 Did anyone understand a word Ratboy said?
  • 61 2
 Nope. Not one.
  • 20 2
 Came here to post about Ratboy having a mushmouth. I'm proud that you guys have it covered for me.
  • 6 2
 I just woke up and was like, quick everyones walking it let's go. That's the first bit, took a while to figure out
  • 2 0
 @thook: It was the part after that that I didn't catch
  • 18 0
 It's been more than 6 years and I still don't understand a whole sentence.
  • 75 1
 Me listening to ratboy is like the Austrian 100% volunteer trying to understand English!
  • 55 18
 He basically said that most americans should travel a little more to broaden their linguistic comprehension...i beleive said said that there would further benifits beyond linguists too.
  • 25 13
 @Monkeyass: I've been to 8 different countries on every single continent other than Antarctica, I learned pretty decent Spanish in the 6 weeks I was in Seville, and I STILL didn't understand half of Ratboy's words. So I don't think that idea works
  • 6 1
 @Monkeyass: basically he said, what are you talking about.
  • 81 1
 I'm from the same country as him and I don't have a clue
  • 2 0
 "what are you talking about?"

 I heard "melannam namma" at least twice.
  • 1 0
 @thinkbike: ..............wellie weary times in fort william and then what are you talkin about.
  • 9 0
 @MTBCAM: i'm just glad, like i just said, that these wellie wearing types aren't on track when i am. clear as anything, i don't get how you can't understand him.
  • 2 1
 @TaiuSofHebdeN: Lol ya....clear....right Wink

 Wellie-wearing = Wellington boot wearing types. Whenever Ratboy talks it's like a sudoku for my ears. Good puzzle to keep the hearing sharp.

 You think the carpet pissers did this?
  • 9 0
 Oh! I did understand one whole sentence - "You ain't gonna sing bro?"
  • 6 6
 You boys would do well to travel outside your own borders every once in a while... Not only will you see some amazing places and open your mind, but it will also help you to understand more regional accents.
  • 4 1
 I can translate for a nominal fee
  • 1 1
 Watch "Snatch" 500 times and then you'll start to comprehend Ratboy's message!
  • 2 1
 @KrazyK69: no you wont its a complete different accent, snatch is full of cockneys and pikeys. oh an the first part for anyone that missed it "I just woke up and was like everyone's walking it, quick lets go"
  • 5 1
 @Monkeyass: Except for the fact that I lived in England for a year and understand most of the UK accents. Ratboy has a mushmouth not because of my lack of travel or cultural isolation, Ratboy doesn't have a mushmouth because of cultural blanket statements by an assumptive Norwegian, Ratboy has a mushmouth because he can't articulate the English language.
  • 1 0
 @MrMentallo: This...
  • 1 0
 I could not believe they chose to interview him during the redbull.tv stream, of all the racers there...maybe Warner's idea...
  • 3 5
 @MrMentallo: BS!
Stop making excuses for yourself.
He has a unique dialect for sure... but its 100% not his fault that YOU can't comprehend it.
  • 3 2
 @MrMentallo: oh here we go mr big mans traveled the world, lived in uk for a year an thinks he knows every uk accent haha. hes not got "mushmouth" its a strong manc accent which i can understand every word. lastly it's our language an you guys butchered it.
  • 1 0
 @albrow22: I 3 irony.
  • 2 3
 @albrow22: Since you are obviously better than me, how about you try and write a complete sentence using proper grammar. Since we've "butchered the language", how come you can't even write it correctly? If you are going to talk trash about ruining the language, you had better come correct and have the basic ability to write it correctly. Go back to school until you can play with the big kids.
  • 1 0
 Should be I (heart) irony...
For whatever reason, the less than symbol drops off.
  • 2 0
 @MTBCAM : I thought that's a struggle only for non english speakers
  • 3 0
 @MrMentallo: Dudster, the same would go for you? 'you had better come correct' that's some beautiful sentence structure boyo. Spelling and grammatical abnormalities aside, Ratboy just have a strong accent live with it.

Yours faithfully,
The Assumptive Norwegian (although I'm actually British, just living in Norway)

 I can never really fathom why people rather answer "yes" to every damn question they don't understand and ridicule themselves then just stand their ground answering "Sorry, I don't speak English". It seems like they're hoping for a miracle like in the movie "Bedazzled"...

 @Boardlife69: You're clearly overdoing it. Right now:

Hahahahahahahahahahaha: 2 upvotes
Hahahahahahaha: 4 upvotes
hahahaha: 8 upvotes
Ha. (that's you): 2 upvotes

It is clear that if you want more than 8 upvotes, you need to stay closer to "hahahaha". Jumping straight to "Ha." was much too extreme. I'd recommend you try "hahaha" or "hahahahaha" to figure out which direction you should be going at. If none of these options gets you more than 8 upvotes, you're out of luck and we have a clear winner.

 "For everyone slagging us off after Wyn TV said we "declined an interview with him" at Fort William: this is what happened- I was super upset about something personal and Wyn came barging into my space being the joker that he is & I just couldn't get my head around it & didn't want to cry on Wyn TV, so I said no to him, he wouldn't take no, so I ended up telling him to F*** Off. It was nothing to do with gee, so please stop hating on us and figure your own lives out. Surely I have the right to say No I don't want to joke around right now?? Without you guys thinking we are stuck up A*holes . @wynmasters @svenmartinphoto"

 Pretty crap from Wyn... as usual... he must have been able to see that Rach wasn't keen but persisted... very selfish... you have to be to earn cash from making videos which ridicule strangers I guess. If your laughing at it your no better.

 @MTBCAM: yeah but the athertons can dry their tears with their rainbow jerseys.

wyn might have a rainbow pillow case or nitelite.
  • 16 13
 @stacykohut: True. I never said they weren't great racers. But considering their status, they're sure soft
  • 44 13
 @MTBCAM: they are not soft, they are just intense.

too much at stake for that posse to fool around with social media goof offs.

too much money invested, and alot of money to be made when things go really well.

they obviously want things to go really well all the time.

again,the wc may be a hobby for wyn, but its a job, a career for the athertons.
  • 10 2
 @stacykohut: now that made me laugh. Top comment

 @stacykohut: Well said sir..
  • 16 3
 you know, this was the best Wyn TV ever, and I think it was because he was a little bit less of an asshole, on camera anyway... He's funny - but he's better when he's a little less mean spirited.
  • 4 0
 @cuban-b: robs dirty business. Rob Warner
  • 26 5
 @stacykohut: Just because you aren't super serious about racing doesn't mean it isn't a career. Your mountain biking career can involve providing a media presence as well as riding, Wyn never would have been picked up by GT if he didn't provide a heap of media coverage as his result alone do not justify it. A different example is Brendan Fairclough he doesn't get the best race results but he gets huge coverage of his videos segments and rampage runs etc. Journalists/photographers also see mountain biking as a career but don't do any kind of professional riding. There are many different ways of making a career in mountain biking Wyn is aware that his career in mountain biking involves a fun entertaining social media presence as well as riding which is what he portrays, it is no less a career it is just different. The Athertons in my view should incorporate more pronation outside racing because although they are a great successful team they don't get a huge amount coverage relative to their size and success and promote the 'lifestyle' and how 'cool' their sponsors are
  • 4 1
 you want the athertons to wear orthotics? i suppose that could help with better isolation of sprinting muscles or improve a hurting MCL.
  • 2 2
 @cuban-b: now that is funny.
  • 2 1
 @Verbl-Kint: remember there is three sides to every story.
  • 36 7
 Man I am sick of this petty f*cking arguing!!!!

Of course Wyn is allowed to do daft videos, but forcing other people to participate just isn't on. He should approach people, and if they say no, he should respect that and leave it. I think he is really funny and I love his videos, but making a big deal out of people who don't want to take part, for any reason at all, is simply immature. This is only exacerbated when someone, ie Rach, is dealing with something personal and emotional. Surely anyone with basic human compassion would be like, wow they're upset, I'll leave them to deal with it in peace, instead of hassling them to take part in the video and then making a big deal of it when, surprise surprise, they decline. He has behaved poorly here and owes the Athertons an apology.

As for the Athertons, frankly they've done more for mountain biking, especially in the UK, than anyone, ever, except maybe Peaty. They've earnt the right to do whatever the hell they like. Rach is the best WC DH racer of all time and of any gender, bar none. Plus she goes out of her way to run women-only rides and events to give women confidence to get into the sport, and she sponsors an entire BDS category to add to that. She's done more for women in this sport than British Cycling, UCI, any company, and any of you. Gee has won so much and been in the top ranks for so long he has to be recognised as one of the sport's best. So what if he looks a little serious?? He does what he needs to do to get the results, and he gets better results than you so you can't judge. Plus, you trying living with the immense pressure he is under every single day - he needs to perform to the highest level, every single race, or people give him stick. Try imagine living like that - it must be a nightmare, constantly putting yourself down, constantly being judged by all of you, constantly having to answer to his sponsors. Try having some compassion - I'm amazed he hasn't had a break down yet, he shows incredible mental strength and if having a more serious persona is how he does it then good on him. Lastly, Dan is doing so much for pushing the boundaries of our sport he has to be recognised as one of modern day pioneers. He's building his own bike park for f*ck sake, just to provide something new and different.

The Athertons are the greatest DH dynasty ever. Try appreciating what they've done for the sport, and how amazing their continued achievements are, how much work and effort they put in, before you attack them.

Lastly, we all ride mountain bikes - something most of the world don't even know exists, or at least don't understand. Why are we squabbling so much??? BE HAPPY, AND GO RIDE YOUR DAMN BIKE!

 @Racer951: Whats wrong with bongs or sheds?
  • 50 19
 @Racer951: Wyn is better than Tippie and Claudio combined. I don't mind the laid back attitude during track walk/pits. But on race day you know every single one of those riders is focused and ready to rock. I don't understand why you guys have a problem with riders being normal, chill people. One reason Gee bugs the hell out of me is because he always has a stick up his ass.

 @MTBCAM: the only combo, that was even close to going primetime, was warner and page, and even then, it was when both had their 'a game' going and were not too loaded.

everything since then has been a steady decline in quality and presentability.
  • 2 2
 @MrMentallo: thats up north for you.
  • 29 15
 @MTBCAM: I'm the opposite,I find characters like josh bad for the sport. He's got loads of talent no doubt but the likes of him and others constantly dicking about,drinking all the time doesn't look good IMO. I much prefer guys like Gwin,gee minaar etc who take it seriously in both training and how they present themselves to the public. People always get on gees case but no one knows him personally and he doesn't do much media so you're all just guessing on the guys character! When anyone who's been riding 10 years or so knows gees an animal and can party hard and have as much fun as anyone. Time and place people,that's how I've been taught and believe it's the right way. As for wyn,I find him a bit of a bully actually and hearing what Rach has now said backs up my opinion. Maybe Gee will knock him out live on his show. No that would be funny.
  • 4 2
 @WAKIdesigns: well said. Totally agree.
  • 8 5
 @mikelee: It would be funny because I sort of agree with you on the bully part, but it makes for entertaining race coverage. I know Gee isn't as stand-offish as he seems, but for gods sake he can lighten up a little bit don't you think? I guess its just the free-rider in me that likes the rowdiness of Wyn and Sam. I understand guys like Peety, Minnaar, and Gwin who are always very professional on camera and off are a great example of how to be. But I believe that's mostly because of sponsorship PR shit, whereas the fest guys are busy doing shots off of a wooden plank after they ride. I guess I relate more to them than the golfer looking Minnarr and Peety. I respect your difference of opinon, and thanks for not being a dick in your disagreement like most people on here.
  • 12 13
 @mikelee: you speak truth.

but................

wyns not a bully, hes not smart enough for that.

social retard is more like it.
  • 14 2
 Yea Gee definitely has resting bitch face
  • 1 1
 @stacykohut: haha I'll accept that.
  • 14 7
 @MTBCAM: i don't think the reason the peattys and minnaars, and the gwins are classy because of sponsorship 'pr shit' as you call it.

i think its because their parents raised em right, they have respect for the racing culture and rich history of racing bikes, motorcycles etc etc..

its called class, its called being a professional racer.
  • 16 4
 @stacykohut: I respect the culture as much as everyone else, and I don't think pissing on Minnaar's bike is very professional for ANYONE to do. But that wasn't Wyn or Ratboy, that was Gee. I don't care how long ago it was. I think more than anything Wyn is simply trying to make amends and the Athertons are acting like snooty, entitled elitists. Stevie was rowdy and full of character too and was the perfect ambassador for racing, and he did it without the attitude.
  • 7 3
 @MTBCAM: Jeez man, you are living in la la land if you believe the 15 seconds you see of a dude (or dudette) doing their job defines their entire personality. Even more away with the fairys if you think Peat is a "golfer type". I'm glad you'd be universally adored in internetzland if you had a camera shoved in your face every week because I know I'd look as boring as pig sh1t like 99% of the population Smile

@WAKIdesigns: Good to hear someone else judges folk the same way Wink Smile
  • 8 7
 @BeardlessMarinRider: Dude I didn't form my opinion of Gee from 15 seconds of Wyn TV. Ive been watching him for years. He's always an ass. You can have your eye on the prize AND be a super friendly guy (Gwin).
  • 8 3
 @MTBCAM: I really don`t see them being "snooty, entitled elitists". To me they are just racers there to race, not to put on a show. We have seen a completely different side of them in "the Atherton Project" after all. They might just not want to be entertainers or public figures.
  • 4 5
 @Blablablup123: I agree, they don't. But whatever man, these are just my opinions. Everyone has an opinion. Im sure they are chill in person, but I just wanna see Gee smile once more before I die.
  • 18 6
 @MTBCAM: you can't have watched the atherton project then! That's them in real life being natural and not at work! That's right,race day is their job guys. Now getting pissed at work ain't good! Getting your cock out while a fellow pro speaks to the public ain't good either! I think lots don't like gee and Gwin because they can't relate to the dedication and commitment it takes to be that way. But getting pissed and dicking about is easy. Getting stoned and laughing at wyn tv and it's childish humour is easy. If people ask about dh or mountain biking to me I don't show them a interview with josh sluring his words or guys pissed after they're mediocre result! I'll show them gee,Greg or Gwin all day. Proper athletes,lean,serious,polite and educated in their responses. I honestly think gee was actually embarrassed to be associated with josh when he decided to pull his dick out pissed,stoned or both while he's having a conversation with normal people. Imagine if a retard like that worked with you. Surely you'd swing for the c*nt too eventually!!
  • 14 3
 @mikelee: Dry your eyes man stop taking it so serious. I dont think you realise how good EVERYONE is in the top 80 just because people dont speak clear english and have a bit of a laugh doesnt mean their not serious athletes I think your a bit blinkered to be honest. Look at Wyns results in the EWS last year. Whats a mediocre result even getting into the finals is pretty amazing considering how many people race around the world. You can still be a top athlete and have some banter. It would be pretty lame if everyone went on like a robot in fairness.
  • 2 5
 @domo-kun: top 80?

come on now........

top 30 maybe.
  • 7 0
 @stacykohut: the 80 people in the finals are pinned riders from around the globe it's not an easy task to get there.
  • 8 7
 @domo-kun: half the male field are way off the other half tbh and the women's is worse. As for them all being serious athletes you ain't got a clue! The very top guys and girls train eat and live like it's required to be and stay at the top. It's no coincidence that the likes of Greg,gee Gwin Rach mannon and before them nico peaty Anne carro Mosley were and still are at the top for so long. Talent gets you so far. They all have amazing skills no doubt but if you're less fit then the skills fade in your run and career faster than the ones who look after themselves better. I look at guys like Danny hart and think,why don't you lift some weights,get some upper body strength eat better lose the fat on your face and belly! The guys near the top and he's way out of shape! Imagine if he got the same training and attitude as gee Greg etc. He'd be next level. If you're gonna travel the world racing bikes then be in the best condition to do so! I find that strange.
  • 8 7
 @mikelee@mikelee: Totally agree with that - I am amazed at how out of shape some of the racers look. I am sure people wil blart out 'still top 20 in the world', 'they do it for fun' bla bla but it is their JOB and they are paid to ride a bike, surely looking after yourself isnt that hard when its your primary focus in life (or should be)

There is too much media coverage of the long haired bong shed visiting bunch on the circuit now that seem to take nothing seriously other than pissing about as much as possible - Thats fine but some are there to race and see how far they can take their carreer in DH. The mad thing is the group is full of enough talent to win WC overall's etc... a shame really.

I am amazed that the UCI didnt ban or fine Bryceland for getting his dick out to Gee - This is World Cup level DH guys, not a local race with your mates.

  • 13 2
 Jesus, who behaves the same at a party, at work and at home? Then how is that when camera is on on each of these occasions?! You don't meet or deal with them every day - What the hell does it matter guys? Yes masters guys arrange bong shed at a World Cup, Athertons are having post race F1 briefings, Warner tries to tip over a toilet with a woman in it, Gwin and Brosnan are super friendly, Syndicate are running a golf club, photographers get wasted with two piss-like beers, and so what? Let them all have it, I don't care when and how they wank during the world cup week. One thing is talking Boost, shock rates or fork stiffness but here we are dealing with people, directly. Thank God this intimate Clay Porter like interviewing trend is over. Transcendental bullcrap. You could take anyone fluffers included to talk about their job this way. I take Wyn TV in current form way better.

Watching race recaps and talking human values is like getting to know Tom Cruise by watching Mission Impossible. What the hell guys?
  • 4 1
 @fussylou: the caption under the picture is the brutal truth for the intrigue seekers and hero worshippers: those guys solve things like that over one beer while psycho fans fight over it like lassies over a pic of Kardashians bum
  • 1 1
 @fussylou: classy indeed
  • 1 0
 @fussylou: My point exactly. Gee is fake class.
  • 1 1
 @MTBCAM: holy shit, when did he claim to be classy or snobby?! When did he behave classy or snobby? Where do you get that idea? From watching the Atherton Project? Just because he is not like Ratboy or Wyn? Or is it you guys that WANT him to be that?
  • 1 1
 @Blablablup123: I don't WANT Gee to be anything. He can be whoever he wants. Doesn't mean I'm gonna like him. I just think its hilarious that everyone touts him as being "raised right", or "always professional", then I see the pic @fussylou posted (which I first saw a long time ago). Maybe he's reformed and that's fine, but he doesn't need a stick so far up his ass that he's basically a scarecrow. That's all Im trying to say.
  • 3 1
 @MTBCAM: you are surely a person that is loved by a few people and liked by many, you won't really make any good friends here to admire you by being a dick to someone you don't know. I dedicate this song to you today: (...) he-ey wa-it I got a new complaint, fo-orever in doubt to your priceless adv-ice (...)

Your comments will not mold Gee into a man fulfilling your standards. Oh the desparity of limited capability to influence the world. You can't do shit hahahahahaha Big Grin
  • 1 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Lol WAKI, you've seen me around, you should know that IDGAF what people think of me. Quite honestly I hate Nirvana as well. Most over rated band in history. I'm sure Gee would piss on my opinion of him just like Greg's V10. Don't really care about that either. I'm not thick enough to really think Gee Atherton is on pinkbike reading my comments about him lol. A few of these guys surely believe he is though because they sure like kissing his ass. Also, I have all the friends I need and none of them are from this site that's for sure. Nor would I ever seek out friends from pinkbike. Just like every other social media site (cause that's all pinkbike is honestly), no one can voice their opinion without taking heat. Unlike the vast majority of the sensitive twats on here, I can take that heat. I respect differences in opinion, I don't get my sense of self worth from how cunning my responses on here are like most. I know what I like and I know what I hate. If someone disagrees then great, they are entitled to that. But don't forget I am also entitled to hate in the first place.
  • 1 0
 @WAKIdesigns: I've got a better song, by Atreyu, that I dedicate to those who've thrown shade at me: It's called "Blow". Check it out.
  • 1 1
 @MTBCAM: IDGAF either, but dude, that OC 'metalcore' song is super disagreeable. Total generic Brocore. It reminds me of the dudes who used to alter the Oakley 'Thermonuclear Protection' windshield sticker (the big ones) on their K5 Blazer to say 'Thermonuclear Erection' and be all "dhhhhhhaaaa raaaaad". Haha i suck.
  • 1 1

 @mikelee: Danny Hart fat and out of shape and you say I aint got a clue. You think hes beating Gwin twice and not been fit clueless yourself. Go have yourself a cup of tea and and nice big slice of humble pie.
  • 1 0
 @domo-kun: I think you'll find I said if he got him self in shape he'd be up top with Gwin etc. So I guess you ain't following that his recent form has come about due to his new fitness regime and how he's now said its the first time he's ever had a six pack and muscle definition! So it's like I was spot on you muppet! It's almost like he read my post then changed his whole routine. No humble pie here you tool!
  • 1 0
 @mikelee: Hard to you're 38 years old you come across a bit dim. If you knew anything about him you'd know it's not just recent form he's been training hard for years look at his past results for the last few seasons they're not happening for no reason.There is f*cking plenty of profile videos showing his regime. Muppet tool haha some turkey you are.
  • 1 0
 @domo-kun: he's said directly live on camera that his form this year is due to sorting his training and diet! He's always been amazing but that New found dedication to actually training and eating well has taken him to the top! This only makes my original post completely true. That if he lost the weight and got fitter he'd be the best. He's done all I suggested,he's told everyone that's the reason he's now winning instead of just falling short! You have no argument. Are YOU a bit dim lmao

huh?

  • 1 0
 @stacykohut: Yep, that's what life is like. But other than that, things are not bad here. To be honest, I don't think a new, or a more "democratic" government can do better than the current socialism one. You have to know that there are more than 1.4 billion people in this country. Can you imagine what your life would be like if Canada were filled with so many people?

So, every place on this planet has its advantages and shortages. There are of course many problems here, but also I have many foreign friends here in China enjoying their lives. I wouldn't look down upon any other country because I understand it is never a perfect world.

 I cant work out if Wyn has actually rubbed Trek / the Athertons up the wrong way or its a bit of a tongue in cheek thing, It does look like they dont want him near them then.

I suppose you can take Wyn two ways - He adds a bit of fun / the joker to interviews etc or that he is a bit of a cabbage and only makes himself and the people he interviews look like cretins which of course is bad for the sport / rider / sponsors.

I am inbetween, we need to keep fun in DH but dont want it to look like a bong shed rejects sport either.... I will keep watching anyway, its like trash TV when you ceep coming back for more....

 Consdering GT has Sam Dale on their team with the pretty tense history between him and Atherton, I'd say there's a bit of a genuine rift between the two cliques (Athertons and the hairy wild boys).

 @MTBCAM: Ratboy flopped his tail out and waved it at Gee while he was doing an interview, Dale jumped in when Gee went to deliver the Rat some aggression......

 @apioqm: From PB July 2015.... So, the story goes, Sir Gee Atherton was conversing with bystanders somewhere at Mont Sainte Anne when Sir Josh Bryceland showed up unprovoked, dropped his trousers and began shaking his exposed flesh weapon at Sir Atherton in front of God and everybody. Words were exchanged and there was some pushing and shoving. The interaction was heated, and just when it seemed that the tussle was over, the two went after each other once more. The bystanders were in the act of separating Sir Gee and Sir Josh when out of the blue, Sir Sam Dale jumped into the fray and decided this was his moment to get a piece of the reigning World Champion. Sir Dale sucker-punched Sir Atherton a couple of times in the head while the Champ was being held back.

Medical experts say that a man's heart can only pump enough blood to keep either his brain or his privates running at full potential - but never both at the same time. Look no further for proof of that.

 Sometimes I feel like he´s taking it too far from episode to episode. I mean what kind of joke is it when you laugh about a volunteer who does not understand a word. He had a higher joke-quality in previous episodes. Get back to that standard please.

 Upon recently greeting the day, I observed many sirs taking a wander along the bicycle race route. As one could see the weather was rather drab and so I deemed it more suitable to bear wellington boots on my stroll. As for his preparation for the race I question the man who seemed to remark upon my intoxicated state (I couldn't tell what the guy said in the background but I made out "you're pissed tho aren't you")
