#4....Come on...I don't want to hate but did anyone explain physics to this guy? It looked like he expected the bike to just do all the work for him. I guess that's what happens when you read to many online reviews before you buy the bike, you end up believing in them too much clearly! Or maybe he was doing a wheel size rollover demonstration....

  • 103 3
Buying all the hi-tec enduro sh*t didn't make him a good biker Smile
  • 91 1
Looks like his front wheel found a mini black hole of infinite gravity and got sucked right into it. Or he just sucked.
  • 18 3
#4 I would love to hear the thought process on that one.

Having said that #5 isn't much better, another one imo who seems to be expecting the bike to do the work for him.
  • 6 0
poster boy for "oh look, a penny!" ...slap them training wheels back on!
  • 65 0
I've watched it a few times now and I still don't understand how he got it so wrong, looks physically impossible to get the front down into that gap
  • 42 0
Literally made my week #4, his committed right up to the point his helmet touches the ground!
  • 38 4
This is NOT a fail. Guy just can't ride.
  • 8 2
It looks like he's pushing down on his bars just before the drop. Maybe heavy hands and he just pushes the front right down? Either that or someone replaced his tubeless slime with cement for a laugh and it weighed the front end right down.
  • 17 4
I know exactly what he did wrong. 1. Look at his opened mounth and his scared face, more scare more risk. 2. He was not prepared for the landing he probably looked at his front tire or drop edge not the landing 3. By droping he did absolutely nothing, he just let the bike fall down. Totall noob. Sry for my english

Yes also those drop zone marking stones tells hes beginner
  • 54 0
That's the problem with 26" wheels that market guys say... if they have some big whelle, like 36", maybe 50", nothing will happens.... LOL!!!
  • 38 2
I'm new to mountain bicycling. Is it some kind of a frontflip?
  • 24 0
I don't know what I did wrong...I got the sweet bike, sweet pack, sweet pads, sweet shoes. You forgot sweet skills bro.
  • 25 1
It looks to me like the rider's butt caught the rear tire at the moment the front tire had just left the edge of the drop... which immediately reduced the forward momentum.
  • 5 0
Haha it looks like someone told him: "just throw your weight back and let the bike work for you... oh... and build a rock gate so you know where to go"
  • 2 13
flag djm35 (Feb 27, 2015 at 4:50) (Below Threshold)
yeah he is clearly a novice, why else would they have filmed that wimpy drop? Its that or it was staged.
  • 46 6
Yea the #4 looked like a stereotypical 29er riding...
  • 5 1
@Oinkideas Ha! well spotted, looks like sits on his seat stopping the bike dead lol
  • 14 3
#4 Maybe he was all Smoked up. It is Colorado duuuuuu! Score 420.
  • 7 4
Step one, don't clip in. Step two, no slowing down at the lip. Step three, learn how to hit a drop. Step four, Never land on your face.
  • 3 1
here's to getting bouldered in boulder!!!! for the win!!!!
  • 8 1
#4 he will be braging about that time he almost died on this huge drop, enduro brah! - sh*t enduro bikers say
  • 2 1
Didn't anyone notice the #1 and #5 are the same "do-nothing" theme ?
Of course front end goes down.
  • 4 0
Oinkideas just solved the puzzle, I laughed even harder when I saw him butt-breaking haha
  • 2 0
This time big wheels didn't make the trick, 1,5" less could save his face... and butt haha!
  • 6 0
#4, when i said transfer your weight back, I did not mean sit on the rear wheel!
  • 8 2
and thats why #4 should win, dude needs props for trying. I 3 noobs! (maybe cause I'm pretty bad biker myself Wink )
  • 5 0
#4 is definitely at Curt Gowdy in WY.
  • 7 13
flag hardyk FL (Feb 27, 2015 at 6:57) (Below Threshold)
pretty sure #4 is a woman
  • 2 0
Great eye! Why would you put your weight that far back on a drop?! Now i have to go see if i can even do that on my 650b lol. I'd still give it to #3 though just for totalling his bike.
  • 1 0
Nice to see some XC fails with #4!
  • 1 0
I guess you really do un-clip when you wreck! Thanks Pinkbike Smile
  • 31 3
There is a lot of haters... The dude is riding and he is probably new to the sport. Good on him for getting out and riding. If money wasn't a limiting factor when we started riding we all would have started on the nicest sh!t too!
  • 2 1
@Oinkideas still doesn't answer the tech skill issue though. When going off a ledge, you don't have the same posture as when bombing a downhill. He looked ready to start bombing. That WHOLE event was set up wrong.
  • 3 0
it may have been, but without his butt hitting the tire there is no way it could have gone that wrong. He had enough speed to at least clear the gap with his front wheel.
  • 4 2
The shop told him 29er can roll over gaps, but you'll need some elbow pads too.
  • 6 0
@chrisingrassia I do not feel it is my place to address a fellow rider's technical skill, so I didn't. Cause/ Effect... If butt stops rear wheel/ Then fall off the drop. My observations ended there.
  • 1 0
@calbert813 thats what I'm thinking. I've ridden there a lot, and I have no idea how its possible to mess this one up. The drop pretty much does the work for you.
  • 1 0
It was a demonstration of how not to ride a boulder....in Boulder, Colorado.
  • 6 0
 Gravity's stronger over in Colorado
  • 2 0
forgot to disengage the auto pilot. it was programmed to do an endo to front flip, aka pilot eject.
  • 1 0
He was probably given the bad advice of "just relax, lean back, and roll off the edge" when you really want to do a shallow wheelie so the bike stays level.
  • 5 2
as @hardyk stated: it looks like a girl... and if you listen it sounds like a girl. No need to neg prop hardyk or act like any of you haven't done that same move in some way at some point in your riding history. Only real difference from her fall and yours is this girl may walk away with some bike swag. Good luck to her.
  • 3 0
@hardyk that sure would explain it! Big Grin I loved #2 with that man-sized drop & Randy Orton or w/e his name is body slamming him into the trans, but #4 was so "WTF?" y'know? I really can't decide, but whatever the story with #4, I think they might be in da wrong bidnits. Say'n?
  • 3 0
"Heels down" they said. "Weight back" they said.
  • 18 0
Naw bro... It was me. Im def a dude. The funny part about it is that I had done larger drops before. It was just the end of the day and I was a little tired and for whatever reason I freaked out a little and froze up. It hurt quite a bit... My pride mostly. Watching that video over and over is still a little painful, but eating shit thay hard makes you really learn from your mistakes. When it happened I had been riding a little over a year and a half.
  • 2 0
@teethandnails no worry dude this guy right here fail more... www.liveleak.com/view?i=ac9_1322132448
  • 3 0
Why the hell wont #4 play for me? All the rest do.....
  • 1 0
try going to the page of the video
  • 2 0
C'mon, #4 wasnt that bad. Id say he hit the transition pretty smoothly!
  • 1 0
haha i had a friend do that once. me n my buddy were stopped at a jump waiting for him, he came down slowly keeping his eye on us smiling thikning it was kinda over. then bam. his butt touched the back of his head and had a concussion. thought it was a spinal by the looks of it. just a concussion.
  • 1 0
#4 FTW! Too bad that nobody told him that drops + brakes = exponentially magnified gravity! (That or he's testing out Maxxis new octopus compound tires...)
  • 79 0
I love #1 'your bike is fine, don't worry about that'... 'Sweet'
every riders first though after they crash, MY BIKE!
  • 33 0
ahah that was me and though i could not breathe i was rather relived ahah

#1 wins for me as i know these guys. At least im not the only one whos ate shit up perry lol
  • 4 0
I'd much rather have to buy a new bike than have to sit on the couch for 6 months while I'm recovering.
  • 3 0
Man I think #1 is one we can all relate to... We've all been there!
  • 3 0
Looks like stantonhardtailmtb threw in a bus-driver barspin before impact. Mad respect
  • 1 0
The bus driver barspin was defy intended Wink
  • 73 0
 #8 I think he's celebrating his survival!
  • 40 1
A do or die gap. #8 wins for me.
  • 14 0
HAHA he was just stoked he survived... that gap is gnarly man.
  • 5 0
8 because the crash is high speed an its a sick gap
  • 1 0
It's an insane jump. In my opinion he doesn't deserve the win because if he fails a jump like that the backprotector will be useless, better to give it to someone else. Wink
  • 4 0
That was no fail....kid won big. Serious, high consequence shit there.
  • 3 0
Absolutely the least fail clip I've ever seen in these posts. It could have gone a lot worse than just washing out on landing - the dude could have come up short and gone home in a wooden box.
  • 46 1
THAT LAST CANYON GAP THOUGH!!! STEEZY AS FUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!
  • 12 1
Guy have testicals made of inox. Respect...
  • 32 0
That's the kind of wreck where you are just glad you cleared the gap.
  • 25 0
Yeah man, considering the consequences, I call that a win.
  • 13 0
If I made that gap and crashed, I'd hardly call that a fail.
  • 7 0
thats the kind of wreck/gap where you're happy to hit the ground and not miss the ground.
  • 4 1
 #8 all the way!
  • 2 0
the little twerks he throws out there make me feel some kinda way
  • 30 0
 #4, best drop ever!
  • 25 0
#5 if only for the outfits. They look like they were heading back from a scuba trip.
  • 1 0
LOL!! I think it was due to saddle set in pedal position.
  • 22 0
#1 simply for the quote " your bikes fine don't worry bout that." Someones got their priorities in the right order.
  • 2 1
 Is that a Charge over-Cooker.......
  • 12 1
no 1 looks pretty hard, while no 4 doesn't deserve to ride a full sus mtb, even an mtb with those skills
  • 10 2
#2 was a great crash - but gets marked down for that RKO nonsense - that shit has got old really quickly.
#4 has a beautiful inevitability about it - the ride into the feature meant that landing on his face was the only possible outcome.
#7 wins for me. Hilarious. Properly hilarious.
  • 10 0
"Your bike is fine, don't worry about it." That's the first thing you want to hear from your mate after a hard crash.
  • 2 0
 uuhhh gggg uuuuh SWEEEET...oooohhhh uuuhhhh.
  • 10 0
 was #8 really a fail?
  • 6 0
No, not at all, I think he was just trying to get across. If he landed without breaking any bones - total success.
  • 6 0
Screw the vids, I wanna know whats going on in that photo at the bottom! Love that the poor guy is still reaching for his front brake, lol.
  • 2 0
Lol, still reaching for the rear brake too! Sorry dude, brakes don't help when the wheels are up!
  • 5 0
how does one get voted the winner? am I the only one who thinks it makes sense to put a poll thing at the end of each fail of the month and have that be the method?
  • 6 0
Oww so that's where the landing was on that canyon gap
  • 4 0
He didn't expect to land that one.
  • 3 0
I wish there was another angle of #4, it just seems so impossible to have that front end dip so drastically so quick... he must have had all of his body weight pushing down on those bars
  • 3 1
Or he was so scared, that hit the brake slighlty right before the edge. And the braking forces pushed the front end of bike right down.
  • 4 0
its a feature in the middle of an xc trail... lots of people go for it who shouldnt...
  • 2 0
Beautiful min flip. Turn your phone sideways, yo! Hey Boulder Drop! That was the laziest-ass attempt I've ever seen. Pull up...... just a little..... pleeeeeeeaaaaassssseee! Green River Gap - awesome! Glad he made it at least. January winner - loved it!
  • 2 0
#8 - so THAT's how the gnarly canyon gap in the "Freeride with an Enduro Bike" article ended up, huh? Really wild gap and crazy ass landing - props for sending it!

That photo of the dude flipping over on the blue bike has me feeling kind of scared, mainly because the dust implies he is coming toward the camera...? that's a hell of a tumble and probably not going to feel well on landing...
  • 6 0
I'm surprised the editor of #2 didn't make him wear a white and gold dress
  • 4 0
No No. We're starting that on here!! And the dress is defiantly blue and black
  • 6 1
#2: Krzysztof Kawula? More like Krzysztof broken Klawikula, amirite?
  • 1 0
 More props! Big Grin

Great comment.
  • 4 0
#2. Why did he fail? Sounded like something cracked (or was that his shock bottoming out?). I couldn't spot his error.

#4. My fav so far. Probably because that's probably what would happen to me in that scenario. I couldn't stop laughing.

#8. Not a fail in my book. Jumping that chasm took huge cajones!
  • 5 0
Was it a national "Try a backflip" day in Canada?
  • 2 1
Most of the fails are clearly guys in over their heads technical wise. They lack the skill to be trying what they're doing. Others fail because they were just off in some way. Clearly #4 had no business attempting that. Start out at 1 foot and perfect your drop buddy and go from there!
  • 10 0
if you don't crash from time to time you are simply not riding hard enough
  • 1 0
i can attest to that one haha
  • 2 1
Hey I would love it if there was a nsfw or some warning about the rampant cursing in some of these vids... My kids love these crash reels but the lauguage is not for their ears. If I have to I'll just not play themm any mor, but a warning would be nice. Thanks!
  • 1 0
I wonder if crash #1 happened in Blean Woods.. Krakow, I used to ride there a bit. Never seen such a big drop out there though. Well, maybe it was a good thing (: Nice edit by the way, pretty pleased watching it
  • 4 1
They still haven't found a cure for getting the wind knocked out of you? You slippin science!
  • 3 0
Apparently trying to force a cough helps a lot
  • 3 0
I've been planning on throwing a "manual resuscitator" in the back pack when I find one. Sometimes I get winded for so long, I would have enough time to get it out of the bag and use it after a crash. I think it would definitely save some brain cells. Every doctor I talked to about this said it is a stupid idea. I don't think they understand.
  • 4 1
#8 I bet hes just glad to clear the Canyon... who cares if he slammed on the landing, that takes some mega balls to do!
  • 4 0
5 was the biggest cringe for me. Best day of the month.
  • 6 0
Biggest cringe is going on the comment section of the Yoga article

  • 2 0
 That hurts!!!

Dang man, stairs like that would hurt a lot..
  • 4 0
Agreed, those stairs in a concrete trench looked painful even before any cyclists appeared.

#4 the lycra at the end explains everything
  • 2 0
#1 is the most relatable for most people, we don't all do backflips and canyon gaps!
  • 4 1
#4 - damn 29 wheels are so big I can't get my ass back enough...
  • 2 0
Anyone know what trail that is in Boulder? White Ranch? (New to Denver area and trying to find fun trails).
  • 4 0
It's not in Boulder. It's tagged wrong. The trail is Stone Temple in Curt Gowdy State Park, WY. This is a great weekend trip for people in the Fort Collins, Boulder and Denver area. You should also hit Lake Pueblo and Canon City.
  • 1 0
I'll have to check out the Lake Pueblo and Canon City trails once all this snow melts.
  • 1 0
Curt Gowdy State Park. super fun trails up here in Laramie. check out happyjack trails too if you make it up
  • 2 1
Lake Pueblo sucks. There's one short hill with several lines, plus a bunch of flat, boring XC trails. Check out Gowdy first.
  • 1 0
Lake Pueblo sucks? You clearly haven't seen the entire area. The area is stacked with rock features and fast chutes. Gowdy is great, but is snowed in many months of the year. Pueblo is ridable "almost" all year. Why should someone check Gowdy first when it'll be under snow for 3+ months?
  • 1 0
By all means, if everything else is snowed in, then go ahead and try Lake Pueblo, but that's really the only reason you'd want to ride there. If you're from Denver and you want to drive somewhere, Springs is closer and has much better riding. Gowdy also has much better riding. I've ridden everything at Pueblo. There's one hill that has maybe 150-200 ft. of vertical with several options and a bunch of flat XC trails. A couple of the runs down the hill are fun, but they're super short. It is also a good place to do endurance base training since there's a ton of mileage that is easily rideable without getting your heart rate up.
  • 3 0
I guess a lot of people don't like Pueblo, which is why it's so much fun to go there! Last time I rode Pueblo the only two people I saw all day were some idiot from Rochester and an even bigger idiot from Wales. Man that guy had a weird accent.
  • 2 0

mmm. Dont edit you clip to make it look cool. The crash was cool but all your editing is shit! You know who I'm talking about.
  • 1 0
 Thanks pinkbike!
  • 1 2
Me thinks #4 was *specifically* trying to make this page.

No one rides their bike off a drop like that on accident.
  • 4 0
I was holding the camera..this is not staged. This happened many months ago. I had to wait for his physical and emotional wounds to heal before I posted it.
  • 1 2
I'm truly not convinced. Has he never ridden a bike before? Who goes off a ledge and just plummets straight down?
  • 2 0
I wasn't convinced when I saw it. "Did that just happen?" I'll be sure to buy him a beer and review your concerns with him.
  • 1 0
Looks to me like he got his weight over the back before he dropped. If you do that it slingshots you over the bar. Weight should go back, just as your front wheel is leaving the drop, so that it keeps the bike level.
  • 1 0
 #1 to win
