Video: Peaty's Launch a New Dry Version of their LinkLube

Peaty's has launched a new addition to its product range with a dry version of their LinkLube lubricant.

LinkLube Dry is a biodegradable wax-based chain lube based on the brands previous all-weather offering. The formula uses a mixture of waxes suspended in a water-based emulsion is designed to be most effective in the driest, dustiest conditions where the standard LinkLube product would pick up unwanted dirt and grime.

The new formula, when applied correctly, is claimed to form a long-lasting barrier filling the links and rollers on the chain with a "hard, slippery coating" that is dry to the touch once it has dried onto the chain. This can take anywhere from a few minutes if it is hot to a few hours according to Peaty's so they currently recommend applying the night before you plan to go for a ride for the best results.

 @senorbanana: put it in an old water bottle with dish soap solution or degreaser and shake for a few minutes. Pretty easy way to clean a chain thoroughly.

 @senorbanana: yeah, I've never gotten into the waxing, i just lube my chain like a normal person too. Boesheild t9 is my fave. Just offering a tip for an easy way to thoroughly clean a chain

 @senorbanana: I've never pulled a chain off to use Squirt. I just ride the chain the first few times with the cosmoline on (wiping after every ride). Then, I degrease, rinse with water and let it dry.......and apply Squirt per directions. As long as I wipe off the chain and cogs every ride or 2, the wax doesn't build up. And the chain stays clean. And has the lowest friction short of a wax dip.

 @senorbanana: run it for as long as possible with no lube until it squeaks like mofo like some of my riding buddies do. Voila, dry and no lube residue!

 SCC Slick has been working awesome for me. Not cheap per oz but doesn't take much and great longevity.

 I've used Squirt and Smoove. Both are very good, but I feel that Smoove is better for wet conditions. I use it all year round, no need for wet lube making a mess everywhere. I still have some Squirt left, but I use that on my road bike now (which only goes out in the dry).

 Yeah after trying Squirt a few years back while on a bike trip through Oregon it is all I have used on my bikes since. Great stuff. I don't mind it not lasting as long as some of the alternatives as it keeps the drivetrain really clean and smooth.

 How does the RocknRoll gold compare to Squirt or Smoove? I've yet to use them but have the RnR stuff

 Was pretty stoked to try some new lube since my wet lube is almost out. But, 31 mother of England pounds to ship to the US though seems high.

 I'm using motul motocross chain lube. The chain seems to not run out of lube like never. Either rain or dust, its just as smooth as new. Desgrease, apply, remove all the excess with a rag. forget for weeks and repeat.

 Top Tip: If you have the standard Peatys Lube that separates into blue and clear then you can use the clear stuff on top (without shaking it up) as a very light lube. Ideal for cables.

 Best line I’ve found for dry or wet conditions is NFS. Silica sold it for awhile under their name brand, but NFS still sells direct for cheaper at $15/ bottle. I just don’t think they have the marketing to be well known. I’m always amazed how clean my chain is after just hosing it off, yet lasts a lot longer than any dry lube I’ve tried.

Peaty’s stuff looks cool. Just expensive here in the states.

 Tried the blue one and yes it stands for some km (100)with out drying out if not caught water ,and the shifting was really nice ,but the chain ,pulleys,cassete ,and chainring looked like the older chain oils in the 90’s just a mess if you have to touch in that parts ,and when was cleaning time ,it’s a real time to do that ,but I will try this new one ,my favorite it still is the pedros’s ice wax ,it might not last long ( and it wouldn’t),but in a middle of a ride while having a beer or two just apply it and in the end of the ride just rinse your bike and your transmission will look new without any trouble (sometimes you have to clean your pulleys ),I also try it the smoove one and yes it’s also very clean but maybe to much road specific,cause it will attract to much dirt ,but only in the pulleys and some in the chain ring (but it’s real wax if you look when it dries)in the end for me the pedro’s ice wax is the best ,but the old version was better then this 2.0 ,maybe it used to have a little more wax or something (PAY ATENTION PEDRO’S ).

 The standard one they released was way way too runny, unless you have an engine oil catch tray, avoid!! Smells nice though!!!!

 I use my old fork oil. Wax does keep the chain looking clean. The proper way is to take an old pot melt a bunch of wax and soak the chain.

 Peaty's lube - "Feels like you're riding with no chain" - cause it probably fell off as soon as you started your ride.

 Pro tip #2: Husky air tool oil from Home Depot for $4 and some mineral spirits to thin it a bit.

Use an old lube bottle and mix the two to your desired viscosity. Works great and you won't buy another for years.
