On October 5th, Diablo Freeride Park will play host to the final round of the 2008 Domination Race Series. Offering over $50,000 in cash and prizes, the 5-event Domination Series has been a racing haven for top east coast competitors.

While wandering the Outdoor Demo we spotted an oasis of shade and beer at the Hayes tent, and while under that tent we also spotted a new big-power brake from the Hayes boy's. The Stroker Ace is a Four piston brake for those of you looking for even more power. The same riders interested in the Ace's may want to check out Sun-Ringle's ADD Lite wheelet, a tough and light set of wheels that can lighten up your overweight bike!

The Wolf Ridge 6.8 is part of their Quad Trail series of All Mountain machines with 140mm of rear travel. We ran into Shaums March and had a chat about the Wolf Ridge 6.8 and his experience with all the Quad Link bikes from Marin.

Trek had a massive presence at the Outdoor Demo, not only with some big tents and a vending machine but also a huge number of demo bikes for the curious to try. By the looks of the lineup the 6" travel Remedy was by far the most sought after, and for good reason: the mid-travel platforms seem to be everyone's cup of tea lately. We pulled some strings and bypassed the line to get ourselves a closer look at their top end rig, the Remedy 9.

On the weekend of Sept 13th and 14th at Mt Hood Ski Bowl, a memorial DH and Dual Slalom was held in the honor of Scotty Graham. This event marked the 5th Fluidride Race of the season and it was a true spectacle of NW racing. A vintage Dual Slalom kicked off Sat afternoon after 5 hours of DH practice and it was a true head to head duel. Riders were pushing limits with 2 wheel drifts, hammering pedal strokes all the way to the finish line. When the hot sun rose early Sunday morning, the lot was stirring with racers and eager fans arrived excited to see how the overall points chase would unfold after battling Mt Hood Ski Bowls 'Famous' DH course.

Canada Olympic Park is proud to announce that our Mountain Bike Downhill Races are returning this fall, featuring our brand new downhill course. The new course offers riders of all abilities a fun and challenging race environment where speed and technique will come into play. To go along with these popular events we’ve also added a Dirt Jump Jam on the morning of race days sure to bring out some big air, gnarly tricks and lots of fun.

Following the success of last years night race in Edinburgh in Scotland we can now confirm this years race will take place in Scarborough on Saturday the 4th of October and is now a UCI C2 race.

This will be the third street race from the office of Chris Roberts who organizes the British NPS 4X series.

The first ever RDS Invitational was held last Friday, September 5th, in Whistler BC. With only 16 guys and 3 girls racing, it was a small group of mostly locals out to pin it down one of the funnest and gnarliest trails I’ve ever raced on. I was told it would be like a mini Psychosis. Well, if you’re comparing a race to Psychosis, you know you’re in for an exciting time! And it did not disappoint…

In return we sent over Paul Aston to Peter Schmid of Solid Bikes in Germany. This is what he rides: A Solid Mission 9. Just don't mention the war!

Powers Creek has it all - short, fast, flowy, first class freeride trails, longer mixed trails and some epic all-mountain riding. Heck, there are some trails out there that few people even know about.

Calling all MTBco'ers - come and give back to the trails with a little volunteer time. You know your next ride will be so much better if you show your Powers Creek trail love.

Easton is known for making everything from hockey sticks to tubing for frame sets, so when they stepped into the world of wheels, we were stoked to see what they had. Recently we got a pair of the Havoc wheels, so here's a quick overview on them.

Minnaar, Bryceland and Syndicate Shotgun the UCI titles.

The Santa Cruz Syndicate bagged all the titles they chased this year in Schladming, Austria at the Nissan UCI World Cup Series finale. It was a tight points race and Greg Minnaar proved his dominance in this series winning three of the seven events and by placing fifth today he clinched the title, his third series overall win of his career in the elite men’s downhill. Josh Bryceland sat out the final race with a broken collarbone but still had enough points to retain his hold on the junior overall title. And a collective effort by the Syndicate members this season paid off with the top downhill team champion’s crystal trophy going home in the hands of the Syndicate’s fearless leader, Rob Roskopp thus capping off a magic year.

The Whiteface Fall Classic Cross Country Mountain Bike Race, presented by High Peaks Cyclery, hits the trails of Whiteface Mountain on September 20 at noon. The Fall Classic has four divisions broken down by age and gender: beginner, sport, expert and pro. It is a challenging race featuring a lower mountain layout with a climb of 650 feet as well as fast, fun downhill sections.

Immediately following an 8th place finish in the Jeep 48 Straight Dual Slalom event (to air on prime time TV soon) I headed out for the Masters Worlds in France.

Last weekend, The Intermontane Challenge attracted people from all over North America to preview a part of one of the world’s most unique and lucrative mountain bike races. Some of the City’s dignitaries were also on hand to celebrate Kamloops introducing this world class event to the community.

Americans Cody Warren & Kathy Pruitt to Face Stiff International Competition While Defending Titles at Second Leg of Jeep 48STRAIGHT on Sept. 19-20 in Park City, Utah

PARK CITY, Utah – Heading into the first race of the Jeep 48STRAIGHT Mountain Bike Series last month in New Jersey, one would have been hard pressed to pick fellow Californians Cody Warren and Kathy Pruitt as favorites to bring home a title. After taking down one renowned racer after another to earn the win and a share of the $100,000-plus cash purse, the pair will no longer have the element of surprise on their side heading into the second leg of the series, taking place Sept. 19-20 at The Canyons in Park City, Utah.

Three Dutch riders were asked to give a dirt demo during the 6/24 hour mtb race at the baggelhuizerplassen (That’s in Assen in province Drenthe, The Netherlands). It was the best thing!

Leana Gerrard is from the Pacific North West and grew up cutting her teeth on the BMX and then MTB race circuits. She specializes in gate racing but loves the DH side just as much. Recently Leana's season came to a halt after a big off in New York, but that hasn't stopped her from being stoked and looking forward to next season. I had a chance to sit down with her and her custom set up Cannondale Rize that she races for 4X and Dual.

Next weekend will see Round 5 of the Monster Energy and Hanford’s Bike Hut NPS Downhill change venue from Carlton Bank to Innerliethen in Scotland on Saturday and Sunday the 21st of September 2008.

Ben Reid headed home after attending Crankworx for a few weeks in Whistler BC. With a 2 week break on his hands before the last World Cup DH event, he decided to do something special with his trusty Ironhorse Sunday and give it a custom paint job.

This is our second and last stop in Quebec for 2008. It's a great chance to get out for the last race of the season.

The Fluidride Cup DH Gravity Series is ready for DH racers and Dual Slalom racers Sept 13th and 14th at Mt Hood Ski Bowl in Government Camp Oregon.

The recent work parties have installed a sweet new Dual Slalom Track and the DH Track is as demanding as ever...who's ready to race?

Whilst away at Eurobike, Nigel's house was broken into while his mum was asleep (she has Alzheimers). They then stole his van keys, then stole his van and all of his bikes from the garage.

I've seen some tools in my time, I've even had to work with a few of them and still do today and I'll tell you now, some of them are as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

MTBco members completed maintenance work on Gillard, cleared most of the 2007 blowdown, and removed tons of garbage in 2008. The Bikepark Leogang will host two international mountain bike competitions from September 19th to 21st. The 26TRIX dirt jump contest will unite 50 riders from 15 countries to battle for a prize money fund of 8.000 euros. And the last tour stop of the iXS European Downhill Cup 2008 will showcase pure racing action.

This is not old news. It’s just a bit late.

We all know that Sam Hill won the DH at Bromont, but because I’m sure not all of you have been to a World Cup I thought I’d share my impressions of what it’s like from behind the lens. If you don’t want to read it, just look at the photos. Either way, please enjoy!

Scratchmere Scar is a brand new extreme mountain biking center situated in the north of England, in Cumbria. It has been running for nearly 6 months, and it has uplifts running every weekend. It offers a choice of 3 DH tracks currently, and it is evolving all the time. As you read this there will be someone there building at the moment, 4x, Freeride, Foam Pit, Dirt Jumps,a Slopestyle Park and XC are all planned and all it needs is some helpers to make this dream into a reality.

The Rockstars are on ice, the dirt jumps have been sculpted, and Jordie Lunn now has the perfect backhawk (don't ask!).....we're now ready for the Rockstar Jump Jam on Sunday, September 7th. Registration starts at 1:00pm in front of the Alpine Lodge and the comp begins promptly at 2:00pm. This jam is gender friendly so head on up to Mount Washington boys and girls, there's categories for everyone! There's also a trailer-load of shwag for everybody as well, plus we have a super-dope Norco 4Hun up for grabs. Werd up Norco!

Red Bull Rampage features the world's greatest riders tackling the most intense terrain any contest has offered – no novices here. The same applies for spectators; this event is not for casual observers. The new Red Bull Rampage venue was chosen for its ability to challenge the riders and push their limits, so it is remote, hot, dangerous, and unforgiving.

After getting under sold by Shawn, the head Diabro of the Diablo Freeride Park, we shortened our trip before we even got to New Jersey. FOOLS! Diablo was so much fun we all wished we had added another week at least, to our tickets. Here's the story of Brent Floyd, Wendy Robinson, Gareth Dyer, Jeff Young and the The Camp of Champions doing our first bike camp outside of the Whistler Bike Park.

Red Bull Rampage, the premier freeride mountain biking competition, held annually from 2001 to 2004, is blasting back onto the scene in 2008, bigger and badder than ever before. From October 2-5, Red Bull Rampage: The Evolution will draw the greatest riders in the world to a new venue just outside Virgin, Utah, offering the most challenging terrain mountain bike competition has ever seen.

Santa Cruz Syndicate’s Greg Minnaar and Nathan Rennie top the podium in Canberra, Australia to the cheers of thousands of enthusiastic Aussie fans and Minnaar regains his lead in the UCI World Cup Downhill Series. It was an action packed day for the Syndicate as Minnaar, Peat and Rennie swept the semi-finals in number 1,2,3 positions, and the final was nearly the same but for a gust of wind blew Peat as he jumped into the finish stretch causing him to loose his speed and he placed 7th on this blustery, stormy day.
