Pinkbike Poll: What Do You Want to See in Videos?

Oct 23, 2014 at 15:05
by Mike Levy
I recently wrote an opinion piece on how I'd love to see more riding in videos that the average mountain biker can relate to, and while I went to bed the night before it went live half expecting to wake up to a shit storm of insults in the comment section, I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of you agreed with me. Sure, there were a few snarky comments to found, and even a couple of pro freeriders who waded into the comment section to defend their vocation, but, in general, my fragile self esteem was left intact for another day. Just to be clear, I don't ever want Rampage, Crankworx, or any of the insane stuff that we see in today's movies to go away - that sort of riding will always be mind blowing.

No, I simply would like to be able to watch the best mountain bikers in the world ride trails that I could also ride (much slower then them, obviously) without having to send it off a fifty foot super booter or giant cliff. And I'm talking about the biggest names in the sport being filmed by the best filmers with the best cameras, not three minute 'web edits' that just barely whet my appetite. I don't think that's too out of line, and I also think that it makes a whole lot of sense given that it's how roughly 90+% of the world's mountain biking population rides their bike. It's easier to be inspired by something you can at least relate to in a small way, isn't it?

Yeti's video-ad for their new SB6c, filmed by Craig Grant, sums it all up perfectly for me: Jared Graves, the 2014 EWS champ, riding singletrack that we could all enjoy but at a speed that we also recognize as being somewhere between insane and ludicrous. I challenge anyone to watch the video below and not get the itch to go carve a few corners and try some half-baked natural gap on their local trails.

So, I want you to weigh-in and tell me if that's also what you'd like to see more of. Remember that I'm not saying that freeriding needs to go away - I don't want that to happen - only that I'd appreciate watching the skilled riders getting rowdy on their trail bikes. In order for that to happen, though, we'd no doubt have to sacrifice a dirt jump or cliff huck section in the name of budgets and movie run-time, which is the hiccup in my storyline. Am an idiot who's way off-base, or do I have a point?

Has anyone seen the show Drop-In? If not it is on youtube, watch a few episodes! I think that stuff is the definition of mountain biking. That show got me into riding back in 2005. None of it was over edited, the tricks/riding were something we could all relate to and the trails were not buff A-Line style that are all too common and now expected in today's riding world.

I want raw, pretty natural, epic trail riding. Not super slow-mo either. And maybe some edits with no music at all, just the bike hitting the dirt..Similar to the yeti edit above.
  • 11 1
While I don't like excessive use of slo mo,nor do I think it's appropriate for every video, I don't mind a little bit being used to show the epicness of a shot. Just imagine where the trail ends without slow mo. Also take note the video above had a decent amount of slow mo.
  • 24 1
Un-epic slow mo portions need a punishment.
  • 11 1
Well yea nobody wants to watch 2 minutes of a guy riding down a road in super slow mo.
  • 10 0
Not every edit can be Raw with minimal or no slow mo. Every edit is different, some work better than others, wether it be a more Raw still edit or an edit with more slow motion than normal - Raw doesn't mean its going to be better. Yeah theres some super dope Raw edits out there and personally I like Raw stye edits a lot, even if there's a good song, but slow mo can help an edit out even if its not a super gnarly shot, it just depends. In my opinion a variety of different film styles is far better than mostly raw style edits. If every edit was the same Raw film style people would start wanting slow-motion.
  • 17 1
I didn't see an option for slow mo gravel road climbs... I feel like this is a biased poll
  • 13 0
Kenny Smith segments are my ideal. Some Hane - via big hucks but also some straight up gnarly rock tech lines
  • 3 0
@TheMastodon and potateo, I agree with you both. When I said not super slow-mo, I just meant that I don't want it overly used and that yes, I think it can be pretty sick to capture certain things with slow-mo when it's appropriate.
  • 4 0
I agree with Gnarly Rock Tech vids. Totally unprepped Raw trails, steep lines normally intended for hikers on all fours. Like those German/Swiss alp mountain descent videos where the riders are going really slow but really extreme.
  • 5 0
I definitely agree that slow-mo is being overused. It has a time and a place. In my opinion slo-mo should only really be used for those truly epic and especially technical shots where you might miss out on the technique of the rider had the footy been shown at full speed.

Also, I do very much like the use of slo-mo in (difficult?) tricks, like off-axis backflips or even just tailwhips, as it's basically an instruction video at that point: you can learn from the pros by following their body movements, whereas you miss out on the subtleties of what the human body did to accomplish these feats when viewed at full-speed.

I'd say guys on short travel bikes ripping some loamy or techy trails they have no business being on without a 8 inches of travel ... something like this gets me the most fired up to ride my bike,

It'd be really cool if they could just go around and hit local trails, but at their speed, and show us humans how they would attack certain features, features we could relate to. to be able to see Jared Graves hopping and bouncing and taking huge hits at gnarly speeds shows me "aiight, better up my impact game" and that i'll have to become comfortable with that amount of dancing bike.

Would it not be cool to see someone, not just a freerider, but any pro/semi-pro rider have even a quick video of some of your local/reasonable driving distance away trails, and you can see their line choice, the way they'd maneuver over and around some features that you've encountered on your daily rides.

what if that helps you clean some rock rollers, get better at one turn that you've been struggling with, anything. that'd be a cool way that they could almost reach out to the community.

this is just me, who doesn't have the time or money to hit a bike park, so these DJ and bike park videos, although jaw dropping and entertaining, serve no relevance to the riding i do daily.
  • 8 0
In my opinion the thing that's missing in most bike videos would be the fun. Now don't get me wrong, I really love serious cinematography and serious riding but sometimes it just becomes too much. Too much drama, too much seriousness.
When I ride my bike I feel a sense of joy and it's great to see videos that properly reflect this. Stuff like New World Disorder comes to mind. Friends and individuals all having a great time riding is what I want to see more of. That, to me, is what the average rider can relate to without fail.
  • 7 0
EARTHED vids were the best (minus the DJ). Trust the Brits to make films that show great riding and still not take everything too seriously. Always loved their eclectic selection of music too.
  • 3 0
 As for the YETI vid:

1. Ditch the dramatic music (advertising muzac used to sell virtually anything from cars to MTB).
2. Ditch moving clouds from this and every new vid!
3. Ditch most slomo.
Just showing Jared riding that trail is great for us and YETI.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=elm71M7SJno this kinda video has potential. Good story line and cliff hanger
  • 2 1
Less talking would be good too...
we all know how "stocked" riders get when they "shred" their bikes.
we wanna se bike being ridden.
  • 2 0
Some talking about the rider, his bike, and the place he's riding is OK ! And you more RAW please !! Wink
  • 1 0
Good point epavich, when I'm riding or even crashing, most of the time I can't stop smiling or laughing.
  • 2 0
The raw atkinson and strobel vids are right on - particularly liked strobel and the pace he's carrying on the more open trail. Loved the little chuckle at the end.
  • 2 0
Best section of a vid I seen was the no music trail ride, think it was in seasons? Correct me if im wrong.

Love no music edits with bike noise and tyres and a good freehub
  • 1 1
You bet! Take note vid makers out there. No more hackneyed crap please. It's all been mentioned in this thread:
NO getting out of bed, having breakfast, driving to trail head, pulling bike out, putting gear on, meaningful staring into camera, scenic shots of snow capped mountain peaks, moving clouds, insects on plants, dumb dramatic music (music is acceptable if very low volume so bike can still be heard), and cut the slomo to an absolute minimum!
  • 3 0
+1 Earthed are still my favourite vids. Rowdy, flat out and full of feel good.
  • 2 0
+10 You got it! EARTHED vids and DIRT mag UK . There is nothing better.
  • 1 0
 What's a roost sequence without slow-mo?
  • 38 3
I miss the old videos watching people shred, not all this over dramatic slow-mo bullshit. I wanna see raw near out of control riding with the sound of dirt getting ripped apart.
  • 4 0
I think some of the super talented video guys let their art take precedence over the art of the riders. Admittedly slow-mo perfect light shots look amazing, but I want the riding to be the feature.
  • 8 0
I hate watching an edit and the first 45 seconds is slow mo shots of unloading the truck, clipping up your helmet and putting your foot on a pedal. I want to see people ride bikes.
  • 3 0
 Thank you. Exactly. THis.

Just keep watching Remy videos, and all the other Ricci videos.
  • 18 3
Yes I know I'm just a whiny bitchy trailbuilder who must be so slow and can never in my wildest imagination appreciate the mad steez of your wild riding skills from Ontario, UK, South Dakota, Flat-ass-is-stan but whatever you do can you NOT put up videos of the skidiots cuttying up trails and spraying brown pow? Thanks!!!

  • 15 1
Punk rock, minimal slow mo, no you getting out of bed, no eating breakfast, no training... JUST SHREDDING
  • 3 0
No alarm going off, no putting googles on, no pushing up the trail in slow mo, no dub step, no random pictures of bugs crawling along logs....
  • 1 0
Exactly! Glad you brought the subject up Mr. Levy.
  • 4 0
no clouds, so stars to sunrise, no water drop on fern leaf watching, no you getting your bike out of your truck, no you sitting on your bike like some dumbass and just looking at the camera for a solid 15 seconds or off into the distance. AND FOR GODS SAKE STOP WEARING GOGGLES WITH NON FULL FACE HELMETS!!!
  • 1 2
I don't know about the "wearing goggles with non full face helmets" it does have many benefits....
  • 2 1
@Hammm Curious - what are the "many" benefits of wearing goggles with non full face helmets? I can name one: protect your eyes. What else is there? A fashion statement? ;-)
  • 1 0
I would rather have a stick or rock break my goggles than go flying into my eye.... How could that be considered as a fashion statement when there is a practical reason behind wearing goggles. Having that benefit is good enough for me to wear goggles.
  • 2 0
No driving for the trailhead, no pulling the bike out of the truck, no reading a map, no putting goggles on, no spinning the crank backwards etc. All of these make me embarrassed to be a mountain biker. Take a cue from skate vids.
  • 1 0
 +1 for the skate videos.
  • 3 0
I only ride slomo, so I wear glasses not goggles.
  • 1 0
Ha ha I wear goggles over my glasses to stop blurred vision from my multi focals bouncing up and down over the jumps. Also wear full face helmet cos I canna say I like face plants!
  • 1 0
@Hammm, that's not what I asked. I already acknowledged that goggles provide eye protection, but I was wondering what the "many" (you did state many) benefits of goggles there are. If not fashion, then what else?
  • 3 0
I started wearing goggles when I was racing DH. I started because when training the course would get dusty as hell. Goggles helped by keeping your eyes from feeling like sandpaper. Now when I freeride or dh I will wear my fullface and goggles because they do offer a lot more protection than a xc helmet. Wearing a xc helmet and goggles is a fashion statement taken from Enduro racing. If you are freeriding or hitting the jumps then wear a fullface. You only have one set of adult teeth. We are mountain bikers, not hockey players.
  • 1 0
@kerplunk Okay they don't offer "many" advantages - but they over a distinct advantage that is enough for me to use then on open face helmets. you continue wearing your sunglasses. I couldn't really careless.
  • 2 0
Hammm, Really, you ride trail tech enough that you ride with goggles for protection but don't need a proper helmet? You walk the line buddy.
  • 2 0
Riding remote trails in 35-40 degrees with a full face is not ideal. So a compromise is made.
  • 1 0
To be really honest - why to you care so much?
  • 1 0
those 35-40 degree feels. we don't need rain, our sweat packs the trails nicely.
  • 1 0
@Hammm, you misinterpret my comments. I do wear goggles, but I thought you could enlighten me on the additional benefits that I may have been unaware of. :-)
  • 1 0
Do you wear them as a fashion statement?
  • 1 0
@ Hammm, but of course! Got the cool mirrored Oakley's to go with my steeze Troy Lee D3. They rock together. But more importantly, they do protect the peepers. And you?
  • 1 0
I wear them because the chicks dig it.
  • 1 0
 @Hammm dream on brother.
  • 3 0
don't we all wish chicks would dig mountain biking?
  • 9 1
I'm biased but I like all the free ride stuff on big bikes.
I pretty much buy every descent mtb DVD as soon as it comes out and of recent times I have found my self skipping all the dirt jump stuff.
I like slope style but in my opinion it's all about the big bike stuff, I also skip all the enduro stuff.
Fingers crossed for a where the trail ends part 2 Smile
  • 6 1
Loam, ladders, skinnies, steep mossy rocks, mostly always work. dirt jumps are okay, but they only work when being filled from a cable cam, from above, or if they are in a damp wooded environment. Bearclaw's roam segment was still better than any high end 3 minute movie you see today despite the fact that there are more technical tricks being thrown.
  • 6 1
Right on. More actual "freeriding" - not slopestyle dirt jump stuff. No disrepsect to the jumpers or fmb riders, but the big mountain stuff, or like the Claw's segment in ROAM...

Would like to see a movie that really sets freeriding apart from slopestyle, definitively.
  • 1 0
Claw's segment in ROAM was on of the first mountain bike videos that I ever saw and it has inspired me ever since just because of its sheer stoke and 'simple but effective' filming.
  • 5 0
I just want to be amazed by a video that has something to do with mountainbiking. It could be the riding, the scenery, the lesson/message in it, the originality, the humor, the craftsmanship of the video maker, boobs, trail dogs, whatever. What the PB audience wants to see more of is a moving target throughout the years. There is one certainty: Too much of the same and we'll get bored quickly (with the exeption of girl related vids).
  • 7 0
I'd like to see people stop complaining when the video isn't exactly what they want.
  • 2 0
It'd just be nice to see people stop complaining in general!
  • 4 0
Show me some technical gnar where the penalty is high for failure. I'm talking do or die. Pro's shredding a xcountry trail on a 6 inch travel bike really doesn't do it for me, neither does the slomo berm destroy wannabes. I want fall off stay on your toes you snooze you lose all mountain trail riding. Lol.
  • 5 0
I want more super slow mo footage of people's heels as they push up a hill. More slow motion spinning of pedals, more slow mo putting on goggles and loads more slow mo post ride hi fives.
  • 4 1
OK yes more trail riding and less BMX, I mean dirt jumping

But,

MORE DH RACING VIDEOS IN THE SPIRIT OF THE EARTHED SERIES.

And,

LESS SHIT MUSIC AND DRAMATIC COMMENTARY(LOOKING AT YOU CURTIS KEEN SERIES) AND MORE SOUNDS OF MAXXIS TIRES ROLLING THROUGH THE GNAR.

Also,

ANYTHING WITH KOVARIK and HILL and RAT BOY
  • 4 1
Levy, you're by far the best writer/reviewer on Pinkbike but that Jared Graves video is just awful. It's everything that's wrong with modern mtn bike videos in my humble opinion. They managed to make one of the fastest riders in the world look boring and they managed to make a fun sport look like some weird road biking sufferfest. People need to watch "This is Peaty" and start taking notes.
  • 2 0
What I like in bike videos is watching action from perspectives I can only imagine in real life. This would be cameras pointing at suspension and stuff, back mirror views, a must-like-it of a drone setting a scenery or flying over some riders in action. It is nice and useful to watch a trail from riders eye perspective just before using a trail. Personally I skip dirt sections, as well as silly and too long interviews. I appreciate weather, slope, location and all the practical data, which is very rarely provided. Dogs chasing bikes frighten me. Creative edits deserve admiration, like for example the last Ludo May's video. Sense of humour is what distinguishes bike videos from other.
  • 2 0
Poll is a little poorly worded. DJ and Freeride are different disciplines, albeit with some cross over. DJ edits are a dime a dozen it seems. Solid "freeride"( one off big hits, sketchy lines etc.) not so much in my opinion. Could use a little editing.
  • 2 0
Variety is the spice of life, just turn down the dirt jump stuff, don't have to get rid of it completely, just played out right now.
I personally prefer the trail riding and downhill shredding and the freeride/slopestyle stuff is fun to watch.
  • 2 0
Two (or more) different riders on the same track/trail/spot/race, same time:
Bulldog/blenki, Rachel/Semenuk, Vanderham/brendog, Voreis/Gracia/Bruni, Simmons/Rheeder, Warner/Palmer, Barel/Lacondeguy, Coastalcrew/Fro Riders......

Note: "track/trail/spot/race" choice is absolutely vital: Warner/Palmer at Rampage sucks, but on a Bigwheel tricycle race...
  • 4 2
 No slow mo
No carving brown pow
No loam
Unless
The rider is riding something new, unride'a'ble. Super tech not a previously built trail
Unless
The rider has a VERY unique steeze

A good trail noise to music level
Metal obviously...... Maybe some old school hip hop?
Any techno dub Step warpy warpy shit or terrible rap gets turned straight off
  • 2 0
Anybody remembers the "Earthed" movies from the WC circuit? They were pretty damn cool. Lots of flat out racing, almost no slow mo and just fun to watch. I still watch them today and i find them very entertaining. Lots of movies and web edits has become a little too arty-farty these days in my opinion.
  • 3 0
I love you for bringing this up!!!! its all I want! I got my trainer in my room this winter and all I want is some plain and simple trail riding vids I can watch while I pedal my bike like a madman
  • 1 0
Haha you and me both. I park the bike in front of the TV and imagine I'm awesome
  • 2 0
less bike park, more single track, less product shots, more talent, less slow mo, more normal speed, no skidding on berms (it has been doen to death), no enduro.. period. unless its someone pushing a bike to its almost breaking point.

just show biking. i could give a shit about the camera guys talent, or the editors talent. i want to se landscape, beautiful features and someone who looks like they are out for a great day out that is oozing talent... you can tell on a lot of these when they are having to get going becuase the camera man seen a berm that needed to be destroyed...
  • 1 0
Really enjoy watching all types of riding. I do like seeing mainstream trail ripping though as I can relate to that. That being said I love watching guys like Seminuk and Rheeder killing it on the massive dirt jumps and slope style courses. Keep it all and keep everyone happy.
  • 1 0
I just wanna see riders having fun on their bikes! The best videos in my opinion are the ones that don't feel staged or overworked, but rather just show guys shredding on their bikes and enjoying the heck out of it. If that means hucking off a huge cliff sweet, but if they like destroying the local trails are breakneck speeds I'm cool with that too.
  • 2 0
Moar people deliberately sliding their back wheel around in a manner that has nothing to do with turning or going fast, just this dumb idea that it looks cool. Over and over again.

More stuff like NWD but shorter
  • 1 0
hate me if you want, but I really liked bender's sections
  • 1 0
I´m with you, I loved it, and want back huck sections, tricks are nice but huck to flat is better :-)
  • 3 0
I really like to see a variety. Heck, Pinkbike posts enough videos that if there's one you don't want to see, you still have plenty others to watch. Why get rid of anything?
  • 5 1
I want it all! Trail, DH, Slopestyle, DJ... Just NO MORE SLOW-MOTION... Holy crap that's annoying.
  • 1 0
Also, I love a good DH racing segment!
  • 1 0
Slow mo is for dh segment: this people's brain are too quick for us, we need slow mo to understand wha's happening.
  • 3 0
Speed, style, crashes, jumps, metal, gnar, explosions, flips, whips, loam, beer, steeze, girls, drops, scrubs, pubs, nugs, and dubz.....did I miss anything?

  • 2 0

  • 1 0
We all enjoy different riding styles and we are all at different levels so sure you might enjoy some trail riding but the next guy will love the djs and tricks, there is a good variety of videos right now and I think it will stay the same.
  • 1 0
Movies of Begginer riders riding XC and Trail pleases. Keep it real simple, as low budget as possible. Actually, you should just ban any good cameras and only use GoPro's, ban editing all together. If it's new and crazy, skip that too. Girls riding in sexy clothing, NO WAY... I love slow motion ads of the bike going by too, I hate when there's no commercials. Ha!
  • 2 0
It is kind of disturbing to me to see everyone wanting more trail riding. I thought Pinkbike was the home to the freeriding and DJ communities. Are we turning into a bunch of old washed up trail riders?
  • 1 0
What I wanna see is guys riding on the absolute edge of their ability. Not whistler locals smashing easy trails on massive bikes. People flying into turns and only just making it out the other end alive, barreling into features (both airs and rocks and everything in between) hanging on for dear life and followed by some buds all doing the same thing.
Freeride is impressive no doubt but it's not what most of us relate to. Or is it?
  • 1 0
My favorites are big natural mountain lines, like what you saw in "Where the trail ends". But, that said, I love watching talented riders shred regular trails at mach 10, but not in slow-mo. Save the slow-mo for the odd tree bonk!
  • 1 0
I have personally collected sixty of my all-time favorite videos and will sometimes watch / listen to them in random order while getting ready for my ride, or even while working on some other project. What I find in common with almost all of them is that they do not interrupt the action or music with random interviews, comments or other distracting elements. Short intros and quick exits are my favorites as well.
  • 1 0
No more slow mo and dub step! In my opinion I prefer seeing people rip hard and fast, I like to see what kind or speed these pros can get. Seeing everything in slow mo is like a condom to me, can't really get the same feeling.
  • 1 0
I think we need to go back to burly big bike stunts not this enduro garbage of someone riding a green trail just skidding between pedals... Less dumbed down bike park trails. More Dirt jumps, just real dirt jumps not a wooden mulch jump behind dads shed. People need to start going out into the middle of nowhere and building something f*cked, not just a strait line of dirt trail to ride while dressed like a tampon. 80% of riders may be boring.. but thats why there's not videos of 80% of riders. Don't get me wrong, all mtn riding is fun to do, but so is drinking a cup of hot chocolate I don't need to film myself doing it just because Its nice
  • 4 1
Shameless plug. This is what the people want. And Team Furbee provides.

m.pinkbike.com/video/384030
  • 1 0
 Yes.
  • 9 5
METAL SONGS FOR ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
Its just about a blend of a good landscape an awesome trail (doesn't matter if its dirt jump or whatever) some good film editing and good music.... that is what makes a perfect video
  • 2 0
I would really like to see more epic adventure rides, where there is some good, technical riding but with a focus on travelling and exploring.
  • 4 0
 More films like The Collective!
  • 4 0
I care less about the type of riding than the BS-to-riding ratio.
  • 5 5
So basically you are asking pro riders to ride dumbed down trails so mediocre riders feel good about themselves. This goes against everything I know about mountain biking. More mainstream it goes the less it becomes about progressing the support and more about pleasing the consumer/average Joe. We need the free ride and dirt jump A. Cuz it's rad and B. Cuz it inspires people. Just cuz you don't get inspired by it doesn't mean others dont.
  • 1 0
Trail riding is fun, and it will give you a good workout, but it has no place in movies. In terms of watching it, it's nothing more than a way less gnarly and way less fun to watch version of downhill.
  • 5 0
 NO FUCKING SLOW MO!!!
  • 1 0
Behind the scenes documentRy style clips with interviews of the background of the events skimming over the mechanics of how the event came about. Plus more interviews with the riders, team managers and mechanics.
  • 1 0
Less lifestyle crap would be nice, for example do really need to see the rider waking up, eating breakfast, packing their truck etc? Just cut straight to the money shots please.
  • 4 0
 More review bazooka… please?
  • 1 0
Less goggles. We all know how to put them on. Less Dubstep. that shit gets old Less dirt jumping. As much as I like it I would prefer some bomber ass downhill trail riding.
  • 2 0
Let's see more rough technical riding. Im talking real rock gardens and rutted speed sections. too much buffed out trails in vids these days.
  • 1 0
I was skeptical at first, but after watching this video I am stoked on riding and can't wait to hit the local xc trails. However...I still want my vids to be predominantly freeriding!
  • 5 0
 How about more boobies?
  • 2 0
Dirt jump segments are boring and nearly all the same. One per video is plenty! However, I do like seeing big air and stunts in the middle of trails.
  • 1 0
Generally, I would agree with the poll about the dirt jumping. But i gotta say the Aptos segment in strength in numbers is one of my all time favorites. It gets me pumped, I watch it all the time

No more crap dubstep or house or jungle dance rubbish, or whatever its called. The kind of music that made Arrival unwatchable, just as an example. Think NWD, think Kranked... I want you to rock my world again!

 @Pinkbike

The how-to videos are great. Why not make a HOW-TO tab and have videos with everything from changing a tire to how to whip.

Bonus points for getting pros and big bike names to do the videos.

It needs some explosions. And a bad guy. Maybe Bruce Willis too. Basically Die Hard but with mountain bikes in it.

With a sexy (in a beleaguered sort of way) bike-shop mechanic played by Pamela Anderson or Helena Bonham Carter. Ideally she would have a prosthetic leg, stemming from her tour in Iraq - just to give it an extra edge.
  • 2 0
Hell that made me chuckle.... prosthetic leg = GENIUS!
  • 1 0
Less dirt jumps to crap dubstep/electro music (boring, seen most of it before) and more awesome and inspiring landscapes/scenery and trail riding. Although a proper balls out freeride/DH edit never goes amiss.
  • 1 1
 More Matt Macduff reviews!

Real component reviews, do stress tests, crash the stuff.

More how to videos, unlike the guy that has the "how to DH" videos riding a hard tail bike doing bunny hops. LAME!

More POV of the guys racing EWS during the races.

More interview videos with the pro DH and EWS riders - ESPECIALLY THE WOMEN.

More anything with women riders.

Tippie should do the How To / what to avoid when riding / what to look out for (positives and negatives) when riding videos - if he has the patience for it. ;-) with guest starring pro riders giving input.

what happened to Cam Zinks occasional articles? Havent seen one yet since he got sponsored by PB.

More sponsor interaction with the rest of us, have contests with prize give aways, this stuff is expensive. They can afford it

YOU CAN'T BUNCH A WHOLE SPORT TOGETHER. YOU NEED DJ MOVIES AND YOU NEED DOWNHILL MOVIES, SEPARATE! Pinkbike just happens to be the biggest website for mountain biking. Websites like the come up got it down. I myself like freeride only, the other stuff is fun to ride here and there but boring as hell to watch. Would be nice to see more freeride movies and a site directly for it, so I don't have to sort through crap.

Hucks to flat, skinnies (not jeans), and Emily Batty.
  • 2 0
How about no 2 minutes of scenery and background shots. Nobody cares that you went to film school.
  • 1 0
Bit of everything never hurt no-one... everything gets boring when it's too repetitive-bit of mix is more interesting. But also more racing videos please!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
Need more fast flowy videos shot with helicopter like this one

People want to see LESS dirt jumping??? Wrong wrong wrong... maybe we should start putting some road cycling segments in edits then!!! What's happening to the world
  • 1 0
Honestly just as long as it has mountain bicycles in it, I pretty much love watching and riding it all. Even if my DJ skills are well bellow sub par Big Grin
  • 3 0
 Steeze, dope tricks, speed, rock/metal.
  • 3 0
 More Silva and Yeti movies!
  • 5 5
The only good Jump vids are BMX. Especially urban, they do 15 footers to flat, hit pedestrians, almost get hit by traffic, all with no suspension, no brakes and not even a helmet!
  • 2 0
For all those people who want "raw" videos there is hundreds probably even thousands of gopro videos for you Wink
  • 4 0

 More office space references

The song or lack of usually makes or breaks a good edit for me. Gotta have that song combined with riding that gives shivers
  • 1 0
 Yep! I'm there with you.
  • 1 0
It's all good. Just leave out the arty bollocks or shots of the rider sitting on his bike staring in to the distance. And no music.
  • 1 0
Isn't the purpose of the videos to sell gear? I'm sure sponsors would put money in more 'regular' mountainbiking if that worked better.
  • 3 0
 Travel & backcountry adventures
  • 1 0
Dirt jumping and freeriding are different things so the poll is kinda wonky . Definitely more full speed . 30 minutes of slo-mo in a 45 min film is a bit much lol
  • 1 0
Been asking for this since the collective came out. That flick was a game changer. And pear no more slow motion. The trek movie not bad has way too much and it's nauseating.
  • 1 0
Since we're all throwin' a coin in the fountain I wish for a new series of STUND. Or something very similar. Make it happen CANADA!! Smile Smile
