Bike videos nowadays make me feel all kinds of different things. Right now I wanna go ride my bike, watch conspiracy documentaries about the moon landing and call my mom and tell her I love her.
  • + 127
 Always call your mom, always!
  • + 30
That table at the end was so mint. Brandon has won some internets today.
  • + 106
I also feel like calling your mom!

...Sorry, I couldn't resist. "Your Mom" jokes are still in style right?
  • + 51
This makes me feel like.... I want to watch a real BMX edit.
  • + 5
@scott-townes: There was a couple good ones on Movies for Monday.
  • + 57
@scott-townes: I'm with you. I like the vibe of this, but I wish there were a lot more riding content. The 60% riding/40% artsy split just doesn't cut it for me. Give me more Semenuk on his bike please. This feels like the trailer for a rad bike movie that won't ever get released.
  • + 2
twilight saga emo style. and beautiful anyway!!!
  • + 3
Call your mom especially, this Sunday. Then watch more Semenuk videos.
  • + 1
@scott-townes: watch any holy fit vid (by fitbikeco)
  • + 1
Semenuk - always worth it to open and see the video
  • + 3
@savage47: yhha scotty is the king
  • + 3
@mackster23: then go watch one. This is an art project between Semenuk and Walker so be prepared for artsy stuff. Neither is better than other, but theyre certainly different.
  • + 5
Go watch Bonedeth's the Dirty Sniff for a real street video.

flag RedBurn (May 11, 2017 at 11:32) (Below Threshold)
moon landing was filmed in Holywood... you must be stupid to still believe in NASA today
  • + 1
 More please!!!?!!!?!
  • + 193
Semenuk was good in this, but the cinematography was outstanding.
  • + 27
100% agreed. This was so well executed. Every scene was diversely balanced w/ geography and day settings. The different strings of audio recording/music was laid down so perfectly. The juxtapose between real time/slow mo action was just right...
  • + 3
Agree... this material is serious candidate for an award.
Cheers,
Beer
  • + 20
@AdustytrunkMonkey: AKA Its Brandon Semenuk...... the fanboy effect in full swing here. That was a pretty "meh" edit. Almost 3 minutes long with 20 seconds of decent riding. Yeaaa..... about that....
  • + 33
And the choice to put in a stunt double wiping out to make Semenuk appear more human was pretty interesting too.
  • - 3
Lovely editing/filming, but I reckon Danny Amazaskill could do this stuff just as smooth on a roadbike.
  • + 5
@scott-townes: That was just a lazy Sunday drive for Semenuk tho.. Not even trying..
  • + 2
 @rrolly: HAHA SOLID OBSERVATION
  • - 2
@bohns1: That's what it looks like and yet PB users are like, "OMG GREATEST EDIT EVER! IT BRINGS ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD! IT REVIVED MY PASSION FOR BIKING! ITS SO CREATIVE AND AMAZING!"

I bet Semenuk could release a grainy vid of him road riding up a hill with mellow music and some old guy talking here and there and PB users would claim its the greatest edit they've ever seen.
  • + 1
@scott-townes: I was referring to @ibishreddin observation to the "cinamatography...." I believe he was showing appreciation not for the rider, but for the execution of what you, and I recognized. I'm not applauding Semenuk; I am to the editing, scenes being filmed, overlay of audio recording/music over the visual action.

P.S. If I was a "Fanboy" of anyone it would be Matty Miles. I really enjoy his recent solo/Matt hunter edits. @scott-townes Are you wett for Brandon Semenuk, and have to say something in denial? The only good exercise you can do is "jump" to conclusion about someone's point of recognition. KMA
  • + 1
 @scott-townes: Hahahaha, I hear Ya!

As a former BMX shredder turned MTBer, I kept waiting for the video to start.

Brandon is my fav MTB rider, his "UnReal", his "Lapse", and his "Raw" segments were 1000x times better than this. This just doesn't get blood flowing to any of my organs.

Sometimes I think Pinkbike dudes don't follow current BMX on the daily, but maybe it's hard to relate if it's not in the blood.
  • + 3
i don't follow BMX. Whenever I do, I tell myself I should watch it more.

Where do you recommend I start?
  • + 38
someone should show this video to bmxers, as they don´t follow mtb, and they will see that you can wear a helmet and shred!!!!
  • + 3
 @jojotherider1977: Building the underground.
  • + 19
2 minutes 32 of video.......57 seconds of riding.Need to up your work rate a bit.
  • + 17
 I was expecting more/better
  • + 2
@watchmen: it was probably like an Ardman animation; 4 weeks of work for a 20 second clip.
  • + 27
Why make a video that follows current BMX though? Why not make something different...it doesn't have to be all about the riding, there are hundreds of edits being made every month, and tens of good quality ones, which already satisfy that criteria...
  • + 5
 @jojotherider1977: Look up "Anthem 2"
Watch, ride and repeat.
  • + 5
@jojotherider1977: Watch Scotty Cranmers Youtube videos!
  • + 4
@jojotherider1977: The movies for your monday always has a couple of banger BMX videos at the bottom. its a real good place to start.
  • + 4
@jojotherider1977: road fools box set, dead bang, anthem and anthem 2, Etnies forward, grounded, fit life, stay fit, don't quit your day job, all the mutiny videos, brixton ain't ready
  • + 5
 All filler no killer
  • + 2
agreed, It felt like an intro clip.
  • + 1
Yeah I mean there aren't even any flares in this video! What an idiot!
  • + 6
If anyone wants a place to start with bmx videos, go with Little Devil Criminal Mischief and you'll realize any Van Holman is the best street rider ever.
  • + 1
 Van Homan....goddam autocorrect
  • + 5
Semenuk isn't a BMX rider, of course the riding in it won't be up to par with the top BMX guys. But the effortless style and amazing cinematography makes this a joy to watch.
  • + 1
watch Dylan Stark's YouTube Channel. He rips

www.youtube.com/channel/UCjI3-FRNbKFvnrG4iDnQCQw
  • + 2
Couldn't agree more, ex bmx here too! Very average edit filmed in a very above average way!
  • + 2
@jojotherider1977: this is a good question.

BMX is the best thing ever, so in answering I'm going to start with that basic premise.

The "feeling" of riding, or being associated with it, comes (for me at least) from the cast of characters represented, vs one trick after another. And, to bring this in, one person and brand continues to present the "it" after all these years:

Terrible One, and Joe Rich.

Enjoy
  • + 5
only whiners here. look at chase hawk... he's a very well respected bmxer and he also focuses on style and flow rather than the next barspin. he clearly is a big influence for semenuk when riding bmx.
there are the ones who want to be like an olympic gymnast and the ones who seek pleasure in much simpler and calmer ways on the road less traveled.

the same can be applied to the viewers of this video. some are disappointed because they wanted the most action they could get in 2.5 mins (are you in a hurry?) and for others it's relaxing and a way to get dreamy about riding your damn bike
  • + 1
 @abgs87:

Brandon is one of my favorite riders for sure but I don't think he's at the level of some of the top bmx street guys that can pull off huge gap to tech moves like you would see in any current bmx specific edit.
  • + 1
@jojotherider1977: You've probably got most of our video suggestions but just in case, check out Dakotah Roche, Courage Adams, Garret Reynolds, Kriss Kyle, and most of all Alex Donnachie
  • + 8
@jzPV: f*cking rights jizzpuv. 100%. every bloody video doesnt have be the most flippity spinneroo extravaganza to make it a legitimate upload. i enjoyed watching this, and i appreciate that it was shared.
  • + 0
 @obee1: nail on head.
  • - 1
@jzPV: well with Chase Hawk, he rides the way everyone wants to ride, he rides with style that in my opinion is unmatched.

It's just very disappointed to see that I along with many other bmxers would be a match for Brandon Semenuk in a game of bike.

This is a tremendous edit due to the filming but it's a pretty bland one in terms of substance,
  • + 2
@cunning-linguist: best trails video ever. I still think of jeff landtisers part when I hear billy jean on the radio...
  • + 3
@jerwin413: You might think you would be a match for Semenuk in a game of bike, but you are delusional. You're like those guys who think they're hot stuff in the local pick-up game thinking they could hang with guys in the NBA. The boy makes his living on two wheels. Trust me on this -- you are not close.

Anybody (non-sponsored pro) here who thinks they could beat Semenuk on a bike in anything -- even the Tour de France -- you are fooling yourself.
  • + 1
 @kbakes: exactly.
  • + 3
@jerwin413: It's just very disappointed to see that I along with many other bmxers would be a match for Brandon Semenuk in a game of bike.

you throwing this kind of declaration down on a bike site, you better have some videos backing your bullshit up.

this is sideliner talk. substitute players watching the game, talkin shit, but the best they can do is run in the water bottles to the real athletes.

prove yourself and i'll be the first to apologize.
  • + 2
 @jerwin413:
dude this guy can do a 360 downside whip to tailwhip on a full suspension mountain bike. or a cork 720 and the list goes on... if he can do that on his full sus mtb, he can do it on a bmx.

what about you?

everybody who thinks the video shows the best moves semenuk has down on a bmx, think again.
  • + 51
Settle down BMX purists, it's only a helmet
  • - 1
 Get tae fuck.
  • + 44
Now wait for that Brett Rheeder bmx video guys
  • + 3
just spit coffee all over my screen
  • + 36
 Dream team!
  • + 6
Yeah, it was fresh, BUT - I'd rather see him seeeennnddding it. One foot tables, Romaniuk styles
  • + 1
Yeah! Let's make it happen please! Everybody will be so hyped about it
  • + 30
As a BMX rider this is what I have wanted to see out of a BMX video for probably the last ten years. Modern BMX videos are nothing but follow cam nose manual lines with a million different barspins, cut to all the riders smoking weed and jumping over homeless people while the soundtrack is the worst hip hop from the latest flaka woka TY$$$$ or whoever the flavour of the day rapper happens to be this week. There is barely an ounce of creativity in modern BMX media.

THIS on the other hand was fantastic and actually made me want to get out and find new spots. Watch it with your headphones in and really get into it (this goes for all Revel Co Videos) and the experience is even better. I understand that its tempting to complain about the riding to cinematography ratio but I still think thats what makes these videos special. If you want to watch non-stop banger riding then just go to youtube and search any number of compilation videos.

Finally in regards to people critiquing the riding itself I should mention that there were several lines in this video that would absolutely be included amongst modern pro BMX riders. Maybe not all of them, but the Table transfer at the end would not be out of place at all in a Chase Hawk edit. Additionally the 180 to Full cab and half cab barspin out would not be out of place in any modern street riders edit. We should probably remember that BMX is not his main sport and my guess is this edit was filmed in between filming mountain bike content.
  • + 3
 well said
  • + 24
Dudes skills on an mtb are peerless, probably the best there is. Not the case with the BMX. Mediocre at best when measured against what guys are doing on them nowadays. Same goes for mtb'ers trying to flex on motos. Snooooozefest.
  • + 33
I think with the shit Semenuk is doing on MTB, he gets a pass for not doing whips/bars in literally every line. With that being said, he's better than a lot of the pro BMX riders, he has flow and style, something that a lot of people just don't have.
  • + 9
 @Kieran-Young:

This would have been a pro level BMX video 10 years ago.

Semenuk is my fav MTB rider, but MTB and BMX are totally different.
  • + 1
*deleted* - no idea why my comment was posted twice
  • + 16
I see why you would say that, but I'll go on a wild guess and say riding was not the really the point with this video. At the very least, I don't think it was about banger tricks. But you have to admit the cinematography IS peerless is the field of action sports.
  • + 1
@Kieran-Young: your name rings a bell in the bmx scene. Yes? Talented beyond most people if you are the same person.
  • + 3
 @Kieran-Young: No he's not
  • + 6
agree that there's better BMX footage out there, but damn he's stylish. As Rogatkin keeps up'ing the technical difficulty guys like Semenuk will *always* have a following just because they're so damn pleasing to watch - regardless of what bike.

Plus - look at the conversation here. Beyond the usual "stoked" people are talking about BMX vs MTB, technical tricks vs aesthetics, emotional film-making. From a broader scope I'd say the video is a success.
  • + 1
@Kieran-Young: The good thing about BMX is they don't mention wheel size all the time! Refreshing really, MTB progresses in tech/sizes constantly, no terrible thing but BMX progressing the riding to unreal levels on simple kit. Semenuk is something else, natural talent.
  • + 26
this guy should try MTB's he could have a career innit
  • + 1
I see what you did there... Smile
  • + 22
Semenuk's creations with Rupert always seem to ignite my fascination with the world and all kinds of different locations. I wish I could travel more and see these kinds of things. Excellent video!
  • + 3
Some of those spots look insane!
  • + 18
 That was just damn beautiful.
  • + 14
Brandon Semenuk + Aphex Twin...so good.
  • + 1
 Song?
  • + 2
@NicoBoshoff: aphex twin- avril 14th (the piano sounding one)
  • + 1
 @NicoBoshoff: Avril 14th
  • + 1
 @mischieff: Much obliged
  • + 2
I wish they used that song throughout.
  • + 7
That video was okay at best. Cinematography was like 50% of the vid and the riding was slightly above your average local hero.

Watch Drew Bezanson if you thought this was good....
  • - 1
Totally agree.. An amazing rider... but yeah, I mean even Courage Adams' little 30 sec Insta clips blow this out of the water for tech.. but then... maybe I'm missing the point of this video?.. hmmm
  • + 5
Normally once there's a million comments I don't bother to comment myself but felt compelled to to say I'm surprised the reaction from some people. Not every video has to be 'check me out I'm the gnarliest rider in the world' style edit. I really enjoyed it- it's all about the feels for me and this made me want to go have a cruise on my bike. Simple.
  • + 7
not bad... but if you liked that may i suggest a Chase Hawk sampler for a master class in bmx wizardry

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V3va34MSaQ
  • + 1
I am not even mad about this whole Semenuk/BMX controversy - but thank you so much for reminding me how good Chase Hawk is. So much butteryness.
  • + 1
I get used to seeing words like wizardry or master class used online. But there is no explanation other than black magic for what is going on at the 40 second mark. No amount of replay or slow-mo can rationalize the physics of getting so sideways and then catching the tranny with the rear wheel sideways and riding it out. Also, is his front wheel in contact with the wall at some absurd angle at the top before gravity takes over? So confused, and so in awe.
  • + 1
Yes indeed. Alley oop pocket airs NEVER EVER get old.
  • + 5
I kept waiting for the artsy crap to get out of the way of his riding... Then it was over.. then I realized that I am not the only one who was pissed off as well. I appreciate art and style but I appreciate quality riding and more of it even better! Maybe next time....
  • + 8
Small bike or big bike this guy got soo much style!!
  • + 4
lol at the PB users who are like, "Did you see how dark and grainy some of the shots were? And that music track combined with narration was so (looks to dictionary) ominous. This is high art!"
  • + 3
the most boring video from Semenuk. Almost paused the video in the beginning. I prefer see him on Rampage or any big jumps with big bikes event... I love BMX videos with big urban jumps but for a BMX video I think was disappointing.
  • + 2
I think Semenuk showed some real skill here. And, as mentioned before, in not whipping and bar spinning every air he showed some real versatility. The cinematography reminded me of when I was a kid, flicking through skate and bmx magazines in WHSmiths while my Mum got the shopping. Inspirational. The images seemed reminiscent of those in the mags (low, distant shots with the sun at it's lowest). The music with the talking....? That was the emotional and the mind states as I would read the articles amongst the stills. I enjoyed.
  • + 2
20-inch, 26-inch, whatever. This guy has more talent on two wheels than most people have in anything, period. Look at that tabletop at the end. You could eat your dinner off it. I can't wait until he releases a 29er cut, so I can watch everyone's heads implode.
  • + 6
Sorry but that was just boring....
  • + 6
Aphextwin plus semenuk it's gotta be good
  • + 1
I started riding XC more than 10years ago... Then I wanted some change. Individuality that is. So I suddenly switched to BMX and I got a lot of haters from my community, from MTB & BMX riders alike. I didnt care...people will say what they want. I was really having a lot of fun then & I was alone riding all the time. but It didnt matter that much to me.
  • + 1
So trying to figure out what (REAL BMX IS)???? So do you have to do tricks with no helmet so when you fall you look kool while your buddies do the bevis and butthead laugh?? What if you just race BMX are you REAL BMX then? Its funny this gets brought up when he is on a BMX but when he is park riding on a dh bike not one comment of (this isnt real DH) lol.
  • + 2
Was that a trailer or the whole video? Perhaps it was a film student's senior project?

All those locations and we get a 3 second burst of each with actually riding? I'm confused.
  • + 6
 average on a BMX
  • + 5
Sounds of Rheeder undusting his bmx
  • + 1
"Brandon Semenuk- Lapse" is legendary, I'll probably never see a better bicycle video. From the cinematography to the riding, absolutely amazing : m.pinkbike.com/news/brandon-semenuk-lapse-revel-co-video-2016.html
  • + 2
That was so Fascinatingly Beautiful! The cinematography, along with the music shifts your emotions very effectively. From marveling, to angst, to anticipation. THAT was SICK.
  • + 4
I wish I could live constantly in the feeling you get from 00:45-1:14
  • + 2
This is like average movie watchers seeing a Stanley Kubrick film for the first time. They don't get it so they lash out at it. This was a piece of art in its own right.
  • + 1
I never thought I'd see a video with Semenuk in it where he wasn't the most impressive part, but I was just proven wrong. Incredible, impressive, and all kinds of other accolades for the production value in this one!!!
  • + 1
I would rather watch one of my friends crash into a pole while trying to do a wheelie. At least they are pushing their own boundaries. Pro riders doing pro things in a 2 min cut that they filmed 100x is boring as fuck.
  • + 1
Quality vid, but I don't know if it was Kubrick level or like one of those fake commercials on SNL. Semenuk's riding was no joke...that peg scrape in the tunnel was sweeeeeeet!
  • + 3
Is that Power plant in Page AZ, near Lake Powell?
  • + 1
sure is.... but none of the riding was there i dont believe.
  • + 3
Semenuk in shorts, whoa. Mind blowing video
  • + 1
Meh... dunno what you all are going gaga for, you must not watch much bmx. The 10% of this video which actually had riding was pretty weak.
  • + 1
Too many people hating on this. Epic riding, epic filming--awesome mix of like Kriss Kyle and Dakotah Norton morphed into his own style.
  • + 2
Ready for the downvotes........ But I'd rather see more shredding less conceptual "stuff"
  • + 1
What did Page, AZ have to do with any of this? Lots of shots from there, kept waiting for the riding there... to link it all together..... odd. Great vid and riding though.
  • + 2
That could have been so rad if it was 2 minutes longer and had more riding and no shit about "signaaaal"
  • + 1
This video could have an awful rider in it and still be amazing, but they use the steeziest rider in the world and turn it into pure art.
  • + 2
Maybe not as action packed as the title would suggest but beautifully shot and decent enough riding! Def worth a watch.
  • + 1
Wish I could ride like him but in my dreams I manual like a boss need to step it up and start nose bonking.
  • + 1
That uphill backwards 180 rollback was stunning (or whatever that move at 2:06 would be called).
  • + 1
I enjoyed this video. It made me think I need to push my boundaries. That and just ride my damn bike.
  • + 1
TIL I'd rather learn whips, bar spins, etc on a DJ than a BMX. Wrecking on concrete doesn't look fun
  • + 1
You can see more impressive tricks on a good BMX video, but the cinematography of this one is just excellent
  • + 1
Kinda nice seeing street edits where they wear helmets..good example to set
  • + 1
Bruh it got me so stoked to see a few of my local spots in this video (SF, santa cruz)!!!
  • + 1
Looks like his drivetrain is on what would normally be the non-drive side. Nice video
  • + 1
First time in a very long time that I've watched an artsy fartsy bike video and really enjoyed it, like it, like it a lot!
  • + 1
I'm conflicted. I design dam spillways like those shown in this video. So am i happy about my work or about bike riding?
  • + 1
Quality has come so far, it's almost hard to see quantity anymore. Thankyou digital world, but fuck you also.
  • + 2
He's like a poor mans version of Remy Morton.
  • + 1
 m.pinkbike.com/video/322147

Reminds me of this video just not as good.
  • + 1
Is there anything he can't do on a bike? so damn smooth. Reminds me of me if I was him.
  • + 3
 big up the Aphex Twin
  • + 1
These revelco videos are killing it, so moody and great shots with killer riding. Nice work!
  • + 1
The cinematography sure is amazing, but the riding is cut a little too short
  • + 1
too bad there isnt more street footage
  • + 1
 Beautifully shot, edited and paced.
  • + 0
Semenuk is mad at the BMX cross over guys and is going to go kill it on the small bike for a bit.
  • + 1
Video not long enough... want more.
  • + 1
I got a Stranger Things vibe
  • + 1
I love semenuk style but... meh
  • + 1
poteva fare di meglio , sinceramente non mi piace
  • + 1
Frown work blocked vimeo player....now how am I going to waste my time??
  • + 6
Take up smoking and go for of smoke breaks, lots of smoke breaks.
  • + 3
@h82crash: I had a boss that literally took smoke breaks every 20 minutes. Whenever you looked for him, you could find him outside smoking.
  • + 2
I work in a nuclear plant and if you smoke you get nearly half your day off! Smoke pit always full of useless meat wasting the company $$$. Of course I sit here watching bike vids all day...
  • + 1
 pushbullet and send to phone.
  • + 1
Semenuk finally found his master. It's the director/editor of this video.
  • + 1
what is this semenuk and nyquist are lo key switching spots stay woke

 Familiar music track))

Always a poetic duo with Semenuk and Walker. Wonderfully done!

this video title is so good
  • + 2
 20"!
  • + 4
21.5" next year lad, you wait!
  • + 1
@cunning-linguist: 22" is real and 21.5 is for frames...get with the times man! Wink
  • + 0
@feeblesmith: sorry I meant to say 21.458" with boost spacing.
  • + 1
It's art. It's not about massive banger tricks.
  • + 1
Jak dla mnie to słabe w huj
  • + 1
Nice shots and all, but too Artsy for BMX if you ask me...
  • + 1
 Snore
  • + 1
 so much sick
  • + 1
 Incredible
  • + 1
 Dont quit your day job.
  • + 0
What can that guy do?!?! So much natural talent
  • + 1
You missed a critical " 't " in that sentence
  • + 1
 really cool, into it
  • + 1
 Who's mans is this?
  • + 1
 Sick!
  • + 0
Nice video but those wheels are too small.
  • + 0
So much MTB influence in this piece!
  • + 0
 Definitely worth the 10 megabytes
  • + 1
 Good rider. Boring vid.
  • + 1
 More peg combos pls
  • - 2
Should be called "ROOTS" as in Semenuk taking it to the roots of slopestyle.
  • + 0
 That is art.
