 3
Wayyyy too slack to look like a slope bike
  • 3 0
I disagree @Keyboardkilla, I had a 2014 GT Distortion, had a 66.5°. head angle with a 140mm fork. They are used as slope bikes by the GT team members, and are slacker than this bike (67.3-67.7°).
  • 15 0
Anything is a slope bike if you are cool enough
  • 2 0
 @HaydenBeck Truuuuuuuuuuu
  • 1 2
 More like a session.
  • 16 3
Wow. Dead sexy bike at a reasonable price.
  • 17 4
29-er bikes for people who don't want to admit that they like 29-ers....
  • 12 0
I'd buy it just because of the name.
  • 2 0
 ^^^^^This
  • 11 0
I would think the yellow parts would have been purple....
  • 3 0
 Even better. Jimi Hendrix FTW!

A Canadian company makes an amazing bike and they don't need to sell it for 5 grand +. All I can say is awesome!!!!
  • 8 1
you lost me at "Travel: 120mm"

flag Protour (Aug 27, 2015 at 0:10) (Below Threshold)
Not to mention 67º head angle. Why bother with fat tires if the bike is designed for the flats? Looks like an extremely slow xc bike to me.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon they created something even lamer, how disappointing.

I think the 27+ trail bike has potential, but I have yet to see a company do it right.
  • 3 0
You don't need as much travel when you have balloons for tires. That's the concept anyway.
  • 3 0
seems to me ...alot of bike for the money. IMO, its a pretty shit hot looking bike. i love the swoopy frame. I bet it is a blast to ride. However , i still dont understand the whole "boost" thing. Anyone have experiance with "plus" sizes and think that this could be your only "do all" bike??
  • 3 0
In my experience plus sizes are usually a little shameful to ride, there's this sort of culture that says plus sizes are sub standard (personally I've never bought into that). They can take more and usually that means you can get away with some really freaky stuff. If you know what I mean...
  • 3 0
Can we just start making 26+?? A 26" wheel with some nice 3.25" tires would look pretty sick, and it would basically end up at 27.5" diameter..." Yep, that needs to happen... Industry please read this comment. You could hold onto your old wheels, keep standover height low, less frame weight, less wheel weight, stiffer spoke environment, increase contact patch, sharper cornering, smaller wheelbase, better jumping/hucking... the list goes on.
  • 7 1
That will rip! Perfect UK trail bike.
  • 5 0
Is it just me or does it look crazy slack in the main pic? Really interested to see/ hear how these bikes ride.
  • 5 0
So what I'm getting from today's posts is that raceface's turbine cranks are going to be on most bikes.
  • 2 0
 They are good cranks!
  • 5 0
 Nice bike and grrrreat price!

When are the 150/160mm travel "Plus" bikes coming?
  • 7 0
Once the 120/130/140mm bikes stop selling of course.
  • 4 0
This actually looks like it would be an incredibly fun bike, well done Devinci!
  • 2 0
I'm curious if there is a mistake on the Geometry on the website? The L and XL have the same reach? Thats a bummer, I really like this frame, but wanting a true XL geometry!
  • 2 0
Indeed there is a mistake on the website, the true reach for the XL will be 484mm in the 'low' position and 488mm in the 'high' position. We will update the proper correction asap.
  • 1 0
 Sweet!
  • 2 0
@paulaston &/or @devinci who makes the V2 Comp rims on this bike? By the way, this bike looks like a whole lot of fun!
  • 2 0
Lol.. any more of this nonsense and I'm likely to turn into @Matt76, except for obese tyres.
  • 4 1
Looks slacker than 67.... cool bike though.
  • 2 0
Sorry I meant to thumbs up you but my iPhone is tiny. Frown

But seriously, I saw this too and thought, "slacky mcslackersons Batman!"
  • 1 0
You have a tiny iPhone? Jealous.
  • 1 0
They should post the photo with an anglefinder on the fork leg or head tube.
  • 1 0
yep, a quick look put it at 65-ish.
@jerryhazard: import 1st pic to irfanview, edge detection, zoom, f12 and use measure tool (above help button) - add ~.5º because bike it's not completely level in pic.
  • 1 1
This bike just looks cumbersome. Limited travel, 1x drive - Why both? This bike seems for the intermediate rider, who won't need that 160mm+ travel, but that same rider is likely going to be riding xc and will want a 2x...
  • 1 0
unless he doesn't like xc or its geo. btw a 9-42 (hope) by 28/30 has about the same range as a 11-36 by 24-36.
  • 1 0
Let's see... Considering how much I've enjoyed my Dixon, combined with needing/wanting a shorter travel bike, and the decent price; I say winner winner chicken dinner!
  • 2 3
looks good. the big D sorely needs to come into the present with their geometry, especially their reach numbers. if i had to guess, i bet their owners/management are short guys as their bikes are waaaay too small.
  • 2 0
If you put normal 27.5 tires on this bike will the ride height be too low?
  • 2 0
That was my 1st question as well.

I guess if it is the case, you can change the flip chip to the "high" setting to help raise the BB.
  • 2 1
 Depends where you ride, essentially a 650B x 3.0 is the same as a 29 x 2.1 in diameter, so a 650B x 2.3 would be about 3/4" less in diameter.
  • 4 2
Why did they give it a DH bike name?
  • 3 1
Life time warranty. say no more.
  • 2 0
what is the fattest tire you can put in a boost pike? 3.25"? 3.5"?
  • 2 1
So for people who actually ride them. Do those tyres even grip with so little tread?
  • 1 0
Devinci thank you for this new bike, now please upgrade all the other with 1x11 and good wheels.
  • 1 0
Troy, Wilson, Hendrix.. so, when will there Devinci named one of their bike Leonardo?
  • 2 0
hey Joe u can ride this bike
  • 1 0
Devinci, when will this become available?
Finally a slacker.playful geo trail bike
  • 1 0
Oh shit i just have 7 dollars in my Pocket i cant buy it Razz Razz
  • 1 0
Looks like it is crying for more travel
  • 1 0
A fat alternative to the Mega TR
  • 5 4
Who the f*ck needs 3+" tires! Really bike industry!
  • 2 1
That looks ace, metal too so even better! Good one .
  • 2 0
 wank wank ...
  • 1 0
Boost... is it compatible with 150/157mm at least? And 20mm at the front?
  • 1 0
That's a slack bike! pretty nice!
  • 1 0
Looks like the Troy... with more tire-clearance.
  • 1 0
Seems like it'd be pretty sweet....with regular 29" wheels.
  • 1 0
 120mm?? Really ?
  • 1 0
 Wonder how it climbs?
  • 6 6
 Fucking Bullshit...
