If you haven't heard of Stirling Grassick then you'd better wake up a little. He is a 16 year old shredder from Kelowna BC. Stirling and I have traveled around BC to many gatherings and competitions.

This was Stirling's first year excelling in competition riding and he placed very well at all the events he attended. Read on to learn more about what he's been up to.

When is comes to clipless shoes and pedals, the first name that always comes to mind is Shimano for me and for good reasons too. Shimano was the first clipless pedal I ever saw in the early 90's and I owned some of their shoes in the late 90's. On behalf of Evil Bikes I am stoked to announce the signing of World Cup downhill racer Steve Smith. I first started hearing Steve’s name about 4 or 5 years ago when I was still racing BC and Canada Cups. It was always murmured along with phrases like “the next big Canadian racer” and “has the potential to do well at a world cup level”. This year Steve took big steps to reaching that potential with a break out season, which saw him claim the US Open title, post a 10th place finish at the Andorra world cup, and debut in the film Seasons. As a fellow rider I am excited to have Stevie as a teammate, we have always had a great time hanging together and I like the confident approach he brings to his riding. The generally soft spoken 18 year old usually lets his riding do the talking but I forced him to sit down and answer some questions so that all of you could get to know him better.

Guys it's recall time, THE FAILURE DOES PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. For this reason RockShox are putting in place an official RECALL and replacement process. SRAM has issued a recall of certain RockShox Domain 302 and 318 fork models produced with a steel steerer tube. The manufacturer has determined there is a potential for the steerer tube to fail.

The fourth and final day in California took us on a wild ride. Instead of going out and hitting the Skate Park or riding dirt jumps, we went surfing! Isaac brought out a couple of his surfboards to let us give it a go. What I didn’t know was that Isaac is a pro surfer! How awesome is that, the first time we were learning to surf was being taught by a pro.

I grabbed the board and headed out first.

Nike released their 6.0 series of shoes a short while ago, and has had a very strong following. The 6.0 series was designed around kids who shred it, and want to look steezy while doing it. With such riders as Brandon Semenuk, and Mike Spinner rocking the 6.0 shoes, Nike has created a large following of rippers.

Bowcycle? CycleMob? MOBLIFE? What does it all have in common. Well, MOBLIFE is the life of the Cyclemob. Some of the Cyclemob riders are more known for there presence at Bowcycle, however they are all linked in one way or another.

When push comes to shove CycleMob is a small group of rippers who have put together a small video named MOBLIFE. Take a peek at it, you won't be disappointed.

It has been a great trip so far and today wouldn’t have been a better riding day. The sun was shining and the bikes were rolling. Since yesterday we rode Skate Park, today we really wanted to ride some dirt. We headed over to National City to ride a local spot. The jumps were really cool, but they were really complicated. They went like long gap to short gap to shorter gap and just messed you up. They were really tiring as well. I took a break for 5 minutes and then grabbed my bike and both tires blew up, I was like WHAT THE &#$%! Not again! We were about to head to a bike shop to get them fixed when Chris saved me…again! He pulled out two tubes from his truck and once again, Chris thanks a lot man!

It was almost two weeks ago when I packed $9000 worth of bikes in the back of my mom's minivan. Our destination, somewhere warm, new and free from snow. So we printed out a map courtesy of Google and set a course for Drumheller almost 160 km away.

All right, so today started of really rad. Woke up early and found out that the jam didn’t start till 2pm. So Carl and I drove around San Diego and found a couple sick skate parks. Instead of being bums and chilling at our hotel, we decided to hit the beach for some photos. Then I decided I wanted to go swimming, so I went back to our rental car (yea we got a PT Cruiser) to change into my shorts.

Most 5 year old kids dream of riding a bike – it’s the first real taste of freedom. Typically the bike doesn’t matter, as long as it has two wheels and can handle dropping a curb or two. But Riley is no regular 5 year old. This kid dreamed big - and sometimes when you go big, it really pays off.

It's been an exciting wait, I have never been so eager to go anywhere in my life. All last night I packed, got all of my bike gear ready to go and went to sleep. Although, it is not very easy to sleep when you are excited for the next day to come. It's like waiting on Christmas, only better!

It has come to the attention of FOX Racing Shox that certain individuals and / or entities are modifying FOX forks to accommodate mountain bike wheel sizes other than those having 26 inch nominal diameter. One such modification includes removing material from the lower leg cross bridge in order to fit a 29 inch tire in the fork. Such modification will ultimately separate the lower fork legs at the cross bridge (i.e. the weakened cross bridge will fracture) and may cause bicycle instability and crash that result in SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

WTB created the Weir Wolf tire for “Mr. All Mountain” Mark Weir. A man who actually enjoys grueling all mountain events like the Downieville DH (a 15 mile downhill with a 4000' descent) and the Hell Ride (a six to eight hour event, covering 60-80 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing). So how does a tire that’s designed by some one so crazy hold up for the average Joe?

Being stuck in an office with two guys staring at computers for 12 hours a day for 4 months can really start to wear on you. Jamie Houssian and Darren McCullough had certainly not been ideal co-workers. When I first talked to Donny about running his premiere tour for The Collective’s new film “Seasons”, I thought to myself, this is going to be great - working with a couple of bros, going for coffee and lunch, beers after work - I was stoked. Man was I wrong. Maybe I didn’t realize what goes into editing a mountain bike film, but I ended up working with the likes of a couple of suits downtown trying to “make it”. Crazy hours, limited convo, heated film debates, and a general lack of mountain cycling.

Our wet as hell version of winter is fully upon us here on the Wet Coast of British Columbia and I'm not stoked on it. With that in mind, I've to started commuting to work again like I did from time to time while I lived in Calgary. Turns out next week (November 17-23) is actually the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition's Bike to Work Week. Here is my set up that I am currently running and will make changes to as the winter gets worse and I remember what all is needed to make the ride more enjoyable on all these wet days.

The SDG Dirt Comp 2008 has come to an end. The Finals were held on the A4 trails, home trails to the organizing SDG crew. Jeremy (MTBpro), Nicky (BMXpro) and Jean Pierre (MTB) won the finals and the overall titles.

This past weekend I lost my virginity and crossed the border. I never thought the United States would be so different than Canada.

I just got my L, so I wanted to drive across the border to see the crew at Transition Bikes. I totally had a brain fart and forgot that in the US you drive by miles per hour not kilometers per hour, so when we started to drive I was going about 80km and out of the corner of my eye I saw the speed limit sign and it read 50. Therefore I was like "Ah Crap! I don't want to get pulled over my first time in the states with my L". My Dad and Tyler just laughed at me. This would be one of the many things I learned on this trip.
