  • 3 0
Since it is "only a 3 second difference", you won't be able to notice it while watching the video.

Okay, cool... Lets copy someone's tweet they sent in...
  • 17 0
One of my tweets was on it, I actually felt so special. Awesome job stevie!
  • 18 3
Bikenerd - I guess you can be forgiven for not having read ... well... any comments on any article or even any articles themselves regarding Steve Smith recently ... as that was not an original tweet to begin with!
  • 15 0
it's sad because stevie would actually be better than harper overall
  • 3 1
dude thanks for doing it anyways because i dont have a twitter nor do i live in canada but steve smith would still make a good leader.

No, it was a tweet broadcasted on redbull tv... haha
  • 6 0
If smith where prime minister, all of our tax money would go to trails!
  • 58 1
Not a bad way for Devinci to debut their new 650B trail bike!
  • 4 5
 Scary but true...
  • 26 11
Where are all the 27.5 haters? Stevie wins Air DH on one, and everyone shuts the f$%k up!!
  • 12 0
He was 5 secs slower than last year! The rest of the top 10 were 26" a mix of DH bikes as well , Sic Mik came 2nd full DH, wasnt Nick Beer on the Dixson, not a bad result for him! Not a hater I reckon Stevie is going to win World Champs in SA in a coupe of weeks, he's on fire and has the confidence right now!
  • 35 1
Why are there wheel size haters to begin with? Bikes are fun. All bikes are fun, and all wheel sizes. Or so it should be, but quite a few people here cry and cry and cry over wheel sizes.

Put me on a bike, any size wheel and I'll be having fun. While people cry and throw temper tantrums and make homophobic remarks about other wheel sizes.
  • 10 2
As Si Paton said, "Stevie could win on a shopping trolley".
  • 3 1
Any bike any wheels any fun.!! Keep on padling to go faster.
  • 15 1
It's not totally fair to judge his time from last year, seeing as how the last probably 1/5 of the track is different now.
  • 3 0
So 650 is still ok.!? ;-)
  • 5 2
Just watched the AirDH replay… So frustrated to see my time was good enough for podium just before I flatted! #29erRocks #nextyear
Text by Mighty Anneke Beerten on twitter.!!!

The track has changed and from Lopes' preview it sounds like it was pretty bombed out. If Stevie was first this year and last year, that means EVERYONE was either slower or the track variations are the reason. Something tells me that nobody was that slow.
  • 6 4
Im not sure if Stevie could win on a trolley cart, but Im sure he could win on a 26" aluminium Dixon, just as on 29" bike if they made one...
  • 4 0
It actually has alot to do with course conditions. If you knew how they have changed from last year it may explain different times. He probably would have rode faster if the course was the same as last year. Just sayn
  • 2 1
@WAKI I logged on just to up vote you! (I doubt it will help thought) , wheel size trolls SUCK!!.
  • 6 0
Yeah, A-line is longer than it used to be because the WBP crew put in a lot of work on that trail this year, so that in itself explains the longer times. Also, Whistler is super fucking dusty and rutted right now, so the conditions also add a different element to it.
  • 2 0
No one, not one person is saying anything that you are implying bigbossman. They were explaining why the times were different with actual facts, and all you're doing is being a child about it. You go ahead and keep crying about wheel sizes though. Reeeeeeeal mature for a 34 year old.
  • 1 0
 Wow.......just.....wow.

 26"!!!!!!! FT...........oh.

  • 22 2
 Is that you Fabien?
  • 7 0
Lol. Nah it was Greg Minnaar!
  • 9 1
Someone had to say it Smile
  • 12 13
What is the point of this? They are big boys, such attitudes make some of them who they are - great sportsmen, our idols. You can't run away from who you are and certain people have different ability to hold demons inside. and some put them on Tweeter. I hate this "I lost all my respect to Greg & Lopes" - then you obviosuly haven't got it before, and for what exactly did you respect him?! Charity, being a devoted friend, eager scientologist, cartoonist or because he's a God daeeem good rider. And if you like to see such riding why the fk do you care what his personality is? He ain't your friend and he hasn't done any harm to you or any of your friends, family or even associates - Stupid pish! They will sort it out between themselves with less than a half of a beer, while tools like you Honch and your proppers, will blow it to the size of "insert the name of your favourite rider" balls

So show some respect, cuz Lopes, has made such an impact on the sport and that it wouldn't be the same without him so you have something to thank for. Try some distance for fks sake... and if you want to dis someone, at least make us laugh by keeping it up beat.
  • 5 1
Lopes has rubbed me the wrong way for years, seems only appropriate that his tweet was complaining about some nonsense. Ride your bike, let that do the talking, not yr thumbs on twitter!
  • 1 0
 Bitter bear?
  • 15 2
congrats to stevie! gutted for mick hannah though... such a class act and so damn fast. you'll be on the top step again soon, mick!
  • 10 3
Pretty amazing considering he was on his DH bike!
  • 7 0
Stoked for Mik! So close to Stevie's time and look at the names below him...
  • 1 0
I wanna see a real pic of his helmet
  • 11 1
 Go Jill!
  • 7 1
I think that the spirit of Air DH is taken away when you essentially go around a massive jump to save 1/2 second. It just feels like cheating... regardless of where the tape is or isn't. That's why I like the whip-off..
  • 1 3
That's the whole point of the air DH. In case you didn't realize, they are trying to NOT get air. They are trying to squash at least half of the jumps in order to not overshoot to flat.
  • 2 0
Yeah, but squashing the jumps is different than going around them.
  • 8 1
That was ace! stayed up too late, time to go bed and dream of whistler again Smile

Anyone see the bike Nick Beer was riding? It wasn't a new devinci....or was it?
  • 2 1
Damn! I liked the look of that thing. Devinci porn like crazy this weekend.
  • 2 0
Not sure - Smith was on the new Troy for sure, but Beer could have been on a Dixon or maybe the Troy, it was hard to tell.
  • 2 0
the shock was mounted sideways so it wasnt the dixon
  • 1 0
New iteration of the dixon? How big were the wheels? Maybe they are filling the 140-200mm travel void? 160 perhaps?
  • 1 0
Damn I didn't even notice the shock! I need pics
  • 4 0
 I got a screenshot of Nick's bike.

Anychance if posting last year's time would like to see the comparison!
  • 2 0
 It was a 4.07.something
  • 1 0
I would think that trail conditions change enough in a year to make times incomparable. Think of the speed difference in just a couple turns depending on how braking bumped they are. Now multiply that over an entire trail. Dusty and loose or packed down? ect Everyone didn't get slower in the last year, Gwin would tell you the opposite is true.
  • 3 0
they added a new section this year as well. and the start was in a different place
  • 1 0
the same smith that win st-anne (haha) ? the guy is on fire !

  • 1 0
 Stevie you are king!
  • 1 0
 Austin warren???
  • 1 0
 Was lopes on an HD-R?
  • 3 0
Looks like he was, but with 26" wheels not the 650b it's capable of taking. Anyway I don't see the point of debating wheel size on this course. Not rocky enough to make a difference.
  • 1 1
Yes though he ran it in the 650B setting to lower the travel/BB height even though he was on 26er wheels.
  • 1 3
Good work to all! Hope they still have wrists, as riding jumps too fast to flat, especially repeatedly must be nothing less than gay!!!
  • 1 3
Only sikmik on top 5 that uses 8" DH bike (though with crossmax front wheel) in this AIR 'DH'.. should it be called AIR 'TRAIL' ? Just sayyin.. no offense tho..
  • 3 6
so funny being in the finish and hearing the massive cheer when brian lopes was over nick beers time. everyone was cheering louder for that than for stevies win
  • 3 5
Whos fitter- Brian Lopes or Gee Atherton
