Anybody else disappointed that they were not riding in the western gear? Get a huge ass cowboy hat and tape it ovet the helmet.

THAT would have been hilarious.
  • + 3
Chased down by Indians on the older bikes ????
  • + 3
There was a bmx kid who used to show up to the local dirt jumps like that. Apparently he could throw down, too... used to do flip bars with a little cowboy hat taped to his helmet
  • + 3
Iv tried it: Halloween dh race. Theres enough wind force to pull a full face hemet off, if it wasn't buckled. Minus that detail it was funny.
  • + 55
GO ON AND GIT!!! Had to watch it again. Still laughing.
  • + 7
thats a pretty impressive ghosty haha
  • + 8
Did a lol right off the hop when I saw the map with big "Bellingham City" and tiny "Whistler Village". That's local humour right there. Too funny.
  • + 8
@rrolly: "Ferntucky" -- bwahahahahaaaa! Classic, and yet, so true...
  • + 38
Lmao, I love these videos. Their acting is almost as good as their ridding.
  • + 24
This is gold, a great video that sums up why I love mountain biking, grown ass adults gooning on bikes pretending to be cowboys. How can you not love it?
  • + 16
 I need that sentinel...
  • + 13
is that the same lake that the Juliana Strega was sacrificed in?

I have the sickest references
  • + 13
Oh HELL NO! I ain't getting rid of my Scout until complete MELTDOWN!!! It's my favorite bike. EVER!
  • + 2
It's a modern classic bike. In league with the likes of SC 5010. It's almost a shame they felt the need to change it.
  • + 1
They didn't change a lot luckily. So i will keep riding mine until it falls to pieces... i have put a 160mm fork on it and a -1.5 angleset and the rear end can still handle it. Impressed by what you can get out of 125mm! Never rode a bike that was even comparable to the scout...
  • + 2
@Schlafmutzli: just been riding a scout on DH trails at Descend bike park and had no problem at all. This one has a well tuned shock and dh casing tyres and feels like there's nothing it can't do - dj to dh. The perfect one bike, quiver killer for me. Going to do Ard Moors race in a few weeks and will just put lighter tyres and tip my saddle forward a bit. Not expecting to win but I'm not worried at all.
  • + 2
@ThomDawson: haha yeah i've been to portes du Soleil. It could even handle Vink line. But it's on singletrails where it really shines. Up or down you never feel the need for another bike...
  • + 8
I know they've talked a lot about their new geometry, but I can't imagine they could get any better than my current Smuggler. The geo on that bike feels so spot on perfect. It's a great climber but also super confident descender that's almost impossible to OTB on. It's ridiculous how capable it is for a short-travel 29er.
  • + 2
You might not be able to imagine it, but the dudes at TRHQ have imagined, and built it. 2018 Smuggler, because TR11 was already taken.
  • + 5
'15 smuggler owner here and I agree totally, I've told people hundreds of times, if you endo a smuggler you accomplished something because it is impossible imo. lol I love my smuggler, just upgraded to X01 Eagle and man having that extra range is AWESOME on the ups!! Took it to a bike park this past weekend and had an effing BLAST!!! it jumps so good!
  • + 1
 @mtbiker4Lyf: Yep, and I don't even have a 140 fork on it...yet.
  • + 7
I love these crazy videos. So funny. It's one of the reasons I got hooked on this brand. Seems like the new Transition Patrol got a downtube protection. It would be nice if it could retrofit on the old one.
  • + 14
No Man you need to let go to pasture LMAO !! hahaha.. go on and git..
  • + 3
3M Waterproof electrical tape is great for downtube protection.
  • + 6
So the exact geo specs of the bikes are out. That new Patrol looks amazing.
www.mbr.co.uk/news/bike_news/transition-sentinel-364397
  • + 2
I'd really like to try the new bikes, just to see how the extra 15mm reach feels on the XL
  • + 7
@src248: It seems like MBR might have been a little too trigger happy on the article. They pulled the geo. info. on the above hyperlink.
  • + 2
 @guycharlesvalois: anyone get a screenshot?
  • + 5
@Agleck7: not me, but I took it down for the Sentinel (L) and Patrol (L):

Patrol
STA: 76.6
HTA: 64
Reach: 475
Chainstay: 430
Seatube: 440
Wheelbase: 1238
Fork Offset: 37

Sentinel
STA: 76.3
HTA: 64
Reach: 475
Chainstay: 435
Seatube: 440
Wheelbase: 1247
Fork Offset: 41 or 43mm depending on fork choice
  • + 1
@guycharlesvalois: yeah. The word "Embargo" still implies here....
  • + 3
And so continues the trend of massive front triangle with tiny rear end
  • + 2
 It's merely implied? @mountainyj:
  • + 1
@Agleck7: check out the sentinel thread over at the mbr forum
  • + 7
The most extreme makeover in the TR 2018 lineup is most definitely Sam Burkhardt!
  • + 1
lol, i was like whos that guy
  • + 1
 Ha!! So good.
  • + 6
I love everything about Transition. I've owned about 4 of their bikes and loved riding everyone of them. Got my eyes on a 5th.
  • + 1
 No durability issues with yours?
  • + 2
@rrolly: Just paint issues, but nothing physical with construction. Had some dings that never amounted to any failure of the materials.
  • + 5
But I just got my Scout! Just got back from BC, had an absolute blast riding it at Silverstar and Big White, don't think it's time to put it "out to pasture" just yet
  • + 3
I've got my '15 Scout and no plans to let it go yet either, plus I've always had it set with a 150 fork. Hopefully the chainstays are stronger on the new one since I'm on my 3rd, but I love the bike despite that
  • + 3
@GlassGuy: I love what I hear about how these bikes ride, but the durability has me a bit spooked.
  • + 3
Just got a '17 Scout and still trying to find it's limits in the rough
  • + 2
@rrolly: Besides the chainstay cracking I haven't had any other issues, and fortunately the cracks haven't been "catastrophic"---I had time to figure out was going on. Also, I'm 6'4, 210 and a pretty rowdy on my bikes so that equals to some harder stress than the average rider.
There are a ton of great bikes out there but if I had cash ready for a bike I'd probably just get a new Scout so I'd always have a backup! And like SeaLegs26 said....it's felt more capable and more comfortable to me than the 160 bikes it replaced
  • + 1
@GlassGuy: carbon or aluminum version? Did they cover it?
  • + 1
@rrolly: I'm riding a 2010 Covert, (non Giddy Up), that was built from the frame up for the last 3 years and loving it! Was a buddy's bike before that and have had Zero durability issues. Love my Transition 26" and have no plans of getting anything new until there is a frame issue. Really like and appreciate the company and what they stand for too. My $.02 worth
  • + 1
@Canadmos: alloy, and yep...they send a new one, so I can't give any hate at all. I asked if I should be riding a Patrol as I thought it might take a bit more abuse and I was told it wouldn't make a difference.
  • + 1
@GlassGuy: Thanks! Looking at getting a Scout to replace my broken Spitfire. Tested one for a few hours and it was a hoot.
  • + 1
@lightsgetdimmer: That's good to hear. I was reading that some of the Transitions in the past few years had issues with their pivots as well, if I remember correctly. I was kind of surprised, to be honest.
As soon as my schedule frees up, I'm want to head over to Bellingham and demo a Transition.
  • + 8
 The Brick!!!
  • + 3
I'm diggin my 2016 Scout though, so?

Awesome, funny video. And impressed they've watched "Bonanza" to caricature (pretty decent acting too)

Does anyone know there video making process or who does their videos for them? - it's really good, multiple cameras and angles, drone/s? I thought right when they first started making videos they were immediately better than the then big brands' videos.
  • + 1
Loving my 2016 Scout to but time for it to move on, this new line up looks so good ! What to get though ?
  • + 1
 Bonanza!!
  • + 5
3 years old! shoot that sumbitch! basically useless that bike, haven't you heard? them new steeds got 1 deg slack HTA and 1mm lower bottom bracket! its a reeeeeee-volution!
  • + 6
 @transitionbikecompany please can I have a job?
  • + 9
don't you have farms in GB?
  • + 14
 @likehell: not bike farms
  • + 1
@notphaedrus: I see the problem now! Good luck!
  • + 6
Best thing I've watched since Interstellar ????
I NEED that Patrol!!!
  • + 3
Me too partner but why they so darn expensive ? Would need the 2 kit but at nearly £5000 not a chance !
  • + 2
I'm looking very closely at a Transition frame for my next build - Patrol or Scout, I'm undecided at the moment. Only thing that worries me about the new line is if they all have the new 'balanced geometry' thing with reduced offset forks. I can't afford a new frame and fork so would want to use use my current fork on the new build. I wonder if this would screw the geometry. I hope they haven't made me have to re-think my next bike.
  • + 1
you just need a off set head set or off set bushings for your shock and you are good to go....offsetbushings.com they are like 40$ and an angle set is like 100$
  • + 0
Just seen other specs on mbr.co.uk (www.mbr.co.uk/news/bike_news/transition-sentinel-364397)

Boost spacing too, so now I'd need a new rear hub. Let's hope there are still some 2017 models floating around when I'm ready to guy.
  • + 1
 *ready to buy.
  • + 2
@oldmanfalling: If you are lucky you can use adapters with your 100/142mm wheels to make 'em work with a Boost frame.
  • + 2
It isn't necessary to buy a new rear hub if you already own a 142mm hub. Just buy an adpter to convert it to boost at about €20,-
  • + 2
@oldmanfalling: u don't need a rear hub dude.. Just get the lindarets hub spacer kit with rotor spacer.. Been on mine two seasons no issue.. A slight re dish of your wheel and ur golden.. Think I paid $37.00
  • + 6
@Bird-Man: You are confusing fork offset and head angle, offset bushings / an angle headset would not give the same effect as a reduction in fork offset, especially as the head angle is already quite slack.

@oldmanfalling: Realistically it wont ride like complete crap as the geometry isnt that radical but it would be just like riding a long, slack bike and you wont get the benefits of the lower offset fork, that would be a big deal for me

Contact your local RS or Fox importer and get a new crown and CSU, they are not that expensive in reality, you just need a 27.5 version if you want a 29er frame or a 26" version if you want a 27.5 frame.
  • + 4
Run it with whatever fork you have, it won't make any difference. The 'reduced' offset is only marginally smaller. Upgrade to a shorter offset later down the road if you want to.
  • + 1
@bohns1: any creaking? I might take my current wheelset (non-boost) and build up a Sentinel frame.
  • + 1
 @ThomDawson: isn't it 8mm reduced offset for the 29er? That's not a small difference.
  • + 1
@briceps: you won't get creaking running wheel spacers. I have ran generic eBay Ones for a year and they are fine.
  • + 0
@Racer951: 3-5mm. It will make more of a difference for the 29er and the slacker models but it won't be earth shattering. If we're talking about a 52mm offset forget it, those are no use to no one. I wouldn't fuss about using a 46mm, personally I might even prefer it where I ride. I haven't seen exactly what they're doing on the Scout and Patrol but I think probably ~5mm reduction; on the Scout that may be an excercise in wheelbase reduction more than anything else depending how slack they made it.
  • + 2
They'll be selling frame fork combos as well as complete builds from what I've heard.
  • + 1
@ThomDawson: ummm you do realise that 52mm is the standard offset for Fox 29 and most RS 29er forks as specified on the majority of production bikes?

You can't do far even buy a lower offset fox 29er fork off the shelf than 52mm at the moment.

So, as I say, the reduction of 8mm is pretty damn significant.
  • + 1
@Racer951: fox offset will be 42mm and rockshox 44mm they quote the geo for 43mm to split the difference I guess. For the Sentinel that is.
  • + 1
@DeLaRosaMTB: right, thanks for the info - that's a big change from the standard offset Fox use now at 52mm then.

Interesting to see if others follow suit and Fox starts offering the lower offset fork aftermarket.
  • + 1
@Racer951: you're right, I spoke too hastily. I didn't like 52mm csu but that's not to say there aren't a lot of people using them. But if you are the bike will still work just fine, maybe not exactly how Lars intended it to but you'll still have a big ol' slack and stable machine which you could then change the fork on later on. Doing it that way around may even help the rider decide just how much increase in trail they can handle? I'm curious just how many people will get on with the Sentinel with its slack HA and reduced offset, you've really got to be charging to make that work ime.
But the OP was talking about the Patrol/ Scout and for those I really wouldn't sweat using a current fork to start with. Actually I think the Scout has the most to gain from reduced offset, giving it some more descend credensh while keeping the wheelbase short but I would also expect to see the smallest difference on the Scout, the Patrol a little more so.
  • + 3
The headangle on my SupaSmuggler is sitting around 65.6 and it feels spot on. Can't wait to try these new bikes. Especially that Sentinel.
  • + 5
Get well soon, Lars.*Some Lars were Harmed in the making of this video.*
  • + 2
yea the jump at 1:43 doesn't look like it ended well
  • - 2
yes i was harmed in this video Wink
  • + 2
Damnit I gave you a prop before realizing you tricked me! I want my prop back!
  • + 1
There you go, I dropped him one for you @PHeller:
  • + 1
So what are peoples thoughts when full specs will be released? Also, do you all think carbon is in the works too or will take a bit longer to get molds setup? Pretty interested to see what the specs on the new Scout will look like.
  • + 1
Costumes are perfect. Accents are strange, but I'm okay with it. Intros are my favorite. Thank you for not having a Hop Sing, even though I'm sure it was discussed. I watched Bonanza reruns every day for a couple years in the very early 90s. It's insane. Great vid.
  • + 1
Common with the seatpost lengths guys!! I'd have to get a 200mm dropper to be able to fit on anything smaller than a large, which likely wouldn't even fit in their frame. I'm only 5"6, the reach on the small is big enough

360mm seatpost on a small... that is shorter than a kona! Does anyone genuinely need a seatpost that short ?
  • + 1
Thats my issue with the longer reach that is becoming the norm. At 6ft, I have to move to a medium frame which needs at least a 175mm dropper.... which wont fit...
  • + 4
that is an awesome trail. Great riding and beautiful, although the climb is brutal.
  • + 1
 No doubt, the road up is steep and l - o - n - g
  • + 2
@Hyakian: What trail is it? And how long is long?
  • + 3
Love my scout. So capable. Patrol at 155 and new dh bike at 195, I had my fingers crossed for a 175 free ride/supaenduro bike
  • + 3
I happened to be rolling through Roslyn when they shot that bit at the very end and had always wondered what was going on until now.
  • + 5
I was gonna say, I totally recognize the zone they were riding (not the lake shot)...
Funny how the scene at the lake closes with, wait for it...
.
.
.
.
a "YETI" cooler - lol
  • + 1
@Hyakian: what trails are those? Haven't rode the stuff on I90 past exit 38 in a long time
  • + 1
So the entire line up is now SBG? I had previously thought that was going to only be Sentinel.

Does that mean a specially raked fork would be needed for every bike? Might limit aftermarket fork options.
  • + 1
This is a thing. It looks like Fox isn't offering a 36 29er option in anything other than 51mm offset. So does that mean you can only get the right fork through Transition?
  • + 1
Patience, my friends. All things eventually become aftermarket.
  • + 1
So they all gain 5mm of rear travel, the 29ers both get shorter offset forks, they all get Boost, and they've added the Sentinel? I guess the thought was "don't fix what aint broke."
  • + 4
Sentinel might be the bike that makes me go 29er.
  • + 2
This video makes me want to ride my bike. Also, I'm looking at a Patrol carbon frame. Now I may be able to get a good deal on a 2017 Smile
  • + 2
Were they riding kachess or tronson? The water crossing looked like kachess, but the alpine stuff didn't look familar and I want to go find it.
  • + 1
What's the answer worth to you?
  • - 2
 Kachess.
  • + 2
@taquitos: a 6 pack to drink after we ride the trail
  • - 1
@J-Allyn: You don't just say that! I know it's national forest and all, but no one likes blowing a spot up.

@sailor0231 I'll take you up on that.
  • + 3
@taquitos: The climb to get the goods does a more than sufficient job of weeding out the masses
  • + 2
@J-Allyn: just the masses that can"t shuttle...
  • + 1
Looking for a small or medium 2016-2017 patrol for the girl friend incase any of ya'll upgrade. Awesome video guys! Always know how to have fun. NW till I rest
  • + 1
I have a medium Patrol for Sale. It's the Orange one, so I think its 2015. Great shape. #2 build, pretty stock....CH
  • + 1
Great. I'll ask the lady! @chrisherbst:
  • + 2
Love the bikes, but the durability of the paint not so much. Chips like crazy
  • + 2
paint isnt any different, your just riding that much harder Razz !
  • + 2
So am I not the only one having paint problems with Transition Bikes?
I had to cover the bike in frame protectors.
  • + 2
@rogelioblancot: Yeah, love my Scout but the paint has chipped off in a big way.
  • + 1
@rogelioblancot: Paint on my Smuggler is holding up as well as any other bike.
  • + 1
@rogelioblancot: my 2010 Covert is madd chipped up but F it. Just put some paint film on it and shred!
  • + 1
@rogelioblancot: Me too, typically, I am not a stickler on paint chips but the Carbon Patrol was chipping at a rate that was disturbing. Maybe I'm a bad rider, or a hard rider (maybe even both), but it just started to grate on me. I sold it soon after b/c it was just too much. I went back to Santa Cruz Hightower after having a Tallboy LT.
  • + 1
Transition doesn't spend money on paint. They claimed it saved us buyers money. But I'm pretty sure their bikes are still up to standard pricing. @rogelioblancot:
  • + 2
The Sentinel will be mine! Maybe... after some reviews and stuff. But I really want it.
  • + 1
transition's company slogan should be "everything old is new again". or how about a trendy acronym, E.O.I.N.A. since you "guys" love catchy acronyms.
  • + 2
The whole geometry concept if these new Transitions is very, and I'd like to emphasize the word very, interesting.
  • + 1
I mean OF these new Transitions, sorry.
  • + 9
 @andreabonasia: YEAH, YOU BETTER BE!
  • - 1
Good actittude, good vibes from those guys makes want to be part of the clâ,but... two things against..
They change bike concept design like i change socks.Or should i let them longer ?
And the bikes have every year a few less cm of travel to increase in the next year.
Apart that and if we can live with that ,nice and trust company.
  • + 2
Any one with inside knowledge regarding aftermarket availability for 29" fox 36 fork with offset shorter than 51?
  • + 0
You can get the correct offset 29 and 275 fork for the SBG from TBC.
  • + 1
Purchase a 275 crown and your set
  • + 3
 LOVE IT. #MakeMTBfunAgain
  • + 2
Any know when they will be relied and available to buy?
  • + 1
Yo dude ranch, looks like you're having a little trouble with Vimeo, send that turd to pasture!!!!
  • + 2
I can't see the geo specs on that link. Anyone have a better one?
  • + 2
Shoot dang, better have my '17 patrol scrapped now.
  • + 1
that sentinel looks great, now maxxis please bring maxxgrip dd 29er minions !
  • + 3
 Village Perople
  • + 3
 What a rad company.
  • + 1
Does the new Patrol have SBG where the fork has a different offset from what's typical?
  • + 1
Are they getting rid of the carbon models? From the images, it appears to be aluminum.
  • + 1
I heard that Transition is only making alloy trail frames for 2018 model year. My source is a friend who heard it from another bike company rep.
  • + 1
@RichPune: I hope when they do go to carbon they do aluminum rear ends personally.
  • + 1
Much less tooling investment - dip the toe in the waters to see which models 'deserve' carbon
  • + 2
Geo chart for the new Smuggler? Anybody seent it?
  • + 1
I saw it somewhere this morning, 66 deg HA, 475ish mm reach in the large, slightly shorter stays at 430 mm.
  • + 1
check out the sentinel thread at the mtbr transition forum, you should find a few answers there...
  • + 1
Greatest ad videos, those guys have major creative streaks. Almost makes me want to switch out me steed.....almost.
  • + 1
The last giddy up was way better, massive huck to flats
  • + 1
Bravo!!! Great video, love the accent, still laughing
  • + 2
 Goodbye wallet
  • + 2
 Song title??
  • + 1
I was hoping it would be in the credits.
  • + 4
The .357 String Band - Down on a Bender
  • + 1
@simonsays87: thanks! my initial guess was hank williams III but wasn't sure. nice tunes!
  • + 2
 That's not a knife.....
  • + 5
 This is a knoife ...
  • + 4
 @savmeister: that's a spoon...
  • + 2
@src248: I see you've played knifey spoony before.
  • + 1
I'll buy that scout! When everyone on Pinkbike sends me a dollar!
  • + 1
Best thing I've seen all year.
  • + 1
Dadgumit, I want me a job at that there Transition bike ranch.
  • + 1
 Rip wallet.
  • + 1
 Hell yeah! #rideroslyn
  • + 1
 Ferntucky.... LOL
  • + 1
 not that bad of acting
  • + 0
64 degree HA for the Sentinel?? Seems SLACKK
  • + 1
 YEE HAW!!
  • + 1
 . 357 String band ftw!
  • + 2
thought it was them, my favourites are how the days engrave and one more round
  • - 1
The added freewheel sound is distracting and unnecessary. Otherwise good marketing
  • + 1
 Yeeehaw!
  • - 3
So that Metric shock thing sure didn't last
  • + 3
 These are using Metric...
  • + 0
@Demoguy: I stand corrected, wasn't aware Fox was making them.
