No one going to mention the Marlboro Red Privateer? I don’t smoke but that thing is hilariously rad.
  • 61 0
Tribute to one of the sweetest F1 liveries.
  • 49 0
Looks sweet but ironic that the Privateer is carrying all the advertising
  • 5 0
A fine day for the parish! @peteristaken on IG if anyone wants to see more of it.
  • 8 1
clearly a fan of Gerhard Berger

 Hilariously rad indeed. Go Marlboro!

@HeManHunter: Or his much slower team mate /s
  • 2 0
I think there must be a Showa and Mario Boss advertising to make it perfect.
  • 1 0
I love the Privateer. It’s always been a perverse fantasy to kit out in ‘Marlboro Adventure Team’ gear, and hit the lifts.
  • 6 0
@Alexanderskh: Yes, you've got it right! I was thinking the same, a classic Mclaren livery. RIP Senna!
  • 2 1
Everyone scrolling back up to "notice it"
  • 11 0
Thank you! I did it with rattle cans and it turned out pretty good! More pics on my instagram page @PeterTistaken
  • 2 0
It was nice of Ricky Gervais to show up with that sweet bike and let a few punters take pics.
  • 2 0
@PeterT: Dam, went and checked out your profile for more Marlboro pics and stumbled on the video of the train gap. That is insane! Doesn't get any more committing than that!!
  • 3 0
That Glory in Snowbirds colors was sweet too.
  • 6 0
 Video incoming.
  • 3 0
@powderhoundbrr: haha yeh that was a fun day! I debate doing it again every time I drive past, maybe !
  • 3 0
@Alexanderskh: Schumacher's Jordan Racing livery, the FujiFilm comes in a close second
  • 3 0
@PeterT: dude, that’s insanely well done for a rattle-can job! That just makes it even better in my opinion. Well done!

So at first I thought this was one of Marlboro's "raffles" they used to do for skiing. Basically Marlb reps would go in and out of bars all over the country and raffle off and all expense paid trip to ski Bridger in MT. Then come the trip, they'd all fly to MT, load up on a bus and come into our shop to get outfitted with skis and boots.

Marlb provided them with ski gear. Every last one of them (50/day) kitted out in a Marlboro ski jacket and pants. It was hilarious. Most of them had never had been skiing let alone seen a mountain. About 5 smoke breaks later they'd finally crammed themselves into their boots and were off for the first outdoor adventure they'd had in the last 20 years except to get the mail.

1-2 hours later, 75% of them would be back down to give us back our equipment, either pissed off or broken. They'd head straight to the bar for the rest of the day. Man there are some fun stories from those crews.

I thought this bike was something like that ski package and I was thinking to myself "oh HELL no...".
Hats off to the paint job, absolutely had me convinced.

@lehott: my personal top always includes black and gold Lotus, Senna's or Raikkonen's
  • 2 0
@krashDH85: My old man was a big time Speed Skier in the 80's he has lots of cool swag from Camel, Marlboro, etc. Stories of Camel Girls walking around with free packs for everyone. Different times.
  • 1 0
@lehott: hells yeh, dude I was close on doing this too (as I’m Irish, and I’d get to stick the shamrock and IRELAND on my top tube haha but I thought nobody would get it
  • 77 0
Ah, so even the pinkbike staff can’t find a SRAM chain to purchase…

TBH, it’s not hard to go chainless at Whistler. Just keep the momentum up.

It’s a lot of fun too.
  • 43 4
 @ChopperCat11:
It's fun until that split second you forget you don't have a chain, you go to pedal and there's no resistance so you almost bin it over the bars.
  • 4 0
 Whahahaha
  • 9 0
And she switched from Marzocchi to SRAM? New 2023 rear shock as well
  • 8 4
At what point is a DH bike set up 'Park Style' just a big scooter?
  • 2 1
@christiaan: They offered her $5008.99 to switch.
  • 40 1
Do I bring the awful 2007 bike to my local parks opening day for max street cred, or do I bring my awesome 2019 bike for max fun?
Decisions decisions
  • 3 0
100% I am going to show up to either opening or closing day at Whistler on my 01 Intense M1 someday.
  • 38 0
Not enough clapped out old bikes!
Not a single Kona Stinky?
  • 4 0
It was actually pretty quiet up there, not a ton of riders or anything too old and beat up.
  • 25 0
Shout out to Mr. Giant Trance, need more ‘average dude’ bikes on here
  • 15 0
Genuinely would love a 'workhorses' thread where people post average bikes that have given them a lot of joy. Bikes must have been owned and ridden by owners for at least 5 years. Bonus points for mismatched parts, outrageous mileage and elevation done on them, and stories of good times had.
  • 5 0
@mattg95: Checkout NSMB's minmaxed series they're running right now
  • 4 0
The contents of this post is very accurate to what an "average dude bike" looks like in Whistler, theres not many old bikes. You see a lot more at the other bike parks e.g. Silverstar
  • 22 0
 Marlboro privateer 161 wins.
  • 17 2
 Where hardtails
  • 5 0

I come here every year to see people rocking 90’s dh bikes with massive smiles. Disappointed this year, but glad people still smiling
  • 1 0
those people are on a budget and won't go to there when 70% of trails are closed Big Grin
  • 9 0
How are those 16 year-old kids affording these $6,000 bikes with Kashima etc??
  • 15 0
It's like 0.00000000061% of the cost of a condo anywhere near Whistler. Parents can afford it.
  • 6 0
Lol it’s whistler , a 1 bed condo costs a million bucks now ,their parents aren’t short for cash
  • 5 0
Awesome to see some younger riders, I'm convinced cycling is strangling itself with pricing and choking the rider pipeline out - gotta get teens, twenty somethings passionate and engaged so they can buy more bikes after dental school. Also always great to see some women in the field.
  • 8 0
Dude with the M16 is literally peak Whistler unlocked.
  • 8 0
The guy with the Xprezo Super-D is clearly skipping work today.
  • 6 0
That's gotta be Benedict Cucumberpatch with the custom RM Maiden at the end?!!!
  • 1 0

  • 5 0
That RAAW Madonna looks like a bundle of joy
  • 1 0
It really is! more photos on ig @robperry__

Is it official, 26" is dead? The Trance and the Enduro gave me hope briefly. Unless the Xprezo Super D snuck them in
  • 3 0
 Can't kill'em. 26 is dope.
  • 4 0
Pretty soon brands are going to be selling "chainless" bikes.
  • 4 7
 They are called e-bikes
  • 4 0
Most those are kids with very expensive bikes ..how??
  • 1 1
Tom and Christina confirmed doing a chainless race video or 'how much distance can you cover chainless in the bike park' video... Smile

Also CC is SO small. Like she has this tiny bike, but it looks like it fits next to her, shes tiny, the bikes tiny. I feel bad for her tryna film chesty footage. Need to run the visor angle instead.
  • 2 0
Does that mean christina chappetta has a new sponsor? She's been on marzocchi for a while right?
  • 1 0
Flat pedals everywhere. I really need to go back to them for a few weeks and learn how to ride proper again. I cheat so much with my clips, lately.
  • 3 0
I would not put shell on a bike they are a horrible company.
  • 2 0

  • 2 0
The 'THMITH' sticker on the helmet was amazing!
  • 2 0
Good to see the Xprezo still hittin it. Hoping Dsastr bikes take off!
  • 1 0
Got an Xprezo Ad-hoc this bike is a beast, super light and jesus you can shred with it. Way better than a brand new Norco Shight that crack on crank it up lol.
  • 1 0
@Ba1rog: Good to hear it! They look so nice. I have been trying to find one for a while. I still have a few old Balfa 2 steps that come out from time to time. And all 3 of my old BB7s are still in action. They made some great bikes up in the East. I supported the boys from day 1. The Dsastr titanium fs bike is a sweet looking rig too.. I have been afraid to reach out and ask about it..
