Desperate to read the results even though I know timed training means nothing. DH4LIFE!
  • 5 0
For the riders doing full pulls I think these time training results have value.

Timed training is the most important part of race weekend. Prove me wrong

Good to see Loris picking up another win.

Amaury - OK timed Timed or not - to be up in the mix at speed so soon is awesome. Gonna be another great race day!
  • 5 0
Did we ever hear what his mechanical was at world champs? I remember seeing him drop in going fast, camera cut away, and then you hear later he wasn't in the mix.

 @adrennan: Looked like a flat rear tire.https://www.pinkbike.com/photo/21217737/
  • 10 0
I also heard Myriam say he'd cracked a rim in her post race interview with Wyn
  • 7 1
@sarahmoore: That is more than a flat tyre?
  • 16 1
@sarahmoore: I am not ENVEious of that situation
  • 5 0
@adrennan: Can't believe this is still happening with ENVE...
  • 3 0
Amaury is gonna go really well this weekend.
  • 10 0
@adrennan: riding on blacked out ex rims this time around
  • 3 0
 @sarahmoore: "slow leak"
  • 1 0
@sarahmoore: So riders are using tubes again. What's going on with that?
  • 1 0
 @Bob-Agg: That's an insert, not a tube.
  • 5 0
@sarahmoore: Another pic of the flat rear in the woods, from Amaury's Insta.

@kanasasa: EX for life! Screw Enve.
  • 2 0
@GrandMasterOrge: In the picture you posted you can see an insert and whatever this strip is wrapped around his frame in Sarahs pic. I can see there it's not a tube but what is it? Doesn't look like rim tape.
  • 2 0
@Bob-Agg: ah yeah, I can see now. Is it possibly the Enve Rim Strip?
  • 2 0
@sarahmoore: that rim is dead big time
  • 1 0
@sarahmoore: Mwahaha, that picture has some sort of comical aspect to it. mostly the framing that lets you understand he's moving out of the frame, the obviously unhappy (grumpy ?) face, the bump in the ground that covers half the rear wheel and makes the bike look even more broken than it is. You expect the "that's all folks !" animation just right after :p But anyway his pace is impressive already after so much time off the bike.

Nice to see Amaury up there! Timed training doesn't say much but I think he has it in him as soon as he's ready again! Can be fun to watch a Vergier/Pierron/Coulanges battle for gold in the future.

Bit off topic, but: It's 2021.. Isn't time to stop writing stuff like "Hoell" instead of Höll in lists like these? Same with slavic letters.. We have the technology, every computer can make the names right even though it's not on the keyboard layout - it's just lazy and sad to see the lack of effort to make names right. To pronounce correctly is a different thing..
  • 8 1
Well said. It is ridiculous that they can't get the characters right, absolute ignorance and totally inexcusable.

@mccarthyp: Damn straight and the mind fukc that is the camel-case if you have an Irish/Scottish name
Come on

Let get it right people there's technology lots of it so we dont even have to think for ourselves.
We have the technology we have the computers lets get it all right.

But ...
Fulc the pronunciation coz you dont care about that right @WSB ?

Or is that pronounciation if your from North America ?

What's with the UCI snubing Jr. Women?? Even last weekend there were pictures everywhere of all the winners except Yankova. Don't drop the ball UCI and media... we are just starting to see some growth in women's downhill.
  • 5 0
I expect that it’s because they’re aren’t any. I find it pretty pathetic that there are only 14 elite women racing but maybe 70/80 Elite men. Someone needs to pump some money into growing the women’s racing
  • 7 1
@enduroNZ: I think it starts with women’s riding in general. I’d say 80 men to 14 women actually skews in favor of women when looking at the ratio of men/woman who ride regularly. I’d love to see more female racers but you can’t pull from an empty pool…
  • 4 0
@witica: Agreed... but you can't get anyone in the pool if you don't give those young girls out there any hero's to inspire them to ride fast. There needs to be more effort from UCI, media and brands. My daughter has remarked several times this summer that she is the only female standing in the lift line when we were park riding. There seems to be a gap between women riding xc/enduro and downhill. That's what, in my non-female opinion, is being overlooked by the UCI.
  • 1 0
@JustGivinerrr: i think uci is only the last in line to do nothing. local support like in skiing would change that big time
  • 2 0
@enduroNZ: Its not going to grow if there is no exposure. Redbull needs to come to the party too, at the beginning of the live womens feed they should show the top 3 runs from the juniors. Same goes for the beginning of the live mens feed - top 3 runs from the mens juniors. There are lots of kids watching with their parents and if they see other juniors racing they may be inspired

Greg is a bit hungover still ?
  • 6 0
If you look at the top speed, both 76 km/hr, I think he's sitting where he wants to be Wink
  • 5 0
Over 70km/h on the woods is nuts.
I would not try this speed on a straight, wide and closed road.

@Schlumo: It's only about 45mph. I do this speed regulalry on my skinny tyred, steep angles, short wheelbase roadbike (down a particularly steep hill near me). It's fine if a little hairy on a road bike. On a long, low and slack DH bike with big tyres, 45mph is childs play. I don't know what speeds you'd need to reach to make a DH bike get all squirrely and nervous, but I'm guessing its in excess of 70mph (113kph)
  • 1 0
 @gabriel-mission9: ha ha, your f*cked!
  • 2 0
@nert: @nert: I've topped 80kph on a road bike. Steep roads and big gears make for big speed. The pro roadies top 110kph, albeit on closed roads. If I reach those kinds of speeds on a mountain bike it probably means I've tumbled off a cliff though.

How long before Mathilde Bernard gets a team sponsorship? Her ahem 'track record' in BMX, pump track, 4X indicate she has the skills.
  • 2 0
She's not even on the PB fantasy league list.....
  • 7 0
vali, pls dont go fastest at qualis...
  • 1 0
She is 7 seconds faster. Let us see if she can hold that on race day. That would be an epic time gap.
  • 6 0
Danny Hart being super consistent again. He gets very little mention but seems to be quietly getting on with it.

Its the Euro world cup finals weekend (get it? last 2 rounds in USA, last time they will race in Europe for 2021).

Thx for pointing that out (not).
I must say I am really amazed about your company’s activities in the PB forums lately.

Coulanges is my new favorite rider. I love him so much.
  • 3 1
Got a little bromance going there? Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's understandable - he's so hot right now.
  • 3 0
@neimbc: That upper body man. Broad shoulders
  • 8 0
I kind of understand you. Coulanges is impressive, terribly fast, and promising.... but as a French I prefer Daprela... and Vergier now. Their personnalities are unique I'd say, as much as their talents... and they are kind of funny on interviews.
These bloody frenchies are so damn fast (don't ask me why, I don't know) BUT I'd confess that I was more than stoked for Greg Minnaar last week end Smile

I do not see Mathilde Bernard on the women Fantasy League as a selection.

 Where's Eleonora?

 Yeah, and where is Izabela???

@yupstate: Do you know what the constitution says about church & state? Americans love to rag on Muslims with their theocracy, but the US isn't far behind. And actually moving rapidly in that direction with all of your Christian fundamentalists.

For some reason it won't let me quite/reply directly to you in the convo thread...
  • 1 1
@m1dg3t If you really believe that to be true, you're way off base; that's a ridiculous statement/comparison. I don't watch the extreme left wing news sites or TV channels but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they try to portray; but that's total BS. It's not about pushing a religion; it's just that they believe the baby is a created life and it's murder. If you believe humans are all just accidental biological computers then you can just shut down any you want I suppose. I have my own personal opinions that actually are a little gray on the topic believe it or not. But you just need to be careful about what BS you see in/on the news. But that's a long way from church/state separation where the government is actively murdering or deporting people based on religion. Here we have a religious choice, which depending on what you believe will shape your life-view and how you feel about specific topics, that's all.

The Elite Women’s field seems a bit small - since the PDF LINKS ON UCI’s site seem to broken: anyone knows why it’s just 19 riders?

@PTyliszczak: "probably"? I mean it would be worth backing that up with evidence rather than just slinging shit at the guy.
He's religious and lives in the desert and may have right leaning views (though I can't find evidence of this with my weak internet skills).
Where's the evidence he doesn't understand science? And I mean the lefty science to do with medicine and vaccines, not the manly science to do with forks and G force.
