That was probably Ronan's first full run!
Bernard is going to get Goldstoned again isn't he?

Maybe, but Jackson had to arrange for BK to have a fked wrist to achieve that

What about the women? Do they not have to qualify too?
  • 24 7
I'm not sure if anyone has done a top to bottom run yet. There's a big difference between doing individual features and stringing them all together in one run without a tow.
  • 38 0
@watchmen: Believe I read Gracie had completed a full run
  • 55 0
There's been no seeding results published for the Women yet. If any become available we will add them in here.
  • 7 0
I was thinking about this earlier, like what's the official plan. Checking out their Instagrams earlier today I believe Gracey is the only woman so far having ridden the full track. Several had planned to try the final jump this morning, but it had gotten really windy (and then wet), so they decided to cancel. However, they were also saying they're hoping to see if they could still do it tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it's just about trying it in the morning practice, or if they could still actually do proper race runs. Of course I'm not sure if any of the women have even planned to do the actual race, which would be absolutely fine, but I'm just not quite clear on how the Hardline rules and processes work.
  • 3 5
@watchmen: Lots of them have and the 70 at the end wasn’t included. Further, it was expected some men might ride by the bottom shark fins (don’t know if any did). Tahnee gave it a miss and plans to race tomorrow. Let’s Go!
  • 20 14
@edspratt: a comment in the article would have made that clearer.
  • 1 1
@watchmen: most people have done full runs.
  • 12 0
@cypher74: just Gracey and Cami have done the last jump
  • 30 1
@edspratt: If Gracey can get in a race run, no matter how fast, it will boost the confidence of every female rider there to astronomical levels, and the push will be on.
When someone takes the leap Wink itll be full on from there. It just takes one to prove its possible, and itll be incredible!

@Coolcmsc: lol none of the dudes are skipping any of the features on the course, if your a male and not hitting every feature there's not a chance you'd be getting to any sort of event like this let alone have sponsors. Different standards.
  • 4 5
@lewiscraik: Do you think its possible that was unknown at the time the article was put out?
Do you have the info now?
I was also curious about the womens status, so I came to the comments, and low and behold, heres the info!

Some peoples kids man....
  • 3 0
@onawalk: Seems like Redbull too isn't providing too much details on this in general, so it's hard to blame Pinkbike. Like they've been sharing some videos on their Instagram all week, although not too many, but today they only shared the seeding results (without the times) and one clip with a countdown timer to the race start, not mentioning anything about the track modifications for the seeding or the lack of women there. Luckily the riders themselves are once again sharing more info in bits, but parsing it all together from the 30+ accounts is a bit much. So indeed the comments here seem to be the best place to find everything out.
  • 11 1
 @mcfadden999: Bye, now....
  • 16 3
@donimo: This is a big step, a huge step, a monumental step.
To show people failing, or not making it, or riding around could be damaging to the sport, the riders, etc.
I'm willing to bet RedBull et all are taking a conservative approach, and letting the riders make the call.

Theres usually very little footage of women in these events, or the womens events as a whole, and I think thats intentional. They are putting targets on their backs from people like @mcfadden999 and @luckynugget who want to criticize, and derail that atmosphere of support and camaraderie. Thats just my two cents

Lets not think badly about any of it, lets just spectate, support, and see what happens. Its gonna be awesome!
  • 2 2
Of the ladies haven’t done a seeding lap how will they decide the riding order, assuming they race.
  • 5 0
@chrismac70: I believe they don’t race unless they do a complete lap first. Only two have so far. Don’t know if that makes a category of 2 or it’s everyone or nothing. I think the rest are still going to try and full run before the race. Since there’s only 5 or so of them they could rock paper scissors for starting order.
  • 4 0
@onawalk: Yeah I'm not demanding more riding clips or similar, but some kind of information on what's happening, especially if and when changes are being made. Here we are wondering if the women did have a seeding today or not and what can they do tomorrow, guessing about the fast times and someone commenting that apparently the track was shortened, all that. Not criticising the choices made one bit, but the lack of info and updates. Just mentioning that due to difficult conditions the seeding runs will be modified, small things like that, some kind of social media presence on what's going on. I understand Hardline has quite a different structure to it than many other races, but like I mentioned before, I at least have no clear idea what that structure is for the event.

weather was rainy and windy. not really ideal conditions for the sladies. smart call. don't think they are super competetive at this event. more about world firsts
  • 3 1
@onawalk: idk bud, unless you’re going to do an entirely separate event for the ladies, I think it’s more damaging to downplay their participation.

These features are big and proper, if someone is going to talk shit about the ladies they’ll be doing that in any format….

Watching female riders struggle in bad conditions / tough but regular sections of track at WC telegraphs much more of a “lol they can’t even ride the track” mentality…hardline is a track that some of the worlds best racers won’t even ride because it seemingly isn’t worth the risk.

I don’t see how the females struggling at hardline damages the sport. Makes me respect them more.
  • 1 0
@nvranka: Im not saying it damages the sport,
I merely said that could be a possible reason why you dont see more coverage at these events.

You might respect them more, I sure as hell do as well.
I was offering up an alternative for people getting upset with RB for not providing more coverage, I cant see why RB would invite their RB athletes, and not promote them, unless there was circumstances we werent aware of.
  • 2 0
@suspended-flesh: Louise must have. Gracey is first to drop followed by Lou then all the men except Edgar
  • 1 1
@mtshakira: not throwing shade, good for them, glad to see the girls included, just the comment "some of the guys aren't hitting all the features" is kinda ridiculous. that's not an option for the guys.

 Go George.
  • 7 0
All the riders are great, but would be super stoked if George came thru with the win
  • 19 0
Jeez, didn't Bernard predict a 3:10 finals time on his channel? He's beaten his own prediction by ten seconds. Can't wait to see Jackson's race pace, he was probably too busy blasting berms on that run
  • 22 0
Sounds like they just went as far as the road gap for qualis because of the wind.

Think the fact it is more like a DH race on steroids than the Welsh course will make for closer racing and open the podium to more riders. Whilst id like to see BK win i think JG may get it.
  • 3 0
Welsh weather turned up for seeding yeh?
  • 2 5
It’s a DH race on steroids? Please elaborate.

That’s how I view the welsh course; to me, this course feels more like a pretty standard bike park trail on steroids, not a proper dh track. WC tracks would do well to be more similar to the welsh track, except the humongous jumps that are an integral part of hardline, but not something that fits the traditional of a race track.

Some big gaps from 1-4, but my guess is they are not going full race pace yet. Kerr naturally more comfortable at a higher pace thanks to the extra testing days.
  • 2 1
Maybe. But all the sections where time can be made up were closed and most not even ‘cut’ when he visited to check the big jumps (which won’t be where time is made up as there’s a fairly fixed pace over them to avoid a lethal over-jump. They all know how to scrub. The big question is who was cruising a bit in those new conditions? And, is it true Jackson missed out the shark find?

and also its Kerr, buddy. Other riders were testing alongside him. He's just that good.
  • 1 0
It also rained today. That certainly made a difference and opened up gaps. Weather should be good for tomorrow and I expect it will all be much tighter at the top.
  • 2 1
@scott-townes: Hes incredible, when he can finally get a WC DH win, thatll be monumental for him!
  • 2 0
BK is that fast. He was a fraction of a second out of 1st at Snowshoe and had like 3 top 5s last year.
  • 1 0
@suspended-flesh: According to PB randos, you're wrong. BK isn't that fast, he only did so well because he had a little more time for "testing" LOL.
  • 1 1
@scott-townes: Like 1 person said that, and you might naturally think that someone who had more practice would naturally be more comfortable (ie faster)

Not saying thats the case, but that seems like an entirely plausible idea

How did Jackson get 3rd without hitting the shark fin? Where’s the girls seeding results? Tomorrow’s race is going be awesome! Come on Marra!
  • 2 0
Where did you see him not hitting it?
  • 2 0
Jackson missed the sharks fin? Where did you see that? Marra took it oh and got tenth, so…
  • 2 0
@kingstonwarr: it’s on Marra’s vlog, Wyn was stood at the shark fin and said Jackson didn’t do it
  • 15 0
During seeding the wind and rain was hectic so the finish line (timer device) was bought up before the shark fin. Most riders didn't do it, many just stopped before it but some chose to carry on and do it for steez. Final jump was closed with a steel gate so these times can't possibly have been for the whole course.

Women's seeding didn't go ahead. They didn't tell us why as far as I know.
  • 4 1
@doakwolf: I saw the final jump was closed but I didn’t know they put the finish line before the shark fin. Thanks for update about the girls

JG wasn’t the only one that didn’t do the shark fin due to the wind.

My friend Sebastian says the results are not really representative because all the gaps were closed due to strong winds.
  • 2 0
Watching some of the rider vlogs that seems correct. They were not racing the full course.
