Twenty6's F1 and Straitline's Ultra Stems - 2 Opti Twenty6's F1 and Straitline's Ultra Stems - 2 Options for the Boxxer Direct mount standard
The manufacturing industry for our sport is a cut throat business. Everyone is trying to make their product that much lighter, that much more unique, but not that much more expensive. The cost to manufacture goods has risen so much in the past it amazes me that these companies are still on the grind to create the lightest, most unique and functional parts for your bike, and they are succeeding. Recently we got the new Twenty6 F1 stem, along with the Straitline Ultra stem, so let's take a side by side look at them.

Goat Style Bike Festival 2009 is just around the c Goat Style Bike Festival 2009 is just around the corner
Source: Goat Style

If you listen carefully at night, you can hear the goats stirring. You can hear them running around, trying so desperately to escape from their pen. They know what’s coming; they know what’s going to happen…and they want out.

Goat Style Bike Festival is 4 months away and the anticipation is rocketing through the roof. Plans have been underway from the moment that Goat Style ’08 finished. Last year ended with rain…it was tough but it only made us stronger, and it really ticked the goats off. They want redemption; they want another crack at what’s going to be the biggest Goat Style ever. There will be no more cancellations, there will be no more muddy, soaking wet course…and there will be no more “maybe next year” because this year…it’s on!

BC’s draft Trail Strategy – the future of our BC’s draft Trail Strategy – the future of our trails is now!
by Ryan Kuhn

It’s a good time to be a mountain biker in BC. In just about every community across the province trails are being developed and enhanced, providing seemingly endless options for all levels of riders. Many are developed by enthusiastic local trail builders with the best of intentions, be it to push the limits of rider ability or simply provide more quality choices for the after work or weekend rip.

However, many of our trails are not “legitimate”…and the province has taken notice. Driven by a need to address the liability of such trails – and the recognition of the health, economic, social, cultural/heritage and environmental benefits – BC has created a draft Trails Strategy to better manage trail use and recreation in the future.

Listen up, because this will have an impact on what, and how, you build and maintain trails the near future and beyond.

Rock Bottom and Back again - Mike Metzger Recovery Rock Bottom and Back again - Mike Metzger Recovery
As a rider we are all subject to injury, it's just part of the game. It's a price many of us have paid, but a small price to pay when riding develops into more than just a hobby, and becomes a lifestyle. I am not just writing this story to explain and inform you of my injury and road to recovery, but to also explain the trial and tribulations that I know the majority of riders have experienced in their journey to push themselves to the limit, all for the sake of becoming the best rider we know that we can be. I know that tons of riders have been in this situation, and some have had it much worse, and while our injuries may vary, we all have one thing in common. We have all had to over come the obstacles of not only the physical aspect of our injuries, but also the mental element of them. This is a synopsis of my story over coming both.

I think tires are super important for both racing and riding around on your local trails, so I decided to write my first tech article on tires and tire selection. I try my best to get the most out of my tires and try to use the best tire for the conditions. I see so many posts on the local forums with people asking "What tire should I use?". And what about all those racers showing up to races with worn out tires that aren't intended for the course conditions. Hopefully what I've learned over the last couple years could be of some use to you.
