With information exceptionally thin on the ground, we're going to have to keep staring at the photos for a little while longer until Commencal releases the full details of their new bike.
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, just attach it to a new wagon.—Mark McCormack
@mtbracer4098: Nice find - thanks! I was pretty sure they couldn't be for bottles - the clearance inside the triangle is too tight for even YT's sippy cup. I was imagining a spiffy "enduro" product - cool to see Wolf Tooth is doing it. Have an upvote!
The wet-frame photos are an interesting choice in my opinion. I’m sure it’s been done before but this is the first i’m seeing it, and i’m thinking it’s not a bad idea (: By making people notice that, they look more intently, high draws your eyes to the details. Not too shabby Commencal (:
the "wet look" is used in a lot of real estate photography, and a lot of movies have wet sidewalks/streets in the backround. something about reflecting the light better....
I still believe, those 29ers just exist, so that those Eagle cassettes don't look so ridiculously huge...
Just kidding! What a great bike! I'd love to try it out.
FUCKING A COMMENCAL!!!! Should be a hell of a 29er line up with great pricing. Really dig the tan paint. I know who is getting my money in a few months.
@YouHadMeAtDrugs: Yup, I just wrote this below. (I think it's all good though, people just need to relax). I've been on the HT for many rides, and it's the first time (ever) that I've experienced such a beast bike that felt XC on the climbs (super nimble and responsive) and super capable on the downs (beast mode) without feeling monster truck. My feeling was that every bike company would copy the hightower lt, which is just fine. That's why I was wondering the travel on this Meta front and rear? 150, 150 - anyone guess?
Don't be daft. If you want a bottle cage, buy a bottle cage and bolt it to the downtube. I'd take pedals over a bottle cage anyday but you see me complain? These cranks come with provisions to mount pedals, there is nothing stopping people from bolting pedals on there.
Oh hell yeah. This is going to be sweet. Notice the internal cable routing for a shock remote? Kinda cool. I hope the high-end version is raw alloy with orange Fox SLS spring and 36
Looks like new cable routing above the bb. I just got the 4.2 and the routing is a bit cleaner over my housemates v4. This new way would eliminate the cable bend under the main pivot and the need for the clamp. Also added cable holes at the top tube means Australians like me can run their brake cables much cleaner! To bad the 29er wasn’t available 2 months ago
NSFW. I knew I was tasting the future when I built my five29 a "bit on the heavy side"
I love how the shock is inline with the toptube and "seat stays", but how would that change if you bought an XXL? masses of seat-tube/top-tube-interface-swoop?
I'm not sure why someone down voted you? Whatever. Good question. I've ridden Santa Cruz's Hightower LT and as crazy as it sounds the bike is incredibly nimble (XC feeling) on the climbs, and super beast on the downs (without feeling like a monster truck). I could get hated for saying this, but I think EVERY bike company this year will copy the Hightower LT from SC, which is what I'm wondering this new rip from Commencal is?
Commencals tend to have multiple colours, particularly for the Metas. The AM 4.2 has black, anodized black, brushed (+NZ and WC variant), orange, red, BC edition, and Gun Metal, and that's just for 2018.
@MrEtnie: press fit isn't as bad as some make it out to be. I've had a V4 for 2 years now and still the same BB with no creaks. I think the biggest problem is jamming 30mm spindles on them. Go 24mm.
@bobtjustice: I second that. The only nitpick I have about my 17 Meta is that it isn´t the best climber (compared to my previous Bronson) due to weight and seat angle, BUT what a beast once you point it downwards
I'm not a fan of the bright green or yellow fluorescents, but I just cannot get into putting tan on a bike. It reminds me of my older brother's room in the seventies. Horrid tans and browns. ug, I can still smell his armpit of a bedroom.
2 of them.
Let's party:

Also, such a great looking bike!

Are those the gravity version of those tires? Sidewalls looks burly.
