Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all! So what did you Pinkbike community get this Christmas under the tree? Bikes? Parts? Gear? Upload it to Pinkbike and link to it in the comments and let's see what Santa brought this year.
T'was the night before Christmas
And all through the house,
Everybody felt shitty
Even the mouse.
Mum at the whorehouse
And Dad smoking Grass,
I'd just settled down
For a nice piece of ass.
When out on the lawn
I heard such a clatter,
I sprung from my peice
To see what was the matter.
Then out on the lawn
I saw a big dick,
I know in a moment
It must be Saint Nick.
He came down the chimney
Like a bat out of hell,
I knew in a moment
The fucker had fell.
He filled all our stockings
With pretzels and beer,
And a big rubber dick
For my brother, The Queer.
He rose up the chimney
With a thunderous fart,
The son of a bitch
Blew the chimney apart.
He swore and he cursed
As he rode out of sight,
Piss on you all
And have a hell of a night.
Empire 5 is a great bike for a young rider, I had one a few years back when I first got into more DH riding. For me I got a new set of minions, some tubes, boarding goggles and some sweet socks.
I got a three inch wide piece of fabric that spans the length between your neck and waist. Not sure how to tie it though….However, my 2 year old daughter got her first bike and she already recorded her first crash. Worry not, the bike came with a helmet.
any form of automobile would be an amazing present. i know its a bit different for adults, but as a 16 year old who is close to getting his N, a truck would be a gift from the gods. I would name her tracy and she would be my shuttle girl with that being said, i dont think jonathanheierle meant any under appreciation of his gift.
moral of the story, there is no story. Merry christmas everyone.
Bike related: xtools tool set, nukeproof generator 20mm front hub, and the pinkbike calender! Also some riding shorts and a hydro pack. Good stuff! Haha merry christmas everybody!
My Christmas got DAD RAD when my 9 year old daughter got tired of pedal strikes and knee tapping her bars on her Scott spark 20 and jumped on my wife's stinky only to surprise the hell out of me by blasting through the creek beds and putting down the power down out of every turn! She said she wants to ride like daddy and his friends! Now my wife's shopping dual crown freeride bikes and loving it! My family is coming together like I never would have dreamed at Christmas and I couldn't ask for anything more perfect
I'm taking my younger daughter to Moab tomorrow for her first trip there. 17 hour drive through some of the most beautiful scenery around. May not be much riding this time of year, but she'll get a sense of the place. Must sleep tonight.
@cactsdrak- Got back in the wee hours of New Year's Day. Timed the drive home to arrive in Seattle just before the Space Needle fireworks. Top of the tower was shrouded in clouds, but the experience was fun. Moab was a blast. Rode Amasa Back with my daughter, and she may have gotten her first driving experience on the dirt road between Slickrock and the Porcupine Rim trailheads. :-)
Just found out that a wonderful girl, 18, family friend and friend of my daughter's died this morning in a crash on her way to work, last day of the winter break.
Embrace life. It is a precious and all too transitory experience.
Seriously. My parent's have done enough for me. I just asked my mom to make me an angel food cake because they're delicious and I haven't had one in ages.
My daughter at 8 years old new that something was broke on my bike and made people buy an XT derailleur and a derailleur hanger for my bike. The hanger is wrong and the 10 speed will only work with mods or other parts and doesn't have a clutch. So I have Store credit to spend on what I want yay!
6'6" may be faster, but 5'9" is far more nimble. Congrats on the bike man. I'd ride the shit out of that and love it, even though the wheels come up to my balls
i found out this decemnber there really are bike gods, i sold my DH rig cause i needed the money, the same day i check my email for my paypal statement, i get an email from chain reaction saying congrats on winning the nukeproof TR. nearly fuckin cried. i can ride this summer!!!!!
I got the whole spin doctor essentials kit (this things got friggen everything!!! From Spoke wrench to chain breaker!!) a CAMELBAK!!! (I've always wanted one and needed on for racing!!) and winter riding gloves!!!!
Lol alright! Hahahaha good cause my parents got mad when I suggested putting them up for trade, i don't really need them i live in georgia its like 100 degrees for 8 months of the year and then it get to 30 for the 4 other months.
Usually my family has no clue what I like so I bought myself a Specialized Enduro and a dropper post for the new family member Anyways I'm just really glad that family comes together, we have a nice dinner and spend a wonderful evening together. Best part of the year. Also free time for riding is a gift for the holiday season. You just don't get enough of that throughout the year working your a** off.
I got a pair of ODI ruffian grips,WTB seat, brake pads,100% racecraft goggles and some riding gear and ixs kneepads. Also got some tools and a bike stand. Also got COD ghosts for when I'm not riding. Merry Christmas guys!
I got a sticker set for my Rock Shox Pike, because i want to change the painting. i also got a ton of chocolate, parfum, a big cup for coffee and a bowl for cornflakes.
got myself a slightly used 13' GT Fury Team (picking up this weekend) wife got me a three ride card to Highland Mountain Bike Park in NH. I am very happy and very lucky.
I did a 10hr ride on my Nomad. 6am to 4pm. 58 miles, 10,000 ft of climbing. Awesome 75 degree SoCal day, hero dirt everywhere. truly epic (don't sue me Specialized) The beers I had at the end were like heaven.
Gonna bust out the Nomad later now that the festivities are over. Yup 75 sunny S.D. and the trails are on right now. Oh yeah I got a new jersey that will make me faster today for sure and a sprocket coaster. Cheers!
How did you do that on Christmas? If you posted 3 hours ago that would be 10 am SoCal time... meaning you'd still be on your ride if you rode until 4 pm...
Cool man but I call bs because you said you rode on the 24th but Strava says the 23rd. Plus the ride was nothing close to what you first claimed. It's okay though because it was still a solid ride. Just be yourself man, posers suck.
what's with all the amature investigators? this was my xmas ride. 23rd. I don't own a Garmin, it is suggested that I get one due to several phone failures. check the link to the route thats posted. that's what I did. I didn't do it to impress you or to prove anything to anybody but myself. If you have doubts, check my stats. I have the miles and elevation to back this up. Week before was 62 miles. at any rate, this would not be the site to be "posing" on regarding climbing or distance. I doubt anybody cares, unless I did a backflip along the way. I did not. rant over. Enjoy your new bike. I'm in need of one myself.
uncle bought me some shimano clipless to go with the nukeproof mega tr i just won. Won the bike the same day i sold my bike cause i needed the money. There really is a bike god after all.
I am actually thinking of sending those bars back because the have a 38mm rise which I think I ordered by mistake. Do you think I should swap them for the 20mm rise or get different ones?
I got the silliest cat calendar from my mom and nothing from my dad as usual. But for a dysfunctional immigrant family full of legitimate mental health issues, domestic abuse, and physical abuse, this is something I'll keep until I die. I sent my dad an email for the first time in years and hopefully he'll reply. No family time, so I'm about to go for a ride. Here's the calendar just if you were curious(I warned ya!): s7.photobucket.com/user/rattpoison82/media/Image12252013130040_zpsc6dcbf77.jpg.html
Full Shimano Saint 820 10-speed drivetrain for my Sunday, together with a XTR 970 rear shifter for my trail bike, a dropper-post and a Manitou Minute Pro 140 fork for it. Waiting on the new nasty paint scheme for tha Sunday plus the bearings!

The wife won at Christmas. Santa brought a Specialized Status with a super sick custom paint job from Ube's Icecream Shop in San Francisco. Check out the album at:
Offered myself the gift of 1x10 with a Wolftooth narrow-wide 32t. Also got a X0 10spd gripshift since I've been curious for a while and it would solve a bunch of problems on my setup, at 55$ instead of 150$, not too much of a problem if it doesn't work out. Thank you christmas sales!
For Christmas I shall bomb trails, and fingers crossed all the hikers are at home drinking egg nog, opening presents and feeding their pack of dogs they all seem to have.
I got my power back on after three cold days without - thank-you to all the hydro people who put in long hours in the cold and ice to make that happen!
No bike gear but lots of kayak kit and a flask for the bottle of Glenfiddich I got a few days ago. Also get to spend the Christmas season in Revy and 60cm of snow forecast for the next 2 days.
Hehe, seriously, a road bike is a nice toy to play with during winter for road sprints and endurance. come spring you will faster and fitter than ever!
My family hasn't even risen out of bed yet so don't know yet what they bought me. My self-present this year is a Salsa El Mariachi SS! Best xmas present I've bought myself yet!

A brace of commencal Supreme Jnr DH, correct springs and 661 helmets for my 11 and 12 yrs old boys.
And for me well that would be my Evil Uprising I built a couple of months ago.
I was given a tiger print Onesie , a shower gel set , calendar , and vouchers for Argos. None of which will help with my biking this year so I just bought myself a ;
Formula RO 203mm Floating brake set, Raceface Atlas I-beam saddle, and titanium lever/caliper/bolts and washers to complete my bike full build ti bolt set.
Family take notes for next year, these are the sort of things you buy if you really love me

Cheers! www.pinkbike.com/photo/10446173 www.pinkbike.com/photo/10446175
Well I bought my old man a chain whip! We've been using a pipe wrench forever now, sounds janky but it worked good, I just didn't want him messing up his cassette! As for me I got some fox knee shin pads that are pretty shteezy!

got a broken BB on my mtb and a broken chain on my bmx, so no chance for my ritualistic "last december ride" which happens every year. however, got 45 kg's of girlfriend material moving in with me, which is beyond my january 2013 expectations to be honest... a happy new year to everyone here and thanks to pinkbike for being there for me after moving in to a country with barely any urban riders around. Shimano ZEE derailuer, anyone know how to set it up because ive tried but i cant, and ive got a Scram 9 speed shifter and thats is meant to make it so it will run 9 speed not 10? HELP!??
Sorry to ruin the excitement buddy but due to different cable pull ratios, that mix of SRAM and Shimano will never work. You'll have to get a matching Shimano shifter.
Both companies changed the pull ratio when they went to 10 speed, so none are 1:1 anymore. Apparently, you can run a shimano 10spd derailleur with sram 9spd shifter, and some people use a little spacer between the cable and der. body, but I'm afraid it's never going to shift great. Probably works in the bike stand, but suck as soon as you put some strain in the system. That said, I never tried, so give it a shot, I might be wrong.
Cheers, i get that im not going to get good shifting, the problem im facing is that the derailuer wont shift far enough over to get the the first cog, but then wont contract enough to go to the 9th cog and sometimes even the 8th cog, btw i am running a 10x135 axle could that be my problem?
Pinkbike tee and socks, one industries shorts and jersey, rapidracerproducts mudgard, folding shovel (to build trails and jumps) and money towards my next bike!

New gloves, tool kit, lezyne lights and dirt subscription. .. although the best part was giving my little bro the bike I'd built him - absolutely loves it
Ooh that's a hard decision, so far from riding the aurum I can tell you that it is low long and fast. Super slack and super stable and it corners like a beast. So far my favorite dh bike I've ridden, no to mention they look like a piece of art.
I got a Stumpy EVO Expert 29-er with mallet DH pedals and some 661 body armor to add to the bike shed.
My wife got a Mercedes. Fair trade in my eyes as my 10 year old Tacoma runs great......
One piece footy pj's, pretty much on par with a lump of coal! And no, I'm not 6 years old, they will come in handy on those frigid morning rides I'm sure.
Without a doubt, The only interesting posts were the joke posts and the people who didn't get anything or who didn't want anything. Everything else just feels like empty materialism from empty people. Because the emphasis should be on spending time with family not about what you got.
