1. Thomas Genon 90.20 2. Martin Soderstrom 86.80 3. Cam McCaul 82.80 4. Brett Rheeder 80.60 5. Anthony Messere 79.40 6. Casey Groves 78.60

Thomas was the only rider to trick onto the Joyride Shack
Thomas Genon dropping into history.
Given the wind, the pressure and the sheer gnar factor of The Boneyard this year, the run Genon threw down was nothing short of sick. I strongly suspect we'll see a Red Bull lid on his head within a week.

Soderstrom midway down a richly deserved second place run.
Soderstrom should legally change his name to "Whip-O-Matic". Double whips, triple whips, he has them all, on his last run he crashed out attempting a 360 double whip on the cabin gap. If he'd stuck it he may have won the whole thing...
McCaul is back
Cam McCaul has been coming off an injury for about a month (Cam crashed out of the Claymore Challenge back on July 19), and until the first day of practice, he had not been on a bike in what must have felt like a thousand years-recovering from an injury takes time, and Cam's not at full gas right now, so taking third was a fantastic ride for the Trek/Fox/Rockstar rider.

Brett Rheeder put together a great first run, but then ran into a bit of trouble on his second two. Huge tailwhip over the hip...
...and a truck out of the satellite.

Anthony crashed out on his last run, but decided to just boost the hip anyway...

Cam Zink was having an awesome first run, but then overshot the 60 footer on this giant flip nac, ending his event.
Sam Dueck is another of those riders that has a great bag of tricks, and just needs to put a clean run together.

Cam McCaul (third), Thoman Genon (FIRST!), and Martin Soderstrom (second)
Thomas, welcome to the shower room.
Kinda sucks when you can't get the cork off your bottle and defend yourself...
Sucks even more when you give up on popping that bottle, throw it down, and Cam McCaul - a pro champagne bottle popper - gets ahold of your bottle.
Sucks even more when Cam helps you drink down that freshly opened bottle.
And you get a cracked tooth.
Cracked tooth? Who cares--I just won Crankworx Joyride!
What I would like to see is a crash reel from all the crashes during practice, qualifying and finals. It's crazy to see what they get up and walk away from. So much respect
I have a huge amount of respect for groves after hearing about his cousin. I remember seeing a video about it years ago about him being diagnosed. Very moving stuff in my personal opinion.
Possibly the most disappointing Crankworks SS i've seen... only because of the record number of crashes and flats... Those who made it to the bottom did awesome..!
I agree, but Whistler has always been a bigger course so that's bound to happen. Also, Rheeder made me a believer today, he got robbed. Love McCaul till the end, but Rheeder deserved third.
Really? I thought it was the best contest of the year. Yeah, too many crashes where the course may be to blame, but at least the winner wasn't decided on run number one. Very entertaining. But my one wish was to see someone push Semenuk to throw down on a final run. Too bad Martin didn't land that last trick to force Genon to throw down.
disappointing ? why? Grooves almost cries after an amazing, after that almost every pilot tried to step up his run.The Genon's runs were amazing . The wind was the same for everyone. This Joyride reminds me when Paul B snatched the win to all the big pros
There wasn't even really a competition, it was decided in the 2nd run and the winning score was a 90 last year it was high and mid 90's and people were stepping up and pushing it in their second runs.
That course was terribly built compared to bearclaw invitational. Im very disappointed at whoever made it because those landings where not packed and thats what screwed everyone over. Im sorry if you disagree but thats my opinion, i give props to whoever rode it and made it to the bottom.
didn't darren crash and injure some vertebrae because of an unpacked landing in practise? A course like this should be perfect IMO. Congratulations to thomas genon, Martin, Cam! Cam always cracks me up xD
Yes he did. I was talking to his mom about it and he said when he called her, he was really ticked off. Darren made his course absolutely perfect, and then to come here and see this course was really disappointing seeing how it's a diamond event
Ya, it's definitely a bummer. Super cool to see things get mixed up in the standings, Genon had an incredible run, but it was almost gut-wrenching to watch Semenuk go down again on his second run. Flipping off the flat drop was absolutely bonkers, he looked like he was on (but truthfully, when doesn't he ride smooth). Was also super stoked to see Groves back up there. I feel like he got a little robbed for points, but that is likely just me wanting him to do well. So many awesome riders, and always such a wicked event.
Groves had a solid run, but there weren't any super huge bangers. I feel the judging was fair. Still stoked for him though, and it's especially awesome given all that he had going on.
Agree 100%, there was great judging. I was just really hoping to see groves pull up there after getting totally burned on his last season. He's such a great rider, but was getting counted out way too often. They're all great riders, and I'm always so stoked on all of the riding.
i wish brandon hadn't crashed both runs and we could of really seen what he had up his sleeve for tricking the last few jumps, i bet he would of gapped over the whole kokanee cabin while throwing a flip whip or some shit
if semenuk had held on, i think he might have won. look at the tricks he was throwing before he crashed, he might of fronty-ed the 60footer, and flipwhipped the cabin. although genon was the only person to trick the stepup to the cabin.
from brandon i wanted to see dialed backflip off the drop, corked 7 on trick jump, flip whip off the balcony for the win! crushed at the results but everyone did great, soderstrom was rad too
I was traveling and tried to catch it on my phone, but my coverage dropped right before zink and semenuks runs. I'm wondering the same thing.
Congrats to Genon though!
I'm feeling sorry for Brandon, but happy for McCaul, finaly he got on the podium ! His ride was absolutely stylish and clear, except that RedBull baloon at the bottom
To anyone dissapointed with the contest runs, the conditions todat were horrible for a slopestyle contest. give the riders some credit for even making it down to the bottom in one piece
i love semenuk just as much as the next guy but i mean finally some one else gets the top spot and soderstorm with second those guys have been chompn at his tale the whole season... great job!
Semenuk's just such a chill dude, I feel for him man. I had him on the top of my list and I'm sure most did. Losing is rough, but he'll be back for rampage and I can't wait! congrats to all the Crankworx riders!
stoked for Casey, Stoked for fogel making it into the finals, Stoked for Cam, Stoked for Rheeder too. bummed for the swede and semi.
rampage awaits boys!
Psyco track!! Make your bones yard!!! Congrats to the top 3 but we all know Sem puts up 90 + score runs in his sleep. Guess he human afterall and has those bad days on the mtn like every other rider.
Possibly the most disappointing Crankworks SS i've seen, genon deserved second, martin first, also too many crashes (wind) congrats if you made it down!
Any new information on Mr. Zink? That landing looked like it hurt, slow getting up? The way he landed I would have put him on a spine board. Sending positive vibes in his direction.
would it be that hard to bring in some hose, or pour freaking water bottles on the landings one by one???? this is a FMB gold event sponsored by red bull for heavens sake!!!
The other guys were not as high in the air and their angle of approach was mellower allowing them to slide out farther and walk away.
Zink bounced on his ass then slid.
I cringed watching it.
Zink overshot and over rotated the 60 footer, landing way deep and directly on his tailbone. I hope he is ok. That type of crash could have paralyzed him by crushing vertebrae and severing the spinal cord. It wouldn't be surprising if he actually did fracture a couple vertebrae, despite being able to get up and walk away after a few minutes.
broke my bake and tail bone with a similar type of crash mine was not flipping a 60 foot gap but i did land the same way on one of the jumps on dirt murchent
I was standing next to the gate he walked out of. Some media guy was asking him for an interview he just looked down and walked away. My buddy said hell probably go home build 20 more features and train even harder for next year. Anyway hes still my favourite rider. Congratz to Thomas martin and cam though. They threw down some pretty intense runs and deserved it.
worked fine for me too but I just can't fathom why they keep those announcers. I sit there the whole time thinking, am I really the only one who can't stand to listen to these guys?
Well that just confirms what I already suspected. Brandon Semenuk is a sore loser. Every other rider that went down (crashed) acknowledged the crowd & paid their dues, What does he do? curls up on the ground having a whaaa like a little cry baby then rides down & completely ignore the huge ovation the crowd is giving him & rides out the other side of the finish area. I guess he still is only 21 & a bit immature when it comes to handling himself in that way, notice know gracious in defeat the older riders were when things didn't go their way.
You're reading way too much into it. The guy crashed hard and did you watch him every second on the walk down? How do you know he didn't acknowledge or if he wasn't concussed?
huntaway being a douche. i can't even imagine the kind of pressure brandon was under after this season and winning last year, everyone expects him to do perfectly all the time. losing in your hometown and not even making it halfway down the course would have me walking out of the arena too. don't underestimate how human everyone is, i doubt you would even set foot in the start gate in front of a crowd like that.
Congratulations to thomas genon, Martin, Cam! Cam always cracks me up xD
Thread hijack I know, but we ALL want to see him ride a real bike.
If something has been posted, could someone let me know?
He is lucky if he did not break his back.
I did on a similar jump gone bad.
