You make a great energy drink. Your brand is a leader in sports entertainment. All other simular companies are trying to catch up to YOU. We all love what you do! BUT YOU HAVE THE WORST #$&@)_# PLAYER EVER! It freezes, it skips, it changes quality. I can stream Vimeo, YouYube and embedded clips all day on 1080 with no issues. FIX FIX FIX
damn, not a big fan of Aaron, not at all... but for riding such a stiff suspension so freaking fast....damn he has some mad skills...he could ride with a fix fork and still be the fastest guy...to all you world cup riders watch and learn, and step up your games, so downhill doesn't becomes so predictable!
Honestly, I've never had any problems with the Redbull video player. However, their livestreams leave something to be desired....like a video of the event....
It's strange, i have a terrible internet connection yet redbull media player ALWAYS works fine for me. Maybe you should all think about downgrading your isp package just so you can hear Gwin tell you how good he is.
but anyway yeah, such a sick video!
I agree with the quality issue, but maybe this vid is just the teaser for something bigger , becase for me it is strange that Gwin had not have all the over exposer that I expect for an "american hero"
I'm actually glad he wasn't his too humble self at the end, and admitted he's the guy to beat. He also didn't say it in a cocky way. It shows he's proud of where he's at and the hard work he's put in. I just liked him admitting it and he isn't even in my top 5 favourite riders so I'm not being biased.
There's just no denying he's on that little higher level to everybody else. Mentally, physically and his skill.
He also looks sick on a demo.
I agree. its one thing to be mediocre and claim you are the best... but in reality he IS the best. maybe he doesn't have the best style on a bike, i give that to Lacondeguy (my own simple opinion), or maybe he doesn't have the most fans, not sure who does... but dammit if he isn't a damn miracle on a downhill course.
I would love to see someone beat him, not because I don't like Gwin, but because that would be one crazy season to watch!
yeah, what's the point of trying your best to be the fastest in the world if you can't even acknowledge it yourself when you are? and he did it without being arrogant
You absolutely right Downhill340. His delivery was not cocky and boy does Aaron have Talent. To get where he is takes many years and a lot of hard work. Definitely he's going to be the guy to beat. It's a very interesting time for DH. So many amazing Talent's and only hundredth's of a second to set them apart.
If you wanna know who has the most fans it's quite easy. Go to Facebook and check the fan page of any downhiller, freerider, slopestyler or what have you and look at the number of "likes". Here's a small sampling: Gee Atherton - 55k, Danny Hart - 38k, Martin Söderström - 34k, Cam Zink - 19k, Cam McCaul - only 13k and I love McCaul he's such a cool character! But the winner is... CG with 169k!! (I love CG too , who doesn't?) Only one to come close and only other I could find with over 100k is Sam Hill with 141k.
Exactly what I was thinking when he sent that double super huge and basically landed on the takeoff of the next double. It amazes me how fast World Cup downhillers are
He actually quads the jump jumps both doubles. Its my local trail.. Its an 8 mile trail the descends 6000' a whole lot of people built this trail over a few years. Place is crazier and steeper then the video makes it look
That guy is so bloody perfect in everything he does that it is actually painful to watch... he's so perfect that he looks slow. He's just too damn good. And he pops the bike up so damn high out off anything. He's so fast that he can launch 10ft from a stone of a size of an inch. Then he can squash a freaking bulldozer sized boulder. That set of jumps to flat would kill 99% of people, for a regular person bottoming to flat just in front of another lip means one thing: over the bars straight to the hospital with a serious concussion, shoulder displacement and broken collar bone at its best. That bugger gets back to balance in a milisecond after a f*cking 30ft flight to flat, just to launch another one.
I feel that the progression in excellence of riding on a mountain bike is simply over. I feel so sad now. I feel like I will never see a more perfect riding. Damn you Aaron!
It was mind-blowing watching him (and several other WC racers) do things on our local race course that even our local pros probably never even considered...and made it look easy, no less. Different level altogether.
i must be in the lucky few that finds the RedBull video player really good... for me plays straight away, always on HQ, never buffers or stops loading for no reason... problems i have with YT and PB players.. (on 30meg here btw so plenty of bandwidth..)
I completely disagree with everyone who says gwin was being cocky. End of the day if u cant get to the top and be proud of what you've achieved then you might as well go home. Someones got to be the best and being top dog is why people compete. Fair play gwin, you smash it over and over and deserve to be proud
Sav, "the best" is a pretty arbitrary term in the bike world. I think we all know what he was talking about. Right now, He can, safely, lay claim to being the best at what he does on a bike. Maybe it will light a fire under some hungry wc racers
One of the best videos for DH, So Far... I love the way they show the real speed, and how aggressive it GWin could look like. Awesome video, pumped all of the adrenaline in my veins.
MAN! ..cant beat Gwin when he´s in mode. hey, guys @ Specialized, just give him his signature bike, now. call it the 'ALIEN'!!? i´d buy, if i´d have the 10k to get one.. redbull, thank you, too, for makin me see this.
Incredible skill, one of the most entertaining vids of all time!!!....every interview I've seen he has been a gentleman and humble, his/or his sponsor's statement "..best in the world"..not stated in cocky way at all..best of luck to him this season.
Fuck humble. This is sport and the stakes are rising. Hes used the best trainers, hes had the BMX and MX background. Its time to bring in the psychology and the good old psych out. Let the season begin.
Agree! Nothing he said was ostentatious, and it certainly is backed up by the stats. He carries the title, plain and simple. Just like the world champ carries the title. I'm also sure that was in response to a specific question that was edited into that video. I wouldn't be surprised if he was annoyed that it's in there.
Have you noticed how ALL the guys who ride a Demo, almost all the time, land on the back wheel, bottoming the rear travel? I've noticed this for the past 4-5 years or so... weird.
I just got home from riding and now I want to go back out and ride some more...right now! The way he interprets a trail tied with the control he has over his bike is a sight to behold. Definitely going to be an interesting season with lots of the young-guns looking primed and the normal big names hungrier than ever to try and knock Gwin off the top of the mountain.
He has every right to say he's the fastest racer in the world at this point in time...he's been just that over the last two seasons. He's only won 8 or 9 WCs and the last 2 WC Overall titles. I find it refreshing that he acknowledges this and respect how he also realizes that it's not a given - and that he is proud of what he has achieved thus far. Wouldn't you if you were in his shoes? I know I would.
My name is Aaron Gwin, I am the fastest...
As tracks get easier and wider, Gwin may be the fastest, if they get rougher, more technical and steeper again that dominance may not be the same.
Is Gwin the man to beat in 2013, or is it Smith, or Hart now he seems to be over his injury.
Gwin knows he has it all to do on the new bike, has he left a faster machine behind.... oooooo it is going to be exciting.
If pedalling was not the differentiator on many tracks there is no denying Danny is possibly the fastest, shame he has no horse power.
there are so many good riders like Blenkinsop, Fairclough etc too that were top contenders a couple of years back, that are going to be gunning for that win. Talent pool for DH is just so deeeeep.
How the heck is Clay Porter getting these pans? Is there a prodigy behind the controls of the quadrotor? Guessing there's a team, since one can't be on a DSLR with telephoto lens on the ground for the close-ups, without being actually close-up, all the while getting aerial shots, and be able to get the shots in a span short enough to have consistent daylight conditions.
always great to watch a some that's great at their sport and this man is .this is going to inspire someone somewhere to be better .also how much would you sacrifice to be this great ?
Ive seen better compression in a spinal injury.... Why does the video have to be 1 pixel for the whole screen.. Im gonna put a brick on my desk and watch that instead,
This is not hellrazor its pro x and please keep location on the low. PM someone and ask if you really wanna know location. Last thing we need is for another badass trail to get a lot of hype and be shutdown because its posted all over a forum. This is not a "legal" trail and we are limited on good trails because of the man...
Interesting to see he's moved to Avid brakes after his Shimano failure which could have cost him his chance at winning champs. Wonder if it was his choice or part of the Specialized deal?
like the old saying goes, you will never beat a local on his own track. yes that's fast and I like Gwin but if you watch G or Steve smith on their locals i bet they look just as fast, lets hold comment till WC as I have to say I think he will regret jumping ship. I had a demo and bloody hated it. to low and slow in the peddle, I got a fury now and it wipes the floor with my demo everyday of the week.
This edit is not about Gee or Steve, I don't care what brand Gwin rides for he's crazy fast, so don't get it twisted. He's won the world cup title 2 years in a row. All of the elite riders want to beat him, so he's the man to beat! And Gee and Steve are crazy fast as well.
@LindLTaylor, LOL very true nice comment @drs140t, ? don't get it twisted? huh? no it's not about Gee or steve i'm just saying they look just as quick on their own turf just like i'm sure so would most. as for all the Elite riders I don't think they care who to beat they want to beat everyone not just Gwin that's the sport. but as i first stated i like Gwin and hope he does well this year.
Am I the only one who can watch this in wide screen and HD and it looks awesome? ...Living in a 100 year old house with damn old cables? Sorry guys you gotta hate me now
At 1:09, Aaron is obviously having mechanical failure...... His rear wheel is locked up. I know that man doesn't use his brakes. Just glad he got his issue sorted out quickly.
Was he dropping bombs on the way down, all i could hear was BOOOOMMMMM after BOOOM after BOOOM hahah, cazy sick fast riding, trail and skills, nuts!!!!
It's not cocky to look at the numbers and say you're the best. It's cocky to look at the numbers and discount others work based on your own work. If he were to say "man, no one can touch me!" I'd be super annoyed by him, but he admits he is going to need to work hard to keep that title.
If you listen to what hes says hes being very specific in his meaning of best rider in the world , based on results in the races that actually matter , the world cup.
But I do agree that it sounds kinda arrogant when you say it about your self , kinda like boxers do in pre-match hype.
I guarentee he was prodded by his sponsors to make a claim like that. A guy like gwin i really think could care less about comparison of himself to others. Technically speaking he is the best rider on the planet tho.... So he should take pride in that, but i dont really think he cares all that much
Michael Jordan confidently says he is the best. Albeit Gwin has to win a few more years to get to Jordan status. Nothing wrong with saying what he said. If you listen to the way he says it, it seems in response to a direct question to the effect of "Are you the best DH rider right now?". What was he supposed to say? For all we know they edited out the first cut where he said, "I wouldn't say I'm the best per say. I just ride to the best of my abilities and trust in God."
I wonder how long it took to hike to the top of that! A truck hides behind some bushes in the opening scene I think. He was going crazy fast for so long.
what is it with all these WHOOOOOSH sounds in videos now? so goddamn annoying. just give me trail sounds, i don't want it to sound like i'm underwater or something
I think he's still humble. Being humble means not thinking your above everyone else for whatever reason. If he's asked whether he thinks he's the best in the world and it seems clear that for now he is, why not say it? he managed not to sound arrogant whilst saying he was the best in the world because he has humility.
I think people give equipment too much credit. All world cup level equipment is pretty darn good. Riders peak physically for 4-6 years. Simple as that. Another reason why Peaty competing on world stage so long is amazing.
I simply stated he has dominated on a session(fact). Dominating on a demo has yet to be proven(fact). Thus, stating he is still worlds best now, when the race season hasnt even started is a little soon to be staking that claim(my opinion). Dont get me wrong, I think hes simply amazing on anything with wheels but that was a bold statement considering the circumstances.
When he does Redbull Rampage then he can call himself the best rider till then Stevie Smith and Gee Atherton are my favorites. I'd put my money on Steve Smith this year. Fast rider good attitude. Gwin is fun to watch though.
We'll see next week how Gwins new ride holds up at Plattekill- the mountain that eats people alive. I rode the corse all last weekend and its aiight I guess. It goes thru dabomb, one of our oldie but good and steep trails. Couple medium drops. I would have sent the pros into that huge 30 foot rock drop, would have been interesting. I hit it on skis once but never seen a bike go off that thing. Soo much wicked terrain up there, they better come up early and walk track a couple dozen times. This a straight bomb to the bottom so times going to be fast.
Ya come to plattekill and see it before you hate. I see alot of wc tracks looking like fireroads wide open predictable. Platt is wild, reach out and grab you. Nuff WC pros been helicoptered out of platt, ya I was there for that lol, and I warm up on that section where he bit it not naming any names see I have respect. I blazed the whole corse all weekend again this week. Its a bomber run with couple mid sized drops and one dinger that pros were there all weekend like duhhuhh?? Meanwhile we just rolling right off land like nothing happened. Takes many years to master platty. I been all over and saw many WC tracks. Some were decent and other laughable to me. Platt is all gnar every direction top to bottom enjoy. I be there allllll week next week for this flamboiyant race so if you need any tips hit me up. That drop going to claim more than a few.
It looks far less active?? I don't think you can state a frame is less active by the looks of it. I'll definitely say they are as active as it gets! Both of them are beasts ridden by the fastest guys in the world. I definitely have respect for the Demo Chassis! Props to Gwin for the speed, he's pinning it!! SICK!
I just hope the Curse of Clay doesn't swallow Gwin. It seems like when he gets his hooks in to a rider their careers kind of implode.
Please see Matti, Sam, Gee and Dan for examples.
It's comfortable but just doesn't feel right unless you pin it so you have to go fast. Also all the strength training done means you can work better on a stiffer setup.
You are the best, for now. Team Syndicate knock this guy down a couple rungs. GWINing rubs me he wrong way. Good luck to Gee, Danny, Steve, Greg and the rest of the UCI feild... Aaron is fast, bring your AGame and keep him off the podium.
Keep in mind, Aaron didn't start the "gwinning" thing. The media and us as fans did. He is the fastest. However, all those guys you named plus some can win at an given moment. The World Cup DH field is STACKED deeper than I have ever seen it and I have been racing DH since the mid 90's.
I own a Specialized DEMO 1 !
Its a STRONG FRAME but the GEO SUCKS badly , Gwin wont be able to win because of the Frameset he s racing on !
I used to have a 2009 sessh and even though it was way shorter the EVO links is so much better then the F S R . The Demo give s me so much feedback in my feeet and if I dont do heavy work with my feeet then I feel like I could loose control .
cant wait to sell the Demo !

I feel that the progression in excellence of riding on a mountain bike is simply over. I feel so sad now. I feel like I will never see a more perfect riding. Damn you Aaron!
For me best rider is the fastest rider, nuff said.
SICK riding though, controlled recklessness (if that's a word)!
That being said. I want to see Gwinn do Rampage.
He has every right to say he's the fastest racer in the world at this point in time...he's been just that over the last two seasons. He's only won 8 or 9 WCs and the last 2 WC Overall titles. Let's get the WC season started, already!!!!
Oh and... holy sh!t is Gwin unbelievably fast.
For those saying he doesn't have style, well speed is style in itself. So pedal dammit.
What was the video about anyone?

Also... "Murica!
if it's the "truth" why feel the need to shout it out? its pretty unprofessional to say you are the best at anything. I wonder if Nico ever said that?
If he's asked whether he thinks he's the best in the world and it seems clear that for now he is, why not say it? he managed not to sound arrogant whilst saying he was the best in the world because he has humility.
get outta here with your negative crap dude. Gwin 2013. 'Murica.
