Chris Akrigg is a professional tea drinker, mountain biker and actor...wait, something's not right there! With so many strings to his bow, Chris is nothing if not versatile! Swapping the Yorkshire drizzle for some Spanish sun, Chris is proud to present "Five".
The Downhill was pretty cool to watch, but am I the only one who found the uphill even more impressive??? The best thing about this vid (and all of Chris' others) is that he just looks like he's having so much fun.
Chris is awesome on all things short travel , but he seemed lost on the longer travel bike (DH), still awesome riding and most importantly fun factor is high on this edit as always!.
Chris Akrigg, along with Dan Atherton are among the best bike handlers in the world imho, such amazing control and precision whilst making it look effortless and smooth!
I cant even do that sort of thing in my head let alone with my actually body. his bike handling skills are ludicrous. Also his edits always put a smile on my face, nice to know someone in the sport doesn't take themselves to seriously.
You're not the only one. That was the most stylish uphill riding I've ever seen. Although my mind was really blown at 4:55 with that MC Escher stair case decent.
Agreed. That uphill scene was amazing. All around champ. The shot of him and his goofy smile eating an ice cream cone made my day though. That and drifting the single speed at the beginning. The dude knows how to have a good time!
damn. no knock on mongoose but this guy deserves to be making big dollars with a big brand. one of the best riders in the world and can handle any discipline. that uphill was amazing! all around great guy and by the looks of the power he was putting down during that climb, fully recovered after his big crash. cheers chris akrigg
Well well well, this is hard, where to start??????
Climbs like a goat, pedals like an Enduro racer, rides DH like if he had throttle on his bike, combines trial skills in between then in the building under construction shows besides great skills huge balls and then to cool offf the litlle bike????????
Let me not forget the beautiful spanish girl to have one of the best videos ever filmed about Having Fun in a bike!!!!
his survival of that horrible fall that busted his body up real bad (I guess most riders have seen that video of him falling down the rock face), is my indication of his truly mad skillz, as taking a fall from that height and surviving to ride again is a true indication of ninja skillz
@Rich-Downhill28...are you Dan Atherton? Mr. Surly couldn't carry his jock. Akrigg is at another level entirely. If you meant Dan(ny) MacAskill, then you'd have an argument.
Mongoose are so underrated, he wouldn't be riding for them if he didn't believe in the product and if he thinks they are good enough that's enough of a reason for me. It's best not to judge a bike on what the biking community thinks is a cool brand or whatever, Kona used to get so much wrap and now they are producing some absolutely legit bikes.
hey i ride a mongoose and they're good its just they aren't the best. and you're right its just his flavor of bike apparently and akrigg rocks it. i've just seen and ridden a lot of their bikes and i'm amazed at what he can do with their geometry etc. haha thats what i was gettin' at.
rjscherbaum...I agree with you, I have always thought that mongoose was crap, but after looking for some bikes, I soon realized what quality they actually are!!! www.pinkbike.com/product/mongoose/2010-BootR-Team
I'll have to agree. It is seldom that someone excels in EVERY discipline of biking...taking trials to uphill riding? Insane. Shred the DH, no problem. The power slide on the commuter was sick. One of the best riders I've seen. I thought the video was really creative too!!
I guess every bike company would like to have a rider like Akrigg - just give him any kind of bike and he will make it super entertaining to watch Chris never fails to amaze me...
F.Y.I. the high end Mongoose bikes are manufactured by the Doral group which also makes GT bikes. The bikes sold at wal-mart are made by pacific. The stigma of them being a wal-mart bike is why they aren't selling the high end in the US.
In the US Mongoose is cutting back their line. I can't find any reference to a 2013 boot'r or any of their good fs frames. Looks like they are giving up their top end again. Sad.
but we are living in a Global economy and if you want / need a "proper" 'Goose frame get on the internet with your money and you can source one, no problem
Took me a second to see he was on a pit bike when he switched to a bmx. 20's look like clown bikes anyway he just took it one step further with the 16 inch. I wish I could morph my ride like that or better morph my skills into his.
Solves the wheel size riddle. 16" is the light and the way. So obvious...Converting my V-10 now.
WOW! Amazing rider. Uphill - sick. And that huck from one roof to UNDER the top floor was a forehead smasher. Pipe roll - classic. Nose wheelie down the stair ramp? That was insane. Fixie in a wet skate park? Really? Impossible. WOW!
As usual, a awesome edit from Chris.
You and danny, the wee jock hopper should get together for a video. That's a template for an amazing edit on paper.
It is physically impossible to ride a DH bike like that. I have therefore come to the conclusion that the so called "Chris Akrigg" is actually a witch and we should start hunting it immediately. If someone can get the stakes and firewood I shall organise the pitchforks. We shall meet 08:00 Sunday morning in Barcelona and start from there. Who's with me...?
On another, more serious note, that was some epic riding. I can't help but think he'd be horrendously slow at DH though - he spend too much time having fun on any and all the features!
i know you're kidding but he's fast at DH and wins most masters events he enters. I was at an alpine dh race at inners a few years ago and he smoked the whole masters class on a single crown teocali. He could make elite class at DH easily if he entered enough races
This is the creative, mind-blowing vid i'v ever seen for the past year! Chris's imagination never let you down! And, yeah, he did incorporate some trials skills in DH!!! Would anybody deny that trials skill do help shape the future of dh?
Better add director to that list of talents. Probably the best directed bike video I've ever seen. Up there with Life Cycles anyway, but we get to watch this for free. Chris Akrigg, you f*cking nailed it again!!! Do you ever run out of awesome ideas?
Everything about that video was amazing! Scene transitions, music transitions, rider transitions, the riding. Wow! Oh and apparently I need to take up bike trials. What skill!
I´m showing this video to all my mates who spend fortunes on super expensive bikes thinking the better the bike the better the riding and this vid shows clearly it´s the rider not the bike that really counts.
That was the most impressive uphill shreddage I've ever seen....gotta love roosting corners while you're climbing!!!
The rolling pipe ride was also one of the coolest things ive ever seen.
Super talented in every bike AND also in each process of conceptualizing, filming, editing.... simply amazing! Again, you are a very talented guy Akrigg. Even threw in some humor(good one too) in there, just a perfect edit! Definitely V...O...D...eee
Wow!
Im either gonna quit riding now or reach out to you for some lessons!
Thats was probably the best everything ive seen in a long time...
Bike Skills, edit, plot, music, locations...
...I hate broken glass though, reminds me of cleaning up after idiots at my shooting spots.
You sir, deserve a raise.
Cool Yorkshire Skill from the man himself
His vids are always something a little different ut always about riding and yes, he does look like he is having fun and TBH i think most that make vids do too, well except for a certain few ... .. ..
The uphill stuff got me because its damn hard to do, we can all ride down hill, some faster and smoother than others but to go up techy climbs is the stuff of voodoo!!!
Geez man i think everything was amazing!!!! Thee uphill, thee downhill, nose manual down the stairs, rollin the pipe haha it all was great. He must have terminator legs haha.
I never get tired of seeing Chris rip a bike, ANY bike. He'd probably destroy it with a tandem or trike with a basket, for that matter.
His vids keep bumping others down the list of my all-time favs. Fun vibe and sick riding.
At the start, I thought he was going to chase that white van. From his house he just carried his bike to the street which is quite ironic on what he did thereafter --- I find it funny. Equally adorable other than Akrigg's skills is the concept of this video. More power!
conquering that uphill section (2:21--2:50) would be near impossible without an excellent "trials" experience and IMO: that's the root of his versatility.
Entertaining vid.
Perhaps he is not the best of the best in each riding disciple, but to be that good across such a broad spectrum of riding is truly very impressive. He also seems to have a good sense of humor, appears to not take himself too seriously and just has a good time. What is not to like. Even the a hot woman with an ice cream cone.
Such a fucking badass. He's been a massive inspiration to me as long as I've been riding, from his old trials noir sections up to this. And on the topic of bike handling, he stopped riding trials competitions because he got bored, and they wouldn't let him ride without a brake, no normal person would even think about it, and we all know he would have won too!
I am super impressed with this video usually 5 minute + videos usually dont keep my attention for the entire thing...This was awesome! one of my favorites yet!
chris has a ton of skill, dont get me wrong here, but it seems like his videos are getting less interesting. i feel it is mostly because he doesnt want to get back out on the edge again after his injury, which is the way i feel about a sport that i do. i still love watching him ride because he is having so much fun, but the cringe factor is gone
What a great video!!! ALL OF IT was unreal. Never seen a dude with the jeans of a squirrel, monkey and billy goat all in one and to be able to ride a tykes bike like that! What a great job making finding bicycles fun!
ridden, produced, directed and edit by Chris Akrigg???? Sick!!!!!! Beside could be a multi discipline world cup bike athlete, he could be a multi talented artist too???? You could make some people hard to find a job Chris..
For those people who always have some excuse, is the rider who makes the difference! Uphill, downhill, urban, even with a small bike and in any place any time you name it. Awesome video.
Thanks for sharing Master Akrigg.
I've been following Chris for quite some time now and, on top of being an amazingly gifted and versatile rider (the DH part is testimony to that if needed), he has the ability to surprise me with each new vid. His films are far from the run of the mill movies we see by dozens on the Net and that all comes down to one thing - this guy has FUN on his bike(s). 'Nuff said! Chris, you're a (good) monster!
Danny's best film is still the original Inspired video. No Red Bull leash around Chris's neck.....Just fun films with amazing riding made for riders - Respect!
I was so amp'd after checking out the vid, I went outside to do some tricks and unless the Endo is now considered a trick, I didn't fair too well, Much respect for his riding abilitiy...keep on kickin out the vids brotha!
To come back from a serious injury and shred harder than ever deserves a huge amount of respect. Insane riding , incredible skill , awesome vid , fairplay Chris Akrigg
I always think I'm a good rider, but then I see something like this and fee like I suck. This guy tore it up. Dang! Awesome skills. I've got some work to do.
Oh God if you ever again let Chriss break his bones I swear I will find you and kill you! And all I can thin about while watching this vid is "f@ck yeah!f@ack yeah!
One of the best videos I've seen! Amazing riding...great fun...makes me want to jump on my bike and go ride now! Too bad I'm stuck at work right now....*pounds desk*
The best thing about this vid (and all of Chris' others) is that he just looks like he's having so much fun.

yeah, mad skillzzz

Nice grafitti at 6:59
its sad but true what you say

Chris, along with Colin Stweart, is a real master in composing, editing and assembling his vids.
Whereas in almost all the other vids shown here the clichés are just poured on ad nauseam (slo-mo, timelapses, for example) with a total disregard of any sort of storyline, Chris knows how to tell the tale and how to make us grin.
Oh yeah - and he just redefined what "all-mountain" riding means
Master!
Totally back to true Akrigg form on the bike(s) !!
Has to be one of the most talented all-round riders of his generation.
Again, you are a very talented guy Akrigg.
Even threw in some humor(good one too) in there, just a perfect edit!
Definitely V...O...D...eee
