Alpine Bikes Winter Series - Marshal Collapses and Alpine Bikes Winter Series - Marshal Collapses and Dies.
We are deeply saddened to report the unexpected death of John Harrison aged 61 of Kidderminister near Birmingham in England.

John had volunteered to be a race marshal for the weekend at the Alpine Bikes Winter Series Downhill Mountain Bike Race at Innerleithen in Scotland. He was dropped off by 4x4 to his designated marshal point just prior to the start of practice, moments later John collapsed and despite the best efforts of the attending medics he tragically died. His family suspect natural causes were the cause of Johns death.
Practice was postponed and all riders and marshals were brought down the hill safely and the police were called and attended the incident.

Darren Berrecloth, Cameron McCaul, Blake Jorgenson(photographer), Todd Barber(Logistics) and myself(film maker) all look at each other for a quick second, taking a brief moment to let it sink in that we are not in North America anymore. This is a long way from home and we can't let ourselves forget that.

We've been riding together for a while and he definitely needs to be recognized as a solid local rider. This kid is top notch both on and off the bike. I can’t just say this is the best trail bike you’ll ever ride, or that I have ever ridden. That don’t cut the mustard so I’d better spend the next hour or two of my time explaining why. Please grab a seat, a cup of tea and a biscuit and have a dunk, this will only take you 5 minutes.

Sometimes you're on a road trip and forget things, like gloves. So you go to the local bike shops and you drop your hard earned cash on parts. Here are some of the parts that I've bought on recent trips or seen and thought-hell ya I want/need that for one of my bikes or for me to make my riding more enjoyable. Have a look at the Shift Strike gloves, the Lizard Skin's Charger grips, Dakine's Cross X gloves, North Face's Jacket, Chromag's Seat Post Quick Release, Sombrio's Forensic Glove and of course my Goodyear MTR tires.

Andreu Lacondeguy: first mountain biker ever to at Andreu Lacondeguy: first mountain biker ever to attempt a backflip on a snow big air ramp
Andreu Lacondeguy is the first one to land a backflip jumping a snow big air ramp on a mountain bike. Exactly a week before his 19th birthday, Kona-Teamrider Andreu made his way into mountain bike history. About 7.000 visitors of the Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Graz paid tribute to the courage of this uprising young Spanish athlete.

Jumping a huge sized snow ramp constructed for skiers & snowboarders is a risky attempt itself. Only a few mountain bikers did take this chance before. The snowy surface in combination with the high speed and the distance of the jump itself are the factors that make it a real stunt.
