The new Aurum color is a blast from the past. This bike looks fast standing still in the booth.

Check out all the colors at the twenty6 booth

If we are going to talk colors, we have to take a look at Twenty6 components out of Montana and their 13 different colors to choose from.

We ran into Catharine Pendrel at the Clif Bar booth, so it was only polite to get her to pose with her Luna Chix's team mates.

I swear this company must be from Chilliwack as I see all kinds of bottle collectors rolling around on gas powered bikes like this one from GasBike.net

This upright tub is an exercise machine and the company name is Fit Wet.

Camelbak has the most extensive hydration pack range I ve ever seen.

Since we are on the topic of water, no one has a more extensive hydration pack lineup than Camelbak. You name it, they have a pack to suit your needs.

Ego-Kits.com are making electric motors that bolt up to almost any bike to assist pedaling on the climbs so that you can enjoy the downs. The weight sits low, so converted bikes reportedly handle well in the turns and steeps.

Cove had a small ut effective booth - check out the rainbow strips in the decals.

Cove Bikes had a tidy booth this year, but you don't need as much flash when you have earned the right to have rainbow stripes on your decals. The Shocker is a fast machine.

Great idea putting a motor on a bike. NO- thats just a motorbike.
  • 93 3
 There goes a V10.
  • 10 2
I'm not saying I hate it, but i'm a little confused on the premise of the first image.
  • 72 4
They were at Crankworx and had 3 fat blokes riding around on them. One passed me on an uphill and commented that I needed a motor like his, I retorted back that I didn't as I'd have a huge fat ass like his then Smile

None of you ever tried a e-bike than , huh?
First get on one and than critizise it, please Wink
  • 101 7
The electric motor ruins the whole concept of the bicycle, so no, I don't even want to get one and I will criticise them.
  • 11 1
I have ridden multiple electric bikes, and I will have to agree with the majority here in that they do ruin the sense of accomplishment that you get from riding with just human power. I do think that E-bikes are a hoot to ride, and I even managed to get one of the lighter models airborn. I would take a day full of hiking up scree fields with bloody legs over being lazy any day.
  • 10 1
 It's just for a laugh.
  • 11 1
this is just stupid. yeah assists you going up hill, but the used a bad bike for that. DH bikes are all about point and shoot DOWNHILL not to go XC in them. haters are going to hate but "E-Bikes" do not belong in the Down hill, freeride, trail or XC categories. The E-bike category belong in the bikes which the general public who use them. like i said haters are going to hate but that's my opinion.
  • 4 1
It seems like you wouldn't be able to use them in the state/national forests anyways as the trails are closed to motorized vehicles, there is no differentiating between a bike with a motor (such as this) and a motorcycle in my eyes, they all fall under the motorized vehicles umbrella and thus are not allowed on the trails. It might be different around the country/world, but that's how it is here. If you're too much of a pussy to pedal your bike, stay at home or go ride a park with a lift. Such a waste of a v10
  • 2 0
@ Timkoerber i agree a bike shouldent have a motor... i mean shit buy a dirt bike or trials bike at that point.....but your asumption of what trail are allowed is a little far fetched....the us forest service deems mt. bikes as equal sound polution and trail erosion as a dirt bike....hence our limitations for riding trails in national wilderness or national forest.....there are the few exeptions of some trails being open to cycling and not moto but very few....where i live there is a whole 2 trails deemed ok for bikes but not moto
  • 4 3
I am building one currently. All custom, about half the weight of that kit. Total bike weight should be sub 40 pounds on an enduro!
Endless downhill (until you run out of energy and money for more packs.

I got to ride an ego, and yes it is not a bicycle anymore...
They are very fun and are basically a ultra-light/quite dirt bike.

Just wish the price and weight where half of what they are.
  • 4 3
Some people need them. I know a guy with a destroyed knee (ied) who used to ride a lot and now has to use electric assist or he can't go more than a couple miles. Thrust won't replace Mtb though so the haters should chill. People can ride what they want.
As for where they can ride I know it is different everywhere, but in NY state you can only ride some trails on a motor vehicle if you get a handicap license. Otherwise they are hiker, horse, and bike exclusive.
  • 3 1
I saw that thing at downieville (in town) I thought earlier this summer. Jamming 30+ uphill!! I think this is something pretty cool for a lot of people. (Not I). But yea many national forest ohv trails shouldn't have an issue with this being used. If weights can go down on these things, maybe internal batteries to centralize weight and keep it low, and some VERY tough motor hubs, then I see no reason why these couldnt be hyped up like a new wheel size and a new/newer category could be established.. options!

What a load of bullcrap here...you guys should ride one of those things before you slate them..they are pure fun!!
  • 5 2
 @themountain

I have ridden a E-bike and there are heavy as hell, they cost an arm and a leg, and when the battery runs out you have to pedal your ass back to your house with a 45+ lbs bike. when you live in a place where its flat its not too bad but here in NORTH AMERICA there are hills and even with a 3% hill grade 45lbs feels like its a 60+lbs bike
  • 4 0
I'd give an Ego a try. Looks intriguing. It wouldn't be my go-to bike, but the idea of a 30-40 mile backwoods tour on a 6" travel rig is pretty attractive to me, personally.
  • 8 0
I had a go on an Entourage kitted out with the Ego kit.
Tons of fun!
The torque is impressive (donuts on the lawn!) and riding up singletrails at that speed is pretty technical. Its also great for marking race courses or marshalls at mtnbike races, instead of the stinky mx bikes.
The centered weight is a big plus in handling and 1000hm of climbing goes a long way.
Nope not a bicycle anymore, yup still pure fun!
  • 2 4
On the V-10 looks like shimano brakes on sram rotor.... In my experience it doesn't work as well
  • 3 2
If it's being used for those with handicaps I can understand. But a lot of work goes into building trails and my favorite ones are the ones that can't be shuttled or accessed by the bike park, they're in way better condition because they don't see big downhill bikes or as much traffic. If a guy has a knee issue, I can see it. But if it means I'm going to see fatties riding all mountain trails on an 8 inch bike... it blows.
  • 3 4
 @ mrskabs
What you think we have here in Spain..?? Sand dunes and flat roads ?? My ebike weights 18kg with the battery ...don´t tell me your DH sled weights less !! :no
  • 3 1
my bicycle doubles as my health insurance (no dh here, just xc), so attaching a motor seems both ridiculous and lazy. just buy a motorcycle and quit fixing what isn't broken.
  • 3 1
I'm not going to argue with "themountain" that you guys have some altitude. But for most people (I think e bikes are great for those with disabilities) it's really just a cop out. I'm 100% for innovation and the like, but these e-scooters are frankly a danger to everyone around them, they go too slow for the road and too fast for the sidewalks. So having that translate over to mtn biking just annoys me. I'd be really pissed to see a guy on one of my am trails sessioning it on his e-bike like a shuttle.

Go do that shit in the park, the trails there are at least made for it.

That said, I'm most likely complaining about a non-issue, because I've honestly never really seen one of those out here. Wink
  • 3 1
Actually I've ridden DH bikes that are 34lbs or 16kg and my old nomad was 36lbs
  • 1 4
Yes let's criticize a motor on a pedal bike!!!!!!
  • 3 1
I road up 5000ft, in approx. 3hrs with only one stop, on my electric bike with a battery 3x size of a cordless drill's ... I pedaled the entire time and minimized the motor output to 100watts.. otherwise I would use up all the battery capacity and then I'd be pedaling a 50lbs bike up steep loose terrain with no assistance.. my effort was comparable to something like pedaling a theoretical sub 20lbs fs bike, except I absolutely know for certain that I could not pedal up hill for that distance... even in twice that amount of time..
  • 2 0
how was the ride down? I'm guessing pretty fun.
  • 2 1
You fools that are bashing it dont get it is pure fun. Just think no shuttels just ride up and yes even the ups r fun and smash down. There is no suck factor! Its pedal assist so u still sweat. You ride it on singletrack.Once you ride it you will smile from ear to ear and days i want to get a harder workout i leave it at home. What is the diferance then getting on a lift?
  • 4 1
I had the chance to ride these bikes and they were a blast. They really are a unique experience. I know they aren't for everyone but I think most people putting them down don't really get their potential. Being on one didn't really make me feel like not pedaling. You still have to pedal. It just made me feel like I could go crazy distances. It also made trails with a lot of up and downs more flowy. A lot of the negative comments here remind me of all the comments people make against mountain biking. They are just something different. They don't pollute and I don't see hordes of people blowing up the local trails on these. They aren't as nimble as my carbon DH bike but I could still bunny hop them over small to medium logs.
  • 3 1
I have a blown knee that is done without surgery.
It is not a bicycle, but it is a way to get more runs in.

Has anyone had those days where you cannot find anyone to shuttle with...
ELECTRIC ASSIST (get those bikes up the hill)
Stop arguing over a great DH training rig.
  • 3 1
I like the Idea of the battery being in your back pack for weight distribution but where does the wire go? Between your legs? Feel a bit weird and I don't want to zap my balls. Out back and it might contact the tyre or get caught up in the suspension. Could someone who has seen it being ridden explain this. Why do they cost over $3000 when a cyclone kit of the same power cost $1200. I see that the mounting system is way more robust (probably heavier) and the front freewheel cranks look a little better. Can it be taken off relatively quickly? I want to ride to the trailhead lock it up to a tree then use it to get home. Motor bikes weigh 200lbs make noise and are very hard to throw over fences for those of us forced to trespass to get a place to ride. I have bad knees no car and all the trails are far away. I can take an ebike on the train. I just wish for the price someone would use more powerful and lighter R/C Plane Motors and Batteries and controllers.
  • 2 1
"Why do they cost over $3000 when a cyclone kit of the same power cost $1200." The cyclone is very simple compared to the EGOkit and doesen´t come with battery ! Even so its overpriced...no doubt!
The cable on my backpack battery is a spiral and goes out of the bottom of the pack into a plug under the saddle....in case you drop the bike , it release by itself.....several times already tested Wink
  • 3 2
the worst idea put motor in a bike a downhill bike is a DOWNHILL bike, the name say all use the legs for go up
  • 3 2
FUN FUN FUN.All i have to say is if you rode one of these bikes and yes they r still bikes .you would have the most fun u ever had on a downhill bike in a long time. Just think. how many trails do you want to ride on your DH bike but there is too much uphill on it to have fun or do multi loops on it. Now you can without any worry about hike a bikes or shuttles.Trust me I can pedal with the strongest of them but this is a DH bike. i cant pedal my DH bike up steeps.but with a little assist no freekin prob.If you want to call it cheatin who r u cheetin? Dont hate on something you never tried!FUN FUN Fun. Remember you still need to pedal these bikes but when the hill starts going up a little twist of the wrist and your there.
  • 2 3
I think they are awesome, but felimen how can you consider a 2400watt motor on a bicycle not a motorcycle. It has similar hill climbing capabilities to a 100cc 4-stroke. There is no way this could be considered bicycle; maybe a moped. Maybe a ultra light free-ride dirt bike. I am building one that is half the weight and more power because I understand the awesomeness of riding one.
  • 2 2
Four stroke...gasoline..polution..noise...you catch my drift Wink
  • 2 2
Yes, that's my point two. If you cannot ride a dirt bike in the areas you want to ride, but don't want to hike, then EGO
  • 2 2
I agree motorized dh bikes are stupid, but its not to bad on xc bikes or road bikes, youll not believe your eyes when you see an old man whos nearly 80 ( my grandad ) flying up a steep as hill faster then i ever could, there just aiming completly at the wrong market, if you want a bike to pedal up alright and rip back down, buy an enduro bike for like half the price those v10 abortions go for.
  • 2 1
On an xc bike you can climb the hill without help. Why would you want a motor unless you are injured or old. I can see it on a DH rig simply because without a motor the only way up the hill is to push, helicopter, or lift. This gives you another option but it ain't cheap and you add a ton of weight. Whether that is worth it depends on what you are looking for.
  • 1 2
taletotell, you forgot shuttling. danny-oli if a old man can ride one of these electric bikes without hurting him self due to the power on a retard-idly light bike, then I will give him massive props. You have to ride one to understand the uses.
  • 1 3
Hes perfectly fine on them, ive had ago myself a few times and i can say its honestly so much fun, like i said theyre aiming at the wrong market, they should be aimed at people who need help getting around.

I was wondering the same thing , now I feel bad for my lack of knowledge regarding the women of our sport.

That's not the bike she rode though is it? Hers was pink with an air shock.
  • 2 0
yeah, I knew she was the 2012 champ, but aboard a Cove was something I missed to notice. That bike deserves a rider like her though.
  • 1 0
yeah especially because of Cove's bike names...

personally, I think there is nothing wrong with calling a bike "G-Spot", if thats where youre aiming at Smile
  • 3 0
Only prob with naming the bike the G-spot , most will never find it.

Not 100% but if i remember correctly Steve Smith also won the junior world champs on a shocker if so Cove has a good track record with the rainbows

Those motorcycle bikes are kits. We have them for sale all over the place here in california. To all you people talking crap about them... 100+ mpg is better than 20mpg cars. I don't know about you but I can't pedal flat ground for 30 miles straight at 40mph...

Those things rip for folks with short commutes that don't want or don't have the time to pedal for 2 hours every morning to get to work and every night.

Side note... that cove is SICK!
  • 2 1
The beauty of interbike; getting exposed to different items from the biking world. Just because you do do not see a use for a product or idea does not make it a bad product or idea. As onemanarmy points out, there are people for whom the powered bikes make perfect sense.

An underwater excercise bike? just what I've always needed considering I'm an Underwater Welder by profession!
  • 4 0
Serious question: How come you don't electrocute yourself? I have always wondered. Are there precautions you have to take or is it just not an issue?
  • 4 0
Im probably speaking out my ass but isnt a welder gas-fed, so why would there be a risk of electrocution?
  • 1 0
Patrick - Cus your not earthed. shoxxer - no it used the flux on the stick , when it melts it creates a gas. But under water it can form bubbles and well explode killing you and wreaking every thing but its MiG and TiG use a gas its the the G stands for Smile unless there's different ways :L
  • 2 0
Oh and the ark is created by electric... Kinda like lightning Smile if you didn't guess im a welder as well Big Grin
  • 9 0
First I will answer shoxxer's question: Certain welders are gas fed like jonwithoutaH said. MiG and TiG welding use a gas. The gas is used as a flux or protection agent. It surrounds the weld and keeps impurities, such as oxygen, out of the weld. If a gas was not used these impurities would severly degrade the quality of a weld making it weaker and more brittle. There are other types of 'welding' that use a gas torch and flux/filler rods to weld called brazing.

Now to Patrick9-32's question: First, underwater welding is usually done by shielded metal arc welding. More commonly reffered to as 'stick' welding. This is because of the flux cored/flux coated stick is both the filler material and the electrode. So, to directly answer the question. The reason why the diver doesn't get shocked is because he does not complete the ground loop to the welder like jon kind of said. The piece being welded is connected via cable to the machine as a 'ground'. The welding assembly that the diver uses is charged to a very high voltage when in use. But will not ark until a path to its ground is completed via getting close to the piece being welded. The reason why the ark goes this route is because the piece being welded has far far less resistance than the water/diver to ground because it is directly connected via cable. Current always chooses the path of least resistance.

welding = controlled lightning is why it is, and always will be, awesome.

those twenty6 stuff are sweet. can I get them here?
  • 1 0
 twenty6 is extremly expensive
  • 2 1
But worth the price for bomb proof components that shred and look good.
  • 2 1
dont buy twenty6 DM stem if you have Carbon Bars, its so dangerous bacause the stem dont have enought pressure to hold carbon bars, and if twist, like happen to me, you dont have your brakes on your fingers, its sad
  • 5 6
brazilian you're gonna talk crap and tell people not to buy a product because of your experience? Do some research first. Carbon bars are generally smooth. Any smooth on smooth surface is going to lack in the friction dept., no matter how much clamping pressure. My aluminum bars are smooth ano and I have a Twenty6 stem on there...smooth ano, no issues because I did some research. They make a product called Finish Line Fiber grip...look into it. I bet your problem completely goes away.

And I agree with Sean. So what if they are expensive. They are worth every penny. I'm on my second season on the Predators, taken some nasty hits on them, beat them up, and still function better then any other pedal I have ridden.
  • 11 1
umm krash, usually one talks crap and tells people not to buy a product because of their experience. it's called a user review, and I think most appreciate feedback. thanks for the tip on slippery bars, i'm sure it will help, but no need to be a complete wanker about it.
  • 1 0
yeah, twenty6 is solid gear. support bozeman mt business! good riding there...
  • 2 2
I DONT TALK CRAP KRASH!!! I FELL AT HIGH SPEED GAP BECAUSE THE STEM TWIST, AND TRUST ME YOU DONT KNOW HOW I FELT WHEN I DIDNT HAVE BRAKES AFTER A HIGH SPEED GAP AT FREIGHT TRAIN, NOW IM USING CHROMAG DM STEM WITH THE SAME ENVE HANDLEBAR AND ITS GREAT, NO TWIST ANYMORE
