Neko "No Chainz" Mulally.... talk about drama... Couldn't believe the run he put on and I swore it would not last until all the riders went down one after the other failing to dethrone him. Down to the last 4 and it really seemed so possible. Made me want him to win it all! Then Gee comes along and crushes it! I have to admit, so gutted for Ratboy who had such a clean/complete run... and for Sam who "was" having a spectacular run! What a way to end it... best race this year!
I am too @dennisbarrera. Sam Hill run was insane without that massive crash. Ratboy too without that injury. Neko definitely a great run beating big names with their chains on.
jimmy- they usually have the replay up pretty quick on their site... google specifically for the replay may be easier. This was easily the most entertaining and exciting World Champs in a long time.
britsh comedy!!! ahahha all champs.
after the run of Neko i couldnt stop laugh, then comes the Kangurus, the Scorpion and at the end mr.Rat, are you kidding Ratex scrub the damn brigde!! that's the easy part of course.. anyway i had fun watching, LETS GO MTB!
What a day for Mulally. Why has/is there so little noise made for him as a top American DHer? So many others like Strobel and JD Swanguen and Cole Bangert have been hopefuls over the years, but barely a peep for Neko. Maybe that will change in 2015.
The two most arguably in form riders coming into the race had the two fastest final splits but lost it a few hundred meters from the line... still can't get over all this drama
Probably had something to do with falling 20 ft out of the air to flat, breaking a pedal off in the process, and his ankle. Could be worse if he didn't break his ankle but instead tore ligaments/tendons in it. Possible lower tib/fib break too I would guess. That's my ski patroller opinion though, from what I saw on TV.
It's no good being fast if you can't hold it together the guys who win are fast and hold it together which gee man does amazingly! No use being fast if you can't put the pieces together
Hahaha....@stretchza thats cruel...but true. It is actually stadistics... whenever all risk takers fail the constant individuals (in this case riders) will be there to take take the win. It happened at Champerry too.
Whatch the movie Moneyball, in this case is baseball but the basics are the same.
Same here, he didn't even attempt to scrub off the bridge, just hammered straight into it and sent it. So gnarly... I hope he heals up quick and same with Hill (hopefully he didn't get worse than a few scrapes).
I knew somehow " Rat story" would end a litle bit like Jesus Christ... Peaty and Greg taking him in arms was like a bible flash... That make me cry really... Josh=Jesus in MTB! keep on with this true energy man! and heal soon !
He's young and just getting his winning ways sorted is all so he probably will heal well. Y'know he will be even hungrier for wins next season. He and Hill both will be pissed and lookin for redemption. Next season is gonna be even better!
From the picture above he has a serious Lisfranc injury = not normally a simple recovery. Lets hope the surgeon is as good at their game as Ratty is at his! Get well soon, that was one sick jump and you still finish second!
Pleased to see a lot of educated and fair comments about Gee winning and people stoked for him too win!!! . I was gutted to see fan favourites Hill and Josh slip up on winning runs . Got to give it to Gee for putting it all together, the man is so consistent and a legend
Holy shit Neko, no chain wtf!
Great day for Great Britain, 6 medals out of a possible 9......
@will-oddy, Yep it was really GB's day last Sunday. When racing, the clock does not give a shit about the "woulda's, coulda's and shoulda's" of the world. Gee was the most consistent and DH is all about measuring risk and hoping for no mechanicals and Gee was managed to measure it best. Congrats to Gee.
^ no it doesn't?! Telling us Josh has less skill cuz his crank arm snapped ? Or that Sam has less skill cuz he pinged off line ? Gee won , but not fairly like Josh in windham for example
Gee won like Val di Sole when Hill crashed out, nevertheless he made it down the hill fastest without crashing (and I don`t like Gee). Would have been so awesome to see Hill or Rat win! Ratboys impact was really heavy (think something got injured) and Hill hitting the rocks at this speed.....:-(
Since when was a crash not important? If you crash that means you literally couldn't keep your bike upright. Gee didn't crash, he was fastest, he deserves the win! There is nothing unfair about it.
ofc...But pace of Gee is incomparable to Rat or Hill pace. Lines and insanity is what we like about these two. Gee is like sport killer. Put that aside..Gee will bang his head saying "hooow?" when he turn on replay and watch Hill ride
Honestly, you get some right nuggets posting on this site, Gee didnt deserve the win becaue Josh and Hill crashed? If they hadnt of been going so fast they wouldn't have crashed, which means if they had been going that bit slower I very much doubt they would have beaten Gees time, Gees time was a hard one to beat, Josh knew this and over cooked it..... Its that simple!! This will go down as a learing experience for Josh
Everyone has their favorite riders, mine are Hill, Blenki and Loic Bruni at the moment. Rider errors from others does not take anything from Gee, that's part of racing.
You can show support for your favorite rider without putting down on others like some have.
Next season will be so good. Ratboy, Hill, Gwin, Brosnan and Gee all had moment of greatness. Loic coming in with one more year of experience. My only wishes is that Steve Smith won't be off his game and Bulldog doing good.
But he did crash! He went over the same rocks as gee but went over the bars. On this day gee was the best rider and deserved to win. Show him the respect he deserves.
@hutchjr josh didn't have a f*cking mechanical! He made the wrong decision boosting that jump instead of squashing it! That's all part of riders skills, decision making! And he chose wrong and it's cost him badly. I love josh and think at the minute he's the best rider by miles but a poor choice cost him today. Gee also hit a tree and dropped a pedal but managed to hold on and take the win. Well deserved. Great guy and legend in our sport.
It's true Warner said it himself, the guys that win find a way to get down the hill the fastest and the safest. Had Rat squashed that last jump he wouldn't have landed flat, although at that speed, trying to squash that would have been really tricky. McDonald's is a good example and in some way did cost him a bit of time to manage the transition vs. carry all his speed. Definitely a tough one for Rat, hope he heals up in the off-season and is ready for 2015, same with Mr.Smith, be great to see him back.
I cannot decide if they are trolls or just genuinely do not understand racing.
Gee had a huge moment in the rock section that cost him time and exit speed. His run was not perfect but it was the fastest run of the 2014 UCI World Championship.
all these stupid Gee being 'lucky' and 'not deserved' comments are coming from Canadian/German trolls. All the educated and reasonable comments are from USA and Britain. Could be upset that their countries did not perform.....
Gee lost at least 1 second in the rocks further up , rat boy lost maybe half a second at the end , Gee would of beat his time even if both had clean runs in my view.
Not a gee/ratboy hater/fanboi, I think they are both great , just saying what I seen.
I think a lot riders will be changing their riding up now after Nekos run , to come 4th against riders that are usually ahead of you in the WC with no chain says a lot for all the pedal smashing the rest of the feild done with clean runs and ending up slower than Neko.
maybe neko showed us that, the point where pumping/working the terrain becomes more advantageous than pedalling, is at a lower speed threshold than most riders think? This was definitely a track thats gonna work better for chainless than most, but still I wonder if guys like Marcello are limiting themselves by choosing to pedal over everything imaginable when they should be working the terrain instead?
Oh and why are people talking smack about Gee? One of the most best riders out there holds it together from start to finish and he wins because of luck? I don't think so....
It's how Steve Peat tells it in the opening of Seasons, "Cold, Wet, Miserable, that's why we're tougher than those boys, that's how we train for World Cups"
pretty amazing ay, 5 out 6 medals in the elite and both overalls, gutted for the rat hope his leg is ok. There's gonna be a lot of left over drinks if he and peaty don't make it to the closing party.
They follow riders to the finish live so if they crash then less will be shown of the next rider... You could see in some cases that the rider behind finished in the same camera shot as the previous rider
still pissed, regardless of the potential reasons. I'm pretty sure earlier in the season he got a re-run for a downed rider in front of him ,so not the first time we've missed out on coverage. At this point in the game if there is one rider that should get the full track and camera to himself, it's definitely that guy!
What is with all the hate on Gee? Keep reading he was lucky, hell any rider these days going fast enough to compete for a win is very lucky to hold it together! Talk about Sam or even my favorite Ratboy deserving the win, it was Gee that held it together and if that's luck, everyone should start praying for luck.. 123 neg away! !!!
I agree, Gee has been a little off the pace this season but he's always at the sharp end. He did incredibly well to keep his momentum after nearly coming off in the rock garden...he must have lost a couple of seconds with that mistake, so his time would have been up there regardless of the Hill/Ratboy f*ck ups on track.
I can only speculate that Bryceland didn't realize how fast he was actually going. I'm sure he hit that jump a dozen-or-so times this week and was cozy with it. Funny thing about racing, you have a ton of people cheering you on and the juices can really get flowing.
And he still only finished .4 seconds away from gold...
Seriously, my jaw was hanging from Hill's run until the smashing final run of Bryceland. Both were on the cusp of victory. Hill was about to exit the last rock garden and essentially a few hard drifts from gold. Bryceland was so close he could probably see the frown on Gee's face. F---!!!!
Heal up Ratty, 2015 awaits! Congrats on the Silver! Cheers for a great run & that magnificent huck to flat! Congrats to Gee on the Gold! Great run! Congrats to Brosnan on the Bronze! Another great run!
World Cup curse again, if people actually new they're WChamps history, too many Z genners here that don't do backwards on they're I me phones and pads, the stupid generation with more technology than ever, this type of carnage has plagued riders throughout champs, Peaty lost 4-5 WChamps through the curse, Hill now at least 2, Greg Minnaar the 3 peat is almost impossible, only Nico Vouliiouz why he is the GOAT.
Ratboi brain explosion feel for him, but he hucked that bridge, the one time to throw a whip scrub and he boosted for the moon for hero finish and it cost him, he was almost too relaxed in some sections he sat down and could have stopped for a beer I actually thought he must have flatted in too pedally sections he was so casual. Feel for him, but that was not anyone but him.
Hill could have should have took a risk when he didn't need to, hard in that moment, you cant know where you are exactly but Im sure like 08 he knew he was on a flyer, hit a rock, miss timed unfortunate but thats racing DH, its extreme and extreme stuff happens, no risk no reward, I wanted Hill to win but it is what it is, I wouldn't change what he did, its also part of why he can be so incredible, in fractions of a second of can go right or wrong skill at that speed almost doesn't come into it, its a matter of when not if that you will crash even if you are as super human as Sam Hill as he's proven, nature can take anyone down anytime.
Gwin didn't turn up, great effort by Troy after Hill went down I wanted him or Rat to win!
But congrats to Gee he rode a great race, deserved Champ!
"last man down, josh Bryceland had a injury in the final 200 meters, fingers crossed hes ok, good effort from him for an amazing ride.....he's in a lot of pain right now, hopefully he's ok"
Think we all know who the cocky bastard is.... grow up man.
cocky bastard?! more like respectful you nobhead. He hardly mentioned his win, was looking out for a injured rider before himself... Gee was one of the first ones over to see Josh rather than cheering for this World champs win.
Medical Report On Josh Bryceland - Following his accident at the end of his run during the DHI Men Elite Finals this afternoon, British downhiller Josh Bryceland has been ferried to hospital. He will pass a scan and will undergo surgery for metatarsal fracture or multiple fractures and dislocation.
Regards - UCI Communications
Thanks flopper, wanted to hear prognosis. Metatarsal fractures aren't usually too bad, hope his dislocation hasn't done too much tendon/ligament damage. Fingers crossed for Ratboy
I'm in shock after watching that race. Worlds 2014 just blew my mind! What it could have been if Rat and Manon both did the double. Go team GB. Stoked for Gee gutted for Hill.
2014 was a banged for DH! Counting down the days to 2015 already.
Neko had an unbelievable run, to finish 4th and stay on top of that podium for so long on a chain-less run, yeah hooray for Gee, Josh and Troy but they had to pedal their asses off just to beat his time. Neko is a talent to be reckoned with!! World Champs to Neko!!
Neko No-Chain Mulally representing PA to the fullest! So good. And hats off to Josh Bryceland. To break his ankle hucking to flat at the end a World Champs-winning run is even better than gold.
Totally sick, so fun to watch! And great coverage of the track! Only part i missed was the road gap where a certain frame snapped last year, that was a gnarly gap and turn.
Gutted for Hill though. Nice to see Bulldog getting a nice run and Mullaly without a chain!! WTF just happened haha!
Hope nothings wrong with Rat!
Well that was emotional...Such an epic race! So devastated when Sam crashed 3 seconds up. Congratulations to Troy for the bronze and Neko's no chain run was unbelievable!
For those saying that Sam and Josh had it in the bag, did you say the same when Loic had it in the bag when Josh took his first win? I bet yous didnt. The fact of the matter is.... It's only in the bag when the last rider has crossed the line and you're still sat on the top step
yeah and compare to Luca Shaw or Taylor Vernon, he always can make good run under pressure. He can go on elite cat' next year and have some top 15 easily.
I was quite pissed about that. I guess they thought we didn't need to hear another overly slow rendition of the national anthem with an extra verse thrown in that practically no one has thought to learn.
Good show from the syndicat boys to run and help Josh...I was wondering when would someone come and check on Sam Hill, he looked like he might have a concussion, looked pretty dizzy in that finish area. Medics?
You have to feel like the gold belongs to the Rat. Just hope this won´t affect next world cup season, and that he is oK. Great to see Gee take it though, and Brosnan seems quite the gentelman, he has done an amazing season, and the humbelness he shows constantly is great. Also, was it just me, or was the transmition sketchy....
Similar, but he didn't quite have the finish line in sight where he went down this time - close enough, though. This one is Ratboy's Val Di Sole for sure...as close as you can get without getting it despite yourself.
I hope both recover 110% in the off-season - both were at the top of the game the latter-half of this season.
And that, my friends, is why I will never get excited about enduro. DH is practically the only place where you can pack that much skill, intensity, and excitement into such a small margin.
Please someone to build some decent pedals for top-top-top riders .Should be Bryceland proof. Craziest yet funniest race seen in a looooong time. Couldn´t stop laughing at Gee´s face when, all of a sudden, Ratboy´s epic ending ruined his title celebration. Anyway, Atherton has been a true gentleman, and the image of the Ratboy in painful "extasy" shock on Peat and Minnaar´s arms is something to well stay among some of the most outstanding endings to a competition whatever the discipline you chose.
Happy for Carpenter, she took advantage of Atherton's weakness early in the season, but has kept it going. That .088 split and the 3 secs between 2nd place shows just how hard Rachel was pushing.
Wow, I know it's free and we're lucky and all, but they really cut every corner of the broadcasting to save each and every penny. "Thanks for watching!"? What about the podium celebration for the men??! What about how ratboy's doing? I'd pay a few bucks to see such things...
Dam this page has exploded I have to say it pisses me off when people slate gee he is an awesome talented tough guy. And have to say it's usually the Aron f*cking Gwyn fans. Get a grip he is riding Shit just except it. That said enough respect to mulally for that awesome run I was hoping and fingers crossed for the poor guy he came so close and with no chain. Good lad hope he pulls it out of the bag next year and it's his time.
its not gwin fans hatin its primarily insecure hill and rat fans that dont have a clue who gee is. gee goes to rampage i think he might have hucked that overshoot rat did with no injury
In all seriousness, that was one of the most intense races I've ever watched...and there's been a decent serving of those this season alone. Today was "checkers-or-wreckers" defined...with a little NFG on the side from Mulally. Gee won it (and almost lost it himself as well) fair-and-square. Nobody held back in any of the fields. Just all-out for the gold.
As gutted as I am for Hill and Bryceland, let's not forget that Minnaar (5th at split 1) only finished 10sec off the pace with both a crash (that tree to the shoulder didn't feel good at all, I'm sure) and a rear flat near the bottom. You what-iffers best re-think that what-if podium.
I love Ratboy! Love him!
Add him to the list of landmark riders, Peaty Palmer, Sam, Nico, Ratboy........
However, I do have a pet hate when folk keep saying he woulda, shoulda, coulda won, we know that to be a given, or would it have been Sam Hill.
We all know that DH is about fastest to the line and what happens on the way is what you do with your race run, a mistake and you lose. Our beloved Ratboy made 1 mistake and in this case it cost him the race and his foot. Ask Peaty with his many silver medals, the mistakes are all part of this Awesome sport. Ratboy didn't win because his mistake was way bigger than Gee's. Gee wins end of..
As long as Ratboy comes back to full health I wouldn't change the 2014 champs for anyone. Although I wanted Ratboy to win the historical awesomeness of the whole thing just has to stick.
There aren't enough superlatives to describe how fucking brilliant downhill is, why it's not prime time simply boggles the mind.
We get ski Sunday here in the uk through the skiing season, but DH is just way way better, way way more entertaining and way way more on the edge of insanity. I luv DH 4 lyf
That was absolutely mad. Mullaly was unbeatable for so many other riders after putting out that insane chainless run. No brakes, pumping all the features and crazy line selection to keep the speed up. Feel sorry for Hill and I wonder what Ratboy broke, poor lad sent it HUGE off that last jump and wouldve had it in the bag otherwise.
nearly got a heart attack!
what an awesome race.
would have been epic if josh would have won gold with his broken ankle.
congrats to gee.
cant wait for the next season.
let the madness begin...cant wait to see steve smith back on track.
What a race! Gutted for Sam and Josh. Clearly the fastest riders just now. Great to see Sam genuinely living up to his name again. Heal up soon Josh.
Still waiting for them to correct Nekos time... its not possible...what a run! Brit 1-2-3 in womens is awesome, so glad it was Manon who took the win.
amazing but all wrong. If Gee was gonna win Rachel should have won to give them a brother and sister world champs. Ratboy was 1.35 up even though he sat down for an age, if he hadn't done that he would have crossed the line 1st with our without the broken ankle. Sam's crash was bad he was on such a good run. Shed a tear for ratboy such an awsome run.
I can't believe what just happened. Congratulations to gee, always an awesome racer. My belief that hill and rat are the fastest guys around at the moment were cemented. And neko..what can you say?
Winning isn't about going the fastest
If Sam and Josh were slightly conservative at the rock section and wooden jump respectively, they could have won
Gee knows that better than anyone else
Sorry dude but its pretty damn simple to just stay off any page until you watch the replay. I don't go anywhere until I watch it, there's always a spoiler. Be smart.
15hrs on, and all I can guess is he was so frickin' amped from A) crushing all the tech lines and B) the fans cheering him on and getting him more amped than he already was at that point. It still seems pretty surreal.
um, never give up a ride to watch a screen. especially when a race like this is available on stream to watch on-demand anytime. but it's true that this race is the best content on any screen anywhere today.
Whilst the mens race had more drama than a Jane Austen novel, manon stomped the womens fair and square. Well done and an awesome end to the season for her
Abstract: Mr. Atherton is the WC 2014, but seems to be so unappealing that many don't grant him the title...
Gee, man! laugh! put away those big dark glasses AND your exaggerated seriousness when s.o. interviews you! And don't look so pissed every time you have to move from the hot seat...
yeah, in his interview he said he won without a perfect ride, and gave props to Ratboy. If he only mentioned Sam Hill and how he has a Peaty shrine in his living room maybe then he'd finally get some more respect here. Gee did great today and deserves his place. That race was mad fun to watch. I just hope Ratboy crushes his physio, Steve Smith comes back to form and Sam Hill doesn't skip a beat. Add in Bruni's maturing of another year and next season is due to be even better!!!! THIS SPORT IS AWESOME
Just watched the replay on RBTV. What shit! What is the point of showing only part of 100+ riders runs! They showed each rider coming out of the gate then cut to the last 15 secs of the run! All the action was in the rock gardens and they kept missing them out. I appreciate the efforts of the lesser known riders and they deserve coverage but to miss out the likes of Peaty and other top riders is pathetic. I was totally frustrated throughout. Especially when Sam Hill went down ;(
That's the speed-trap. A designated section on the track where they clock the speed of the riders - usually a fast section, but now always with the UCI.
hell, if ya ask me, troy looked better on his old demo carbon that he was shreddin for the first half of the season than he does on his new ride.
gwin looked great on a yeti, looked un beatable on the trek, but looks completely average on his new ride. no zip, no railin turns, no plowing straights......
gwin can spin it how ever he wants, but he can't be happy.
he got beat by a rider with no chain on his bike, and............it was his old factory team too. the bike that took gwin to the top for 2 full seasons.
and why is eric carter spliting the big S scene after only one season?
Obviously, EC fears the return of Napalm...it's so obvious. We'll see how happy he is this off-season, I'm sure. Let's not forget how he joined up with the Big S.
The ONLY guys that didn't get beat by Unchained Mulally won medals.
lol.
ec feared palmer in dual slaloms thats for sure.
i hear ya with the few dudes that beat mulally, but...gwin is supposed to be one of those dudes.
all the training, and riding and whatnot won't help somebody that doesn't mesh with a certain bike design.
gwin has not been gwin since he left trek. he just does not look , ride or race the same.
Gwin has never won a Worlds title, even when he was "unbeatable" on a Trek. If you look at his run here at World Champs and his last WC run at Merible, he clearly took the wrong lines. He lost time because of his poor line choices- going wide when he should have stayed inside and just setting up for turns in awkward ways. His planning is for sure off but it's not disastrous. That you can relate that to how he feels on the bike is quite the leap.
I think each race is its own story. He won the wc season opener, granted on a modified enduro, but he was podium a few other times and looked fast, so maybe it's as simple as he's not used to the new bike yet? and is this the same as the sam hill curse when he went to S? also, honest question, i'm not sure what you mean by "let's not forget how (EC) joined up with the Big S"
Oh I get it. Yeah it is kind of an egg on face situation Gwin's got going on in terms of trek vs spesh. But c'mon did they expect him to win the wc every year for the next ten years? I guess they thought he'd be another nico
There will never be another Nico...not anytime soon, at least with the stacked field of riders we're currently spoiled with. Gwin was setting up to be the next best thing, but his struggles with Worlds thus far will end any comparisons between the two, IMHO.
Not the best ending for josh, but just like no one talks about gee winning val di sole, just sams crash on that left hander, in years to come people will always talk about the race where josh went so big his foot fell off (almost). Pretty epic day to be a british downhiller though.
Glad to hear his injuries are on the foot, not the ankle. He can more easily bounce back from a foot fracture than ankle injury. Let's hope it's a quick and thorough recovery!
Sam lost because he crashed. Gee won because he stayed upright. That's racing and Gee deserves every bit of it- he put down the fastest time, therefore he deserves it. Simple.
Brendan keeps doing what he did 5 years ago, JoshB, Ratty has learnt it takes ire than whips and no pedalling tracks, he's done the work where others have failed and it shows in the results, Brendan a top 20rider now, too much fun no effort, Josh work, fun balance and adjusted moved forward and its showing in his results, unfortunately ye had a brain explosion on that bridge and hucked for hero status and it cost him his first and amy e ever World Championship, hopefully not,but he only had to scrub whip that bridge and gold was his. Brendan would have been lucky to make the top 20, they're was still plenty of pedalling required in this track to get a great time and win, Neko, must have lost his brakes as well, suspension actually works better without a chain btw.
Seriously Maverick? At 17th in the world, he is an awesome rider. For any country other than GB, he would be on the Worlds team. GB is just super stacked with clearly most of the best riders in the world. Without question the hardest Worlds team to qualify for. Would he win? Probably not, but he has shown us that he can place 4th at Worlds and has multiple WC podiums. That he can still be 17th in the world shows that he works hard for it. Talent to be higher might be another thing.
I think Brendog got to the verge on which he has to decide whether to keep on riding DH professionally or to devote his time into another form of the discipline. Thruth to be said everyone expects Brendawg to perform lousy at the world cup circuit in order to follow his sorry asses complaints at instagram. Brendog was ment to be THE rider of a generation, instead he has evolved into some kind of hypster mountain biker whose greatest acomplishment is to whip and whine. I really fancied brendawg's style but he got stuck.
Yes obviously... Or not. We obviously failed to spot that Brycey was almost 2 seconds up on the second split did we? Even with smashing his ankle in he came across the line less than half a second behind the G man. Which tells me that Josh's run on a whole was better than G's as he was well on his way to beating him by more than 2 seconds. Anyway that aside you read into my statement far too seriously. I was merely pointing out that is how i would have liked it to finish. Either way it's good for me.
Gee is once again Champion of the world, and once again taking advantage of the mistake/ unlucky of the adversaries (Sam and Josh)! Congrats to the Champs!
You say that as if he doesn't deserve it. Part of racing is making sure you don't make mistakes. Ok he may not be the most exciting rider and I would have loved to see ratboy win but at the end of the day, Gee was fastest down the hill so why isn't he a deserving winner?
Its just 1 observation...settle down @el-nombre, don't need to Neg Prop!! But if i'm wrong...please correct me! It was a bit bummer to see Rat loosing it for 0.4 something has it was to see Sam loosing it at the time! Not Saying he(Gee) didn't deserve it! After all he was the fastest man cruising the line, and if i can recall the fastest Wins, Right!?? Congrats to Team GB!!
oh do one you trolls. He's one of the best in the world and one of the most consistent.. Theres no 'what if's' in racing, he fully deserved Gold.
Gwin hasn't won in a while probs while you are upset.....
stars and stripes don't decide who we all root for in the states. I pull for Gee and Rat, enjoy a good race, love that Hill is back on fire and don't give a fuck about some bible thumper not being as dominant as he used to be. But then there's Neko, the unchained hero!
I have to say I'm gutted Atherton won. That was a very hollow victory. It's only through Hills and Brycelands crashes that he won. I hope Bryce heels up soon.
Man Rat was so close!!! unfortunately Gee got i! Happy for him but would have liked to see anyone but him get the title lol. He is really skilled but carries such a prick, pretentious attitude compared to so many other riders... Makes it really hard to like and cheer for him No?
Never actually said he was... I just said from the media coverage I see of him he seems like this.
He's a great rider like I did say. Just not the kinna guy I would want to cheer for compared to other rider.
always gee wins when other riders crashes. Than the hole year is say's im the best i'm this bla bla.
Radboy or hill are the champions.
Big thumps for troy. 3rd!
surly thats the name of the game tho. you have to be fast and make it down the hill. which ever way you look at it gee was the fastest through the gate. sure sam and josh were really unlucky and i hope there both ok but they still fucked up, and thats why dh is so exciting. you never know whats gunna happen.
Fast and controlled is what wins races. Sam and Josh lost control and lost the race Gee managed to control his moment at the gap and still set a cracking time
Totally part of it - it's called "racing". The ones that fell made bigger mistakes than Gee, and he held his run together. Racers fall every race, and it's nothing new. Get over it - Gee deserved the win.
I thought Gee did well giving props to Josh and seamed to genuinely care for his welfare. I actually feel bad for Gee that he never gets to put down his best time with everyone else having a good run like Peaty did. I was gunning for them but, Josh and Sam should have known better and who knows if Neko would have won with a chain. What an amazing end to the season.
How taken back was Nigel after Hill's crash. He didn't seam to come back until Ratboy's run then that shit at the end. So bloody emotional whenever Gee Wins.
"last man down, josh Bryceland had a injury in the final 200 meters, fingers crossed hes ok, good effort from him for an amazing ride.....he's in a lot of pain right now, hopefully he's ok"
Think we all know who the cocky bastard is.... grow up man.
In the live feed Gee was the first guy over once Peaty and Greg laid him down on stage. The security guy eventually blocked everyone other than medics and syndicate it looks like. Ratboys injury was the first thing gee mentioned in multiple interviews also.

Whatch the movie Moneyball, in this case is baseball but the basics are the same.
"Josh Bryceland has been taken to hospital for surgery on his ankle. We wish him all the best on his recovery."

Either of these crashes would leave us mortals in a coffin.

gutted for him. Heal fast, Ratty.
Peaty and Greg taking him in arms was like a bible flash...
That make me cry really...
Josh=Jesus in MTB!
keep on with this true energy man! and heal soon !
Heal well josh!!
Fingers crossed he's ok?
Legend of the sport.
Put that aside..Gee will bang his head saying "hooow?" when he turn on replay and watch Hill ride
Could be upset that their countries did not perform.....
Not a gee/ratboy hater/fanboi, I think they are both great , just saying what I seen.

"last man down, josh Bryceland had a injury in the final 200 meters, fingers crossed hes ok, good effort from him for an amazing ride.....he's in a lot of pain right now, hopefully he's ok"
Think we all know who the cocky bastard is.... grow up man.
"Pissed seeing Gee win, he didn't even say anything about josh in his interview, he's a cocky bastard."
Gee was one of the first ones over to see Josh rather than cheering for this World champs win.
Idiot
I hope both recover 110% in the off-season - both were at the top of the game the latter-half of this season.
Neko was insane. Congrats to Gee, and it was so close for Ratboy. Heal up fast!

The amazing is to do both!!!!!
Congrats to ger
Pardal and Pombo: next season upgrade on teams?
Gee, man! laugh! put away those big dark glasses AND your exaggerated seriousness when s.o. interviews you!
And don't look so pissed every time you have to move from the hot seat...
Pauvre Sam Hill, j'ai eu mal en te voyant tomber…
hell, if ya ask me, troy looked better on his old demo carbon that he was shreddin for the first half of the season than he does on his new ride.
gwin looked great on a yeti, looked un beatable on the trek, but looks completely average on his new ride.
no zip, no railin turns, no plowing straights......
gwin can spin it how ever he wants, but he can't be happy.
he got beat by a rider with no chain on his bike, and............it was his old factory team too. the bike that took gwin to the top for 2 full seasons.
and why is eric carter spliting the big S scene after only one season?
he broke an agreement at the final hour with trek to do whats was best for him at the time.
would he do it again?
would he say 'later' to the big s?, give some cash back and go find a better ride?
james stewart did it with joe gibbs racing.........heres your bike, heres your cash, i'm out..........
i think it would the cats ass if gwin just rode for tld/redbull and hand picked whatever frames he wanted to.
Pretty epic day to be a british downhiller though.
Rat, get better and keep up the Speed and Flow!!
Gee is once again Champion of the world, and once again taking advantage of the mistake/ unlucky of the adversaries (Sam and Josh)! Congrats to the Champs!
1. Sam Hill
2. Josh Bryceland
3. Gee Atherton
What if Minnaar didn't crash, btw?
No?
