Watches daughter roll into oblivion. Thinks: well, I still have one child left pans back slowly>
  • 112 2
that was seriously one of the funniest crashes Ive seen in friday fails, for a multitude of reasons.
  • 114 0
Cant show favouritism. Stay focused. Get both kids on camera. OK. Now check on her.... Dad of the year
  • 71 1
Don't forget that if he starts freaking out for #1 it will put pressure on #2 and likely make #2 crash as well.
I've learned my lesson: always pretend everything is alright.
  • 4 1
 @Gibbsatron: I need this clip
  • 34 0
How many of us had "This is awesome!" run through our minds or spill out our mouths before the inevitable crash?
  • 15 0
@powpowpow: yep. the ability to equitably distribute attention and documentation as well as praise without showing a shred of excessive love toward one of the other is an art not easily mastered.

#2 is satisfied with equitable screen time. #1 will be stoked at being on camera until fully out of sight.

As a dad of a little girl like that, I tried HARD not to laugh but that is so funny I just keep bursting out laughing....good job dad....lol
  • 24 0
The crash was awesome. The casual pan killed me.
  • 3 0
I've seen that one before on IG and first comment is always "mom of the year". Hilarious!!!

I really hope she was alright so I can feel less guilty for laughing so hard.

flag snideremarks (Nov 22, 2019 at 12:54) (Below Threshold)
As much as I love this video and can happily watch it on repeat endlessly, here's the thing...

The videographer is laughing before anything happens, and then has exactly zero reaction when she crashes...

I argue this is not a parent. It's without a doubt an older male relative who offered to take the kids for a bike ride and talked them into "you know what would be cool..."

Heartless, a touch cruel, but still a work of art.
  • 24 0
@snideremarks: you are mistaking cruelty for common emotions among parents with more than one child.

First kid...all things could murder/death/scar/tumor/contaminate/hemmorhage your precious little bundle.

After the 2nd kid, you realize short of being thrown against a wall by a bull, kids pop right back up.
Injury type 1: The louder they scream, the less hurt they are.
Injury Type 2: They go silent. They're not hurt...they're embarrased or mad.
Injury Type 3: They go silent and IMMEDIATELY make direct eye contact with you. Trip to the E.R.
Wink

@blowmyfuse: Good to know! Thanks for the tips Smile
  • 2 0
@blowmyfuse: I am laughing here because you are absolutely spot on and I have now remembered many times experiencing these same scenes with my kids. Thank you.
  • 6 1
@MattyBoyR6: it also depends on age, gender and who’s around. I have seen things with teenage boys and girls...

Boy crashes - I feel no pain and I am not embarrassed! I fact I did in on purpose to make everyone laugh! Faints since there’s a giant stick perforating his kidney.

20-30yr old Girl crashes - I feel no pain even though I do! But my pride has been damaged so I want you to suffer with me! In fact I want you to suffer more, so I will be giving you shit and silent treatment alternatively for next 2 weeks saying it’s ok, until I see you really mad at me, to which I will say, what is your problem! How can you be like that after I crashed?! Then uses every occasion to remind you how awful you were until you either break up with her or never take her riding again. Then she will give you sht for not spending time with her. If you ignore it right away, she will get bat sht crazy but it will stop right after.
  • 8 1
@WAKIdesigns: for the record, saying “I have seen things with teenage boys and girls” never sounds quite right...

 @MattyBoyR6: #whenparentsknowTheyjustKnow
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: I'm going to extend the age range from 20-30 to 15-40's. Dating in my 40's, same shit more wrinkles.
  • 1 0
@2:05 how does the camera attached to the helmet of the person crashing stay straight on to the carnage while the body attached to it rolls in the image!!!??
  • 63 0
I will never not stop to post this under friday fails:
If you crash during a backflip/barspin/nohander/name a trick you didnt fail - it was part of your learning curve and you‘re already up there in the best 10%.

In other news, that kid disappeared into the shadows and serves now the dark overlord.
  • 17 9
It’s not a fail - it’s progression. And it’s also a full send. Always respect full sends...
  • 4 0
I dunno man, some people just have zero self preservation and a lot of confidence instead of ability. Wish I had less self prev too some times.
  • 4 1
Mostly agree, but simply trying a trick doesn't necessarily mean you're in the top 10%.
  • 1 0
@dbendixen: I think the top 10% is very hard to quantify.
  • 5 1
More like top 0.001% to be honest
  • 1 0
@WAKIdesigns: True enough, it would be interesting to see how many repeat actors have been featured in FF. for example, "the first time, I rolled that drop at 2 kph and THAT didn't work, so the next time, I hit it at 30, and THAT didn't work."

In other news, if you make Friday Fails, every day should be Core Day.
  • 29 0
How do you watch the last crash? Is there a way to turn off all the pop-up youtube shite?
  • 9 10
 Adblock plus.
  • 5 2
No love for Adblock Plus huh? Haha.
  • 3 0
@chriskneeland: it's good, I just felt it was too bloated.
  • 2 0
@Nictue: Worked as charm, thanks !
By the way, quite a nice, rocky trail that one !
  • 3 0
Something I always meant to ask too. Thanks for brining this up. It's like cutting to a commercial in the middle of an important part of the show. Move those dam pop-ups!
  • 3 0
@chriskneeland: Just in case you're not aware, Adblock Plus allows for "acceptable ads" (I think they call them "unintrusive ads") where companies pay for it to let their ads through the filtering. This IMO makes it less than honest compared to uBlock Origin, which does a much better job and uses community-maintained filter lists.
  • 2 0
@TheFutureIsLater: I don't know how people watch youtube without ad blocking. I was amazed that they make you watch entire commercials at the beginning or throw up banner ads. I have no problem supporting free videos with advertising but it's so over the top and obnoxious.
  • 2 0
@plyawn: Oddly, with ABP I never see any ads. I don't have it installed on my work computer and it's almost unbearable to browse. Everything I visit has flashing ads of anything I just searched. At this point, the advertising is driving people away from their sites. ABP is just easier to manage for me. I just set it and forget it. But I will be looking at uBlock Origin.

My crash immunity has been activated, I better go ride now
  • 5 0
 Please report back. (Crosses fingers)
  • 26 0
" THIS IS AWESOME!" ...takes out trail marker. HAHAHA the best.
  • 19 0
Wooo! Huck to front flip at .58 is epic!
  • 1 0
 yep, almost landed
  • 4 0
He got a great pop . . off the front wheel. Smile
  • 1 0
@rcrocha: Yep, kind of looked like his fork had lost all damping abilities.
  • 14 0
i love the two different guys who called it before they landed "oh f@#k".......crash. we have all done that. And the little kids hitting the sign. I will show that to my kid who can find a red tree pad from anywhere on a track!!
  • 2 0
Im yet to have a crash that wasn't preceded with "oh f*ck!"
  • 4 0
I was going to mention comparing these back to back. The laid back, take-it-as-it-comes, dulcet utteration of 2 Minute Guy vs the it's-all-over of 2:32 Minute Guy.

It would be nice to be leading the life of 2 Minute Guy...it has him set up pretty nicely for this.
  • 3 0
@iammarkstewart: hahaha ive been both. When you know you have messed up but the landing isn't going to be SO bad vs the oh shit where am I going to land, is there rocks in there ARGH moment
  • 5 0
@iammarkstewart: I don't think i want to be leading the life as someone known as '2 Minute Guy.'
  • 3 0
@kittenjuice: Clearly I'm not even that good if I didn't think this moniker through. I'll see what my wife thinks later, may or may not report back.
  • 14 0
It's nearly the end of 2019 PB. you have around a month to scrap together a Fails of they Year montage and awards voting system.
  • 8 0
Whats up with that wallride at 1:20? Come off a little early and go right into the backside of a wooden landing? I get that its an expert level feature but to have no bailout for coming off even a split second early seem ridiculously dangerous.
  • 3 0
 that looked so unfortunate
  • 1 0
Yeah, it is sign posted as an expert trail and has a whole lot of big drops and jumps before hand so usually you'd expect riders to easily make it. Probably one of the easier features on the trail just unfortunate he slipped off, and I didn't see how you'd make a bailout option?
  • 2 0
@EliasFritzen: Gotta love Woodhill for the fails, been making the pinkbike cut for the last few weeks running.
  • 1 0
@doe222: Ha. I used to ride there when I was a Jafa
  • 1 1
It's worse because actually it's not even expert level, anyone could just ride on to that. If you had to gap on to the wallride then it would be classed as expert, and they could get away with making it sketchy af!!
  • 1 0
@JamesGTi: Yeah true but to get to the wall ride you need to go off of a good 2-3m skinny drop first
  • 6 1
the more i see these the more i am convinced that people don't know how to set up their suspension. go ahead, prove me wrong.

2:33 you can hear the dudes tire rub on what i'm guessing is his seat going up the lip. that shouldn't happen, sorry. promptly followed by the gnarliest pogo stick i've ever seen.

yeah proper form plays a huge role, but so does your suspension.

edit: tire indeed rubs on whatever that crap is hanging off his seat. set your sag correctly!
  • 14 0
I find their lack of rebound disturbing
  • 23 3
@usedbikestuff: missed opportunity: "i find their lack of rebound shocking"
  • 6 0
Bud these people have bigger problems than suspension setup
  • 6 0
@novajustin: I was taking the darth Vader approach
  • 5 0
 @usedbikestuff: Really dampens my enthusiasm.
  • 2 0
2.33 is what happens when you hit the lip with your weight back and rigid as a corpse. I thought the tire buzz was on his arse.
  • 1 0
@nvranka: no kidding; don't let Fox and RockShox make you believe "if only I had the right equipment!"
  • 1 1
@nvranka: as I said, form plays a big role but so does your suspension. Try reading.
  • 1 0
@novajustin: I’ll try harder next time dad.
  • 5 0
Good compilation. Now that I have a keener sense of my own mortality, time to go ride. Then drink a margarita, then ride some more. Then crash my bike and post it for sale, barely used.
  • 7 0
How NOT to be a helicopter parent
  • 3 0
Above there was a comment abt shock settings, etc. That could be the reason for some of these, but man I'm forever caught off guard by the fact that actually PULLING UP on the handlebars is not an option. It's crazy. Watching someone's front just die out from under them, only to have the same person pop up off the ground like they're surprised the went OTB gets kind of old. Eh, PinkBike, how about a how-to or demo on what handlebars are used for!
  • 1 1
We pull on bars when squashing or boosting... that is not the reason for their crashes. There are many. You can do a great catapult if you ride too far back with soft arms and rigid legs, then compress the lip in the wrong moment...
  • 1 0
@Maui Pump track riding can teach a lot when it comes to learning proper preload of suspension. Shifting weight at the right moment makes all the difference. Bunny hopping might be easier to grasp on a bmx, but I use preload techniques for drops to allow both wheels a level takeoff.
  • 5 0
Couldn’t focus on the last crash. Was distracted by that rats nest of cabling. Wtf
  • 7 0
 Must be a scott

Stands in front of a drop that he is aware that he has no business hitting, knows everybody’s watching, including kids. But then he remembers he has elbow guards and too big long sleeved jersey, so he sends it. Yes.
  • 1 1
Kind of reminds me of an experience few yes ago while riding vert.

Random dude (non cyclist) shows up with his friends, who egged him on to borrow a bike, a full face helmet and roll in... Ramp was about 13ft tall.

Dude was super excited, all eyes on him... Proceeds to crank full speed along the coping, and just shoots off the deck to flat bottom - completely missed the transition... Smacked his face (thru helmet opening) on the cross bar. Basically a 13ft drop to flat... Ends up knocking himself out for a spell, friends laughing at him... He finally got up and just left. Never saw him again...
  • 5 0
 @jjwillTOmaui: that’s f*cked up
  • 4 0
First time the opening crash has nearly outdone the pinkbike explosion
  • 3 0
Nothing is worse then when you have time to say "Ah F$%^k" prior to impact.
  • 1 0
What happened to the guy at 3:00 - 3:04?

Was cruising along, seemed to be past all visible obstacles... and then loses control, and hits the deck?

Is there something there thats just not visible on the video?
  • 3 0
 sooo many "AHH F@#$" moments

2:37 - Crap Chute at Mountain Creek?
  • 1 0
 oh yeahhhhh
  • 1 0
@fedfox: I went for it my first time at a bike park back in May. Ouch. I've mastered a whole bunch of jumps at Creek, but still not willing to send it on the Chute yet. Next year.
  • 2 0
@eragot: Just need to trust your speed. Go full speed and just trust that because of the size of the lip/launch its not going to send you nearly as far as you think it will. Its easy to think you are going too fast and back off last minute.
  • 1 0
@sino428: Need to meet up next year.
  • 1 0
Good thing Nick didn't opt for one of the bigger ramps.
  • 1 0
Haha. Right?! Funny thing is I hit this one three times easy. Just getting tired I guess.
