Merry Christmas from everyone at Pinkbike to all riders worldwide! How naughty or nice were you this year? Let's hear what new bike gear Santa brought you this year, because we all know that's all we asked for.
I'm jealous. I got nada. I'm currently overseas in a location that I can't disclose right now thousands of miles away from my wife and kids. So I'm sitting in my tiny little choo reading about all of you guys that get to ride your bikes.
@dbarnes6891 Thank you, truly appreciate your sacrifice for all of our benefit! I'm going to hobble out to my bike to go for a quick spin for you (I broke my heel 3 months ago & just started "walking" last week) right now.
@KyleSmith69: Yeah man I'm on the fence. I've got a bike I'm pretty happy with. At the very least I'm going to get new brakes and a dropper for it. Maybe a new bike. Not sure yet.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to all active and non active duty service men and women (Especially active). Thanks for keeping myself and my family safe.
@XCMark: Really dude? They're out there sacrificing to protect this country- including your sorry ass- and all you can do is tell them they should quit? Show some f*cking respect.
Been there brother.....actually last Christmas I was in your shoes. Keep ya head up......and on a swivel. Wish you safe travels back home. Merry Christmas!!
Military issue green folding bikes? I read an article about them, they're a hard tail, and they fold up really small for transport. You're getting the wrong end of the military stick.
@dbarnes6891 thank you so much for your service! You're doing a great duty for our country. My biggest regret is having not served. Tried to enlist twice. Blew my acl out first time and do to paperwork not getting done I was considered prior service and go figure they weren't taking prior service. Again I thank you for your service to our freedom!
Hey! I got a card from my daughter wishing me to become the best pro rider out there. Does that count?! ;-) She knows I like the sport, so this is very touching for me. Ive a very high standard to live up to now:-)
@therealtylerdurden: why don't you americans keep you political bs off pb. You people are the biggest threat to world security. Why don' t you do some research and figure out your government has been taken over and are USING YOU for their goals of a new world order. I'm so sick of you people and I'm so glad Trump has sent all the little snowflakes crying to their safespaces
@therealtylerdurden: No dude, they are out there doing the bidding of the people who want a NWO! You americans(the new communists of the planet)should do some research and keep the political crap off pink bike. Nothing but a bunch of people that want to tell everybody else what to do and I am sick of it. Why don't you fix your own country first before you destroy the rest of the world?
@makkman: You're not as enlightened as you think you are, dipshit. Our leader for the past 8 years may have had a lot of commie tendencies, but he does not define this country as a whole. You assuming he does is no better than dumbf*cks booing servicemen when they return home overseas because you disagree with the war, rioting against police doing their job because ONE officer made a mistake or the media portrayed a rightful action as a wrongful one, or being racist because of the actions of a very few. In short, go f*ck yourself.
@makkman: by the way, you bitching out troops online is no better than booing them at an airport when they get home- and quite frankly, you're booing on the wrong f*cking doorstep. If you feel the need to whine and cry, do it at the White House.
@therealtylerdurden: typical response from a liberal, nothing intelligent just profanity. I must of upset you so thanks for making my point. Now go find your safe place and cuddle your favourite teddy!
@therealtylerdurden: "They're out there sacrificing to protect this country"
You wish is was about protecting us. You get nothing, 0, from weapons contracts and weapons sales, but you will pay for the cleanup effort that our CIA and FBI get us into.
@WAKIdesigns: nah, she's a kind soul, she gets it. I only need MTB related shit and she's well aware of it so she just crosses off things from my wish list
@kopaczus: my wife gets my biking but if she bought me a whole bike I would be extremely cautious. It would mean that she came up with some elaborated scheme how to make me suffer...
@truffy: yes. The standard ones: X got broken I need a new one. Actually honey I got this frame 50% off and I sold all my old parts so I didn't spend a penny. I got this for test from my buddies workshop. I bought this fork for 600$ but I will sell mine for at least 400 ( new one costed 800$ and never sold the old one. In case)
@balfa2steprider: I had a Balfa 2step DH, I hadn't thought about that bike for years till I saw your user name. I sold it years ago and really regret it, probably my favorite DH bike I have owned.
@balfa2steprider: That in and lb itself is primarily my life's goal, and if my wife were not on board, and we did not currently reside in a toy hauler, I would be right there as well, really. Lol
I had some f#"k slam into me on the ski area, completely rupture my quadriceps tendon. Proceed to hit me with his ski pole and flee the scene. All in front of my 10 year old daughter. Out for six months and can't work. Merry xmas
I feel for you buddy. I'm six months post surgery for the same thing. The bad news: you're more than 6 months from totally recovery, probably closer to 9-12. The good news: you're about a month from getting started on your rehab and 12 weeks from pushing yourself hard. Not gonna lie to you, the first 2 months suck ass, but if things go well and you work at it you'll be on a road bike by spring and some light duty mtn bike by late summer. chin up and good luck!
Ruthless bro. Hope you heel well horrible bastard doing that in front your kid. Would love you to recognise him when healed and return the favour. Get well soon buddy
@pigit77: road/ski rage shit. Cut me off when I tried to pass him. I said "what the f*ck is that buddy?!". Passed him again. He poles and skate skied after me. (I didn't know it, my kid watched this). Was trying to slap me with a pole when I turned. Slammed into me, ski slammed into my quad and felt my leg rip in half. Smacked me with his pole while I was screaming in pain, called me a jerk, and rallied to the closest chair. Still a chance to get him with pass/RF chip data. Be kind to someone random this Xmas season for me
@ninjatasic: wow, some people are truly mind bogeling. He doesn't belong on any ski slope as far as I'm concerned. I hope they find him, and I wish you the best with you recovery!
Got my stolen bike back just less than a week before Christmas. That was awesome, plan to use some Christmas money on the bike. Needs repair and some minor customization.
My girlfriend left, took the kids and moved out, my recovery from surgery is well on its way, and what is this? My post surgery doped up self built a new 6" trail bike from ground up and completely upgraded hardtail. Great success, now I have time to ride this bike
I bought myself a Kona process 153. Goes beautifully with my honzo St ???? first FS bike ever and it's taking a bit to get used to! Just like its taking wifely a bit to get used to my biking fetish at the moment after 16 years of bikes. O well, she'll get used to it! Merry Xmas all!
Every year I get socks and this year was no different..... kind of. I opened a gift and it looked like regular old cycling socks but my girlfriend had a different look on her face and told me to read them. From the side I could see they read smith and I was like " thanks for the smith eyewear socks" when I opened the package they were Stevie legacy socks and I fully came undone. First Christmas I've ever cried, and at 34 none the less. I'll Never forget it. I also got a bunch of other material crap but who cares really after that.
Excellent! Please report back to us on how the conversion works. Wouldn't it be Yari to a Pike though? Honest question, cause I thought Lyric was slightly different?
@JDFF: Just finished my first ride on the converted yari, quite a big difference. Off the top, it feels much more supple, and it is quite a bit better at handling minor trail chatter. Quite happy with how it feels, always going to run a Yari converted to Pike/ Lyric
@dougiemacfarlane: I emailed a few different guys to see if anyone was interested in helping me out to but nobody got back to me. I've got a @ragley-bikes frame which I picked up because I found it cheap on CRC.
@dougiemacfarlane: owned and ridden loads, most fun: commencal steel frames. Not expensive. Look ace & are designed around fun. Much more playful than others. Also the rear ends being almost unbraced are rather forgiving, so you can chuck it off things like a full sus bike without so much ankle woe! I'm on my second and wouldn't swap it for anything.
I must have been good. XT 11spd setup, xcp post, swat storage box, big bore air tool, bottle cage, and a nifty bar mount phone holder. Wife got herself a phone holder also and I got her a rear rack, bag, and post binder to mount the rack. We go the 12y/o got a ambush helmet.
Nice new set of bike tools! It amazing what you can do with a pocket multitool, but also amazing all the things you can't do. I have feeling the LBS was getting a little tired of me borrowing their stuff, on daily basis it seems like. Time to set up my own little basement shop!
The only bike-related stuff that I got were a pair of Giro Jackets, cycle socks, wet/dry chain lube, and chain cleaner. But that's all stuff that I needed, so all's good. Oh, and a mug.
Plus, I got permission to buy a cycle trainer for the off-season, and tactic agreement for a new bike next year, so I'm happy.
For anyone curious as to how a mug can be bike related, it says "I may look like I'm listening to you, but in my mind I'm riding my bike". From my wife. At least she's realistic.
An orange Evil The Following with Shimano Di2 and DVO Diamond Fork. I bought the frame in June, but it took a while to collect all the components. That it was ready on Christmas Day was kind of a coincidence, but I'm glad the wait is over.
It's honestly too much trouble to explain the intricacies of what bike parts and gear I want to non-riding family members. They mean well, but rarely get the details right (and who can blame them). I'm perfectly capable of buying that stuff on my own, so I let Christmas be a surprise. It's more fun that way.
A Calandar featuring Wild Horses of Sand Wash Basin. This is the perfect mountain bike gift for me this season. I have been pioneering routes using the moto trails, atv routes and wild horse game trails for good times on a mountain bike. I'll mark the days and routes as I continue to learn the zone this season. Over thousands of acres and hundreds of miles, I've never seen another bike track out there yet that I didn't leave on my own. Soon I'll post my best routes on Trailforks.
@cunning-linguist: that would be jimmy saville wouldn't it? I'm sure Santa carefully places presents, before scoffing mince pies, then flys away on his magical sleigh.
@cunning-linguist: don't get me started. Dare I mention the BBC biggest paedophile ring yet or dare I mention 'Hampstead heath satanic cult' google them very words or YouTube it if video evidence is more damning. here's me thinking pinkbike was a light hearted biker forum, we've both clearly strayed off the beaten track
Crankbrother mallet E's, camelbak skyline pack, IDP7 transition knee pads, and Royal bibs and socks.
Now all I need is for my Carbon Warden to sell on PB.
Merry Christmas everyone!!
I got a 4 day mountain biking vacation with my son. We live near Tampa Fl and for Christmas we went to Miami/Ft Lauderdale and spent 4 days riding Virginia Key and Markham Park. One of the best Christmas's ever!!!
Look at it as an opportunity to Santa shop for yourself. Santa brought me my demo 8 in July! My wife said Santa doesn't bring presents in July. She doesn't know anything.
@nyhc00: I love it! I came from a hardtail so it's been a rough transition, but I'm getting used to the handling and geo. I think if you have a Tracer, then it will probably feel familiar!
happy holidays to everyone out there, especially all our military. stay safe and get your asses back as soon as possiable. .....on the other note, My girlfriend and son got me a new chainsaw and yeti cooler for hannaukhha/christmas. because they are badass, and im not a pussy.
Tools......almost have a complete set for working on any / all bikes and, no, I am not a pro bike mechanic......but really love my new air compressor.....
I got myself a highline dropper. We're doing secret Santa in my family recently, so not too many bike related gifts recently. But some Asian chilli sauce, love that stuff!
Got to go shred some trails with the wife. What could ever be better than that. She is my best riding buddy ever. I also cant drop her on a ride any more.
I GOT ME A NEW COMMIE SUPREME V3 PARK FRAME!!!!! 26 FO LIFE BRO
YOOOP!!!
an some new knee pads
an some new body armor
an a smoothie maker
an some socks
Well, none of my family is going to spend on bike parts for me, so I bought an new 2016 red NS Clash and new 2014 FOX Talas 34, for $638. FOX is shipping me the Fit4 damper for $90 as I write this!
I will build a high specd bike for less than a grand! Watch me now...
@properp: It depends, I only had that ass one in a figurative sense, it quite describes my life ... But if your a*shole bleeds for real then my condolence it's a hard one be strong. Anyway having a disability to ride for Christmas sucks in anyway...
(Especially active).
Thanks for keeping myself and my family safe.
@dbarnes6891: thank you for your service, we are all rooting for your safe return home

Well said friend
You wish is was about protecting us. You get nothing, 0, from weapons contracts and weapons sales, but you will pay for the cleanup effort that our CIA and FBI get us into.
Hopefully it's yours
I had a Balfa 2step DH, I hadn't thought about that bike for years till I saw your user name. I sold it years ago and really regret it, probably my favorite DH bike I have owned.
