Race Face SIXC crankset review
Race Face has been around as a component manufacturer for almost twenty years, supplying mountain bike parts for all segments of the market while developing innovative new components that hold up in challenging conditions. In early 2010, Race Face introduced its SIXC handlebar and crankset to the mountain biking world and this new family of carbon components was meant for demanding use on longer travel, all-mountain bikes.
Since I installed the cranks on my bike a few months ago, I’ve been putting them through the wringer and, despite a few criticisms, I am duly impressed by the overall quality and performance of the set, which I feel ranks among the best on the market.

Race Face Dayz - Part 3
Part of the job of being a pro mountain biker is having to get up at unruly hours of the morning, and then go perform dangerous stunts at your physical limits with little more than a coffee and a high five to go on. That was the case on day three of our Race Face team trip to Penticton and Silverstar Resort.

Riding protection and a few wintery items from RaceFace to keep you comfy and stylish on the bike in the so-called 'off season'.
Race Face has always been a company devoted to creating purpose-driven gear that doesn't suck, so when I received a box of stuff this past spring I was anxious to see what they've been working on lately and how it can enhance my riding experience. Race Face started their apparel and protection line a long, long time ago and built it around the rigors of riding the infamous North Shore and it's variable riding conditions. This translates to clothing designed specifically for mountain biking, built of performance fabrics, with top-notch construction, and all this really shows through in the long run.

With the success of Race Face's proprietary Optimized Carbon Technology program, Race Face has decided to take another step into making your bike lighter, and stronger while still providing you with the same ride comfort and reliability you need. SixC (the c is silent, eh!) is the next step in cranks and handlebar development being constructed out of carbon fiber. SixC is a true AM/FR product, 20+ grams lighter than anything else out there and perfectly suited for the 5 to 6 inch travel range. Here is some information on the new lineup.

Back in the days of spandex and skin suits anodization was the thing, but it was slowly fazed out just like the other two items. Recently we have been seeing more and more anodization coming back into the market, and it's actually refreshing to see, especially as it's not all purple! Companies are mixing it up with some crazy colors, and some neat designs, while still providing a shout out to those days that only some of us remember. Race Face recently launched their anodized lineup in a plethora of colors, 7 to be exact, and all of them are separately unique looking.

Interbike 2008 - Race Face Deus LTD cranks and the EXI interface
Race Face has always had a nice booth at the show and this year was no exception. In fact, between the Heli-biking movie that was playing on the flat screen, Brett Tippie walking about in lycra, and some wicked brew being passed about, I'd venture to say it was my top booth pick of this years show. While lounging in the bar stools Julian busted out some flashy new red cranks, the Deus LTD.

Interbike 2008 - Race Face 2009 Pad's
Canadian company Race Face has your best interests in mind with their expanded range of pads. New for 2009 is a slim fitting knee pad called the Dig, as well as the Zero, a half length knee and shin pad that looks pretty sick. All the woman out there who ride will be pumped to see that Race Face is thinking of them also with their new ladies specific line of protection.

Race Face Components and the Whistler Mountain Bike Park announced today the completion of their first ever trail branding collaboration. Race Face is in its seventh year as the official components and armour sponsor for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, and a new two year deal was inked in April of this year. As part of the new contract, Race Face chose to sponsor and brand the appropriately named trail Crank It Up, a great all round blue trail for all riding levels.

Whistler Air Dome opens April 11th and Race Face is on board for year number 7
The Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s Air Dome in its second year of operation, is set to open April 11. The Air Dome, best known for its huge 20x28 foot foam pit, is located at Base II on Blackcomb Mountain and offers an indoor, weather-free training facility for all levels of mountain bikers.

Race Face Performance Products announced the launch of their new and much anticipated web site – www.raceface.com. The stunning new site debuts with a completely new look and feel; however users will find all of the content and features the original Race Face site was known for. “It was important for us to maintain the ease of use so many people loved about the old site.” explains Craig Pollack, President and CEO of Race Face. “We’ve retained the navigation style and function that worked so well, while introducing a host of new features. For example, all product information and tech specs are available in four languages for Race Face’s ever expanding international market.” The new web site is a completely hand coded piece of digital artistry.

I have a confession to make. I’ve grappled with an affliction for most of my life, starting with my first Schwinn BMX at 6 years old and on through decades of cyclelogical obsession. The truth is, I’m a bona fide Gearhead.

The submissions for the Trans Germany portion of the UXC are officially in and are online for your viewing pleasure. You can watch the videos, read team profiles and vote for your favourite all at www.raceface.com/uxc. For the next two weeks voting will be open for the Trans Germany with the winning team will be announced on Friday, May 18th. At the same time, voting for the Trans Alp will commence and we’ll announce those winners on June 1st.

Race Face Riders and Teams Clean Up In 2006
2006 was another year to remember for the Race Face Freeride Team and our International Sponsored Teams. Paul Basagoitia and Darren “The Claw” Berrecloth continued their domination of the Slopestyle circuit. Kurt Sorge and Wayne Goss strengthened their resumes and showed us they are ready to take on the challenge of playing with the big boys. Our international race teams, Commencal and Kona; both had stellar seasons and finished with a Crowned World Cup Champion.

By the slimmest of margins, Team Saguenay captured the majority of votes in the first round of Race Face’s UXC II and in doing so have earned the opportunity to compete in this year’s TransRockies Challenge, representing Race Face. Team Saguenay (35% of votes) just edged out the boys from Idaho, Team Tamarack Race Face (31% of votes), by only a handful of votes.
