The 2022 downhill World Champs provided some incredible racing in Les Gets. In the Junior racing Jenna Hastings and Jordan Williams came out on top and will take home the rainbow jerseys. The final riders in both races crashed out during their runs with Izabela Yankova not finishing and Jackson Goldstone coming 14th.

Vali Höll has become the first Austrian downhill World Champion after an incredible run put her just under a second ahead of Nina Hoffmann. Myriam Nicole couldn't take the win on home soil but still mages to secure the bronze medal. Despite only recently having surgery Camille Balanche crossed the line in fourth place.

Five times World Champion Loic Bruni reigned supreme in Les Gets as he dominated the Elite Men's field. Loic is World Champion once again as he now holds the second highest number of Elite Male titles and is only the fourth rider to have ever won the rainbow jersey on home soil. The French didn't just take the gold as Amaury Pierron took the silver and Loris Vergier secured the bronze medal.

Check out the results below.

7:12 am PDT It's two USA riders in the top three as Dakotah Norton flies into 2nd, just 0.102 back.

7:18 am PDT Thibaut Daprela's run was amazing to watch but it wasn't fast and he goes into ninth place.

7:22 am PDT Bernard Kerr won't be matching teammate Jenna Hastings' win as he ends his run in sixth.

7:24 am PDT A crash for Angel Suarez, he is moving slowly but it looks like a big one.

7:56 am PDT Fastest qualifier Benoit Coulanges is nearly five seconds back in eighth place.

7:59 am PDT Loris Vergier is over three seconds back, but amazingly this is still 2nd place.

8:01 am PDT Finn Iles has not started his race run, we heard that he had a big crash in practice. This does mean that we will get a French winner today.

8:03 am PDT Will Loic Bruni become a five-time World Champion? How wild will the crowd be if we get a French top three? All we do know is this will be an absolutely wild run from Amaury Pierron.

8:06 am PDT Amaury Pierron goes 2nd by two and a half seconds.

8:06 am PDT Loic Bruni takes his fifth World Champ title and becomes only the fourth rider to win on home soil.

Also, you can watch the replay of the women's race right now on his channel. Search for "World Championships 2022 Womens Elite | Les Gets" in the Youtube search box.

Dear discovery… if you want to win our hearts and minds next year.. find a way to stream the entire course. That way we will know what Bruni did between split 1 and 2
  • 7 3
The races would take forever, though.
  • 16 0
Can’t stream full runs live because multiple riders are on course at the same time. More cameras covering more of the course would be nice though as they could them at least go back and look at a replay if something happens.
  • 8 0
@FuzzyL: personally i think full or almost full runs for the top 5 or 10 would be nice, bit i do agree that showing full runs for the whole field would take too long
  • 6 1
@sino428: It can be done, just split the screen. Show the bottom part of the course, as is shown presently, on the main screen and show the PIP with the rider that has just started. Or two PIPs if necessary.
  • 2 0
@sino428: Not quite true the gaps for the last few Male elites were longer than their runs so there was actually enough time to show a full run.
  • 2 1
Isn't that part of the plan, and heavily protested by both comment section and riders? Because of course it would take too long and the solution is to limit the field to 30 riders...
  • 1 0
 ..
  • 2 1
@sino428: the last riders always have the course to themselves.
  • 1 1
Quite simple, it would be enough to just skip the daddy-drone segment and show something interesting instead. WTF was that anyway??
  • 38 0
The fight between Jackson and Jordan has been brilliant all year. The juniors deserve more coverage.
  • 2 0
That time also was high up there top 5 elite qualy times. Beasts these 2 overall.
  • 4 0
@Tambo: to be fair they are often head and shoulders above the rest in the junior field. Yes, lots of fast juniors in there. But Jackson and Jordan are on a diff level.
  • 4 0
@wilsonians: There's years when the juniors are kinda crap - when Vali Holl or Deprela were blowing away the rest of the field winning by huge margins it wasn't worth watching. This year with such a close rivalry it's been good racing
  • 8 0
@tom666: It could be exciting next year when Cruz and Kuhn are going Canada vs. Canada in Juniors.
  • 1 0
@Bibico: @Bibico: Where has Cruz been? Is he injured?
  • 37 0
Downhill is in a good place. Don’t f this up discovery
  • 17 1
They already have by not signing Rob! I watched on Flosports and it was pretty lame commentary without him.
  • 5 0
@flash5000: DH seems to be an afterthought for flosports. I think they just end up with the DH world champs because it’s included in the package. Hopefully discovery will put a little more thought into their coverage since they are essentially running the entire World Cup now.
  • 1 0
@flash5000: The commentary on NZ sky was poor, it was like listening to someone who had no idea about Bikes at all. no excitement or anything.
  • 1 0
@EvolutionMTBer: did you get to see the mens? I can’t find a replay on sky sport now…it’s not listed in channel history ffs
  • 2 0
@coney: just use Privado VPN and its only free connection is mexico but works great and i watched redbull coverage but i did watch a bit on SKY while i got my coffee ready at 1am lol it was horrid.
  • 2 0
@flash5000: I've watched downhill on Eurosport/GCN. The commentary was not too bad but noone would match Rob with Tracey and Claudio.
  • 7 0
@flash5000: Rob is under contract with RB. Discovery can't just sign him if RB doesn't want to.
  • 2 0
 God bless you mate
  • 2 0
You are a saint my friend.
  • 2 0

  • 2 0

  • 3 0
You are a great human being!!!
  • 2 0
 Thank you!
  • 3 0
Thanks! Worked perfect for me here in the states. What’s the point of geoblocking on Redull if it’s available here?!
  • 3 0
@BiNARYBiKE: Oh but they did my friend!!! They cut my stream just as Greenland was about to cross the line and then BOOM, no more live stream for me. SUCKED!!!
  • 2 0
 Worked perfect. Thanks mate
  • 2 0
Huge thanks, worked perfectly. Fantastic camera coverage,to!
  • 1 0
@nug12182: for real? I watched the whole thing on the UCI site, no VPN or anything.
  • 1 0
Cheers, only got to watch live because of you
  • 28 0
 Noooo, Finn! Hope he's okay
  • 5 0
Any one heard any news? Hope he's alright?
  • 1 0
@Raisadaruppe: I have been looking for why he DNSed and could find the reason, I’ll update here if I find anything.
  • 3 0
@Obiwankenoob: He crashed hard in practice
  • 5 0
@Obiwankenoob: Rob Warner said he smashed his helmet up in the crash so one would expect a heavy hit on his noggin and the lad is concussed at the very least. With radio silence since the incident I would think it highly unlikely that he's only chipped a finger nail. Wouldn't be surprised if he is a no show at Val di Sole
  • 10 0
Man the radio silence 24h later is really starting to get me worried...
  • 1 0
Considering he already had a concussion earlier this year, it could re-trigger pretty easily. Not that smashing your helmet is "pretty easily". If he's smart, he'll sit out the next race too, which is tough because he was doing so good in the standings.
  • 1 0
 Thanks guys!
  • 23 0
yay for jenna, Shes been great this year. Good on ya Kiwi.
  • 22 0
 F*CK YES JENNA
  • 20 0
 WTF BRUNI
  • 6 2
I wonder how he managed to save these 2 seconds at the 2nd split. It's as if he took like a short cut.
  • 9 0
@granjak: rumors are he went under the lake straigh into the gates of hell Wink
  • 19 0
 French 1 - 2 - 3 on French soil! Sacre Bleu!
  • 4 0
That's the way we like it. Cheers man!
  • 19 0
 Pressure’s on BK now!
  • 17 0
So pleased for Jenna and Pivot, what a result!
  • 15 0
Too bad we didn't see where Loic made up that time between split 1 and 2...
  • 13 0
Of all the races of the year, why isn’t this the one they broadcast the juniors live!!! Would love to watch the juniors absolutely kill it.
  • 15 0
 Woohoo Remy, great stuff! Congratulations.
  • 14 0
They need to tear down those last jumps and start over next year. They clearly suck.
  • 13 0
Bernard's not even the fastest Kerr on the day, what a result for Henry
  • 11 0
French 1,2,3? Absolutely unreal. Super Bruni is the World Champion specialist. What a run. His bike set up looked like it was on another level.
  • 2 0
Glimpsed some huge plates around BB in broadcast. Is he on the new bike or still running previous model?
  • 5 0
@miguelcurto: Still on the old one...
  • 3 0
@Arev: that's..... impressive. Not taking anything from Finn but if it helped him so much maybe it can fire up Bruni next year
  • 12 0
 4 SECONDS UP ?!
That's crazy, Loic is an alien
  • 12 0
Super Bruni does it again. World champs specialist. Wow.
  • 9 0
Was Bruni running some electronic suspension? I could've sworn I saw a green light on the left side of his bars a couple times during his run, but, admittedly, my stream had the resolution of a Lite-Brite...
  • 4 0
I have seen it before. I think it firms up the suspension at the click of a button. He has been running that for a while
  • 1 0
Yes, the green light on left side of handlebar is visible after 3rd timing split. Interesting tech.
  • 11 1
so close. We allmost had a germen champion :-(.
But first german wc medal in mtb downhill :-)
  • 7 1
Congrats to Nina and hats off to Vali!
  • 6 0
yeah, Nina was (and is still) my favorite one among the others. She did a great run, I'm super proud of her. Her time will come, don't worry Wink
  • 1 0
On a related note, Nina is really coming into her own this year on the Syndicate. Amazing what full factory support can do, SC honestly should've signed her earlier
  • 12 1
Painful hearing Tahnee drone on whilst Louise is nailing her run to 9th
  • 11 1
Close Aimi, next year a medal!!
  • 9 0
 Jordan world champ yew!!!
  • 9 0
Just to Rob it in further - we’ll miss you dearly, Warner!
  • 5 0
Spanish TV commentator (on public TV broadcast, only through internet, as LaVuelta was on every TV channel) called the final jumps "Mounds"!! I knew it was going to be terrible, when he said he didn't know where some female rider (with her whole suit was brown in dirt) lost so much time, but then BOOM! "The rider is avoiding the mounds"!! (The actual word was "montículos", for those of you who might speak the language).
  • 1 0
The one in Eurosport wasn't any better. I switched from Spanish to English audio and it was OK. I reckon it was Ric and Ruaridh from EWS. Not Rob but it didn't suck at least.
  • 1 0
Well... From what I read it was Ric McLaughlin and Reece Wilson.
  • 1 0
Plus he spoiled the women's result before the feed on the womens was even available. Terrible braodcast.
  • 8 1
Men outside top 40 guys are not able to clear the last jumps. In a rainy day nobody would have cleared them. Maybe a bit badly designed jumps.
  • 6 0
 There was a headwind
  • 10 2
Awesome for jordan! Guy definitely deserves a title this year!

  • 3 0
 @evantfulrides: cry some more
  • 10 1
@evantfulrides: which is why it's cool that Jordan is the World Champ. They both have been so impressive this year.
  • 5 0
Shame we didn't get to see Louise 9th place world championship run because we were listening to Tahnee talking about not racing. Could have put her in a small box up in the corner, thanks Redbull
  • 7 0
 What happened to Izabela?
  • 1 0
 Same question
  • 1 0
Thought it was qualifying so just rolled the gate...........

Not actually sure? Someone trackside maybe could tell us!
  • 3 1
Yeah, same question. I saw she did 0:28 first split on the live timing and then apparently she had a hugie somewhere between splits 1 and 2 but didn’t saw anything on Instagram. Heartbroken for her, actually no one improved her qualifying 4:14 Frown Congrats to Jenna anyway
  • 7 1
Really enjoying Vali Holl's consistency after she struggled at the start of the season, a deserved win without a doubt!
  • 3 0
Well done to frenchies. Totally deserved. On another level. I do love that place. Unfortunately I had to watch the race on BBC iplayer here in the uk. Commentary was shocking. Gonna miss you Mr Warner. Let’s hope a deal can be struck to keep us all from going mad for next season xx
  • 2 0
@Yoda2376 Watch mountain biking on the BBC? Why on earth would you do that to yourself when you had two much better options to choose from? Redbull was streaming free and unrestricted to the UK like normal and GCN+ had coverage as well.
  • 1 0
Free VPN, it's absolutely worth it. I want to visit that bike park so badly, looks amazing.
  • 2 0
@wingguy: for some reason red bull tv on sky told me it was unavailable. I’m gutted. Andrew Neathling maybe a good rider but he is a shit commentator
  • 1 0
@Yoda2376: Just watch it straight from the redbull tv app, if you’re still interested in the XCO today.
  • 3 0
Awesome race, terrible commentary. In Oz we had Andrew Neethling was was ok, but the “main” commenter, the British guy, some ring in who knows nothing DH and came across as condescend and arrogant was cringeworthy. (Reminds me of the Olympics rock climbing commentator, might have been the same guy!)

He said Camille Balanche was Canadian, as she was wearing red and used to play hockey! You should really know here the top ranked woman comes from.

Lesson for Discovery on what not to do.
  • 6 0
 Yeahhhhh Janaynay!!!!
Where’s all the free stream links at?

@ollinist: working fine on my phone and Mac but saying geo restricted on my TV?

Need POV video comparison on where did Super Bruni get those 4 seconds specially in Split 2. The guy is so amazing.
  • 1 0
Sadly, he never posts POV of his winning runs. I don't even know if he's wearing a gopro on his race runs actually.
  • 5 0
 @Cifer: Maybe that's why he's fast Razz
  • 1 0
 @Cifer: personal use? Contractual obligation?
  • 2 0
 @somebody-else: Less wind resistance Wink
  • 6 0
Classic! Way to go Jenna! I'm loving the Pivot program.
  • 4 1
Maybe I missed it if it's been mentioned: Is that the first time the 3 podium spots were riders from a single country?
Amazing as that is, the fact that they're all from the host country is pretty remarkable as well.
  • 4 0
Warner said it happened in 1990 with 3 Americans on the podium
  • 6 0
 @Cifer: 2014 with 3x Brits on the women’s podium (Atherton, Manon & Tahnee)…
  • 1 0
Women's elite now on, Here in UK we have both RedBull and GCN TV coverage of the Downhill. Warner and Hannah on Red Bull and Rick McLaughlin and Reece Wilson on GCN -this bye the way your commentary Team for World Cups for next Year on GCN!

 It's also on BBC website/iPlayer...
  • 14 0
Reece will do well to commentate while riding!
  • 6 0
@thingswelike: He did the co commentary on Hardline last year - and was pretty good. Offered a lot of good insight.....
  • 6 0
You better be wrong about Ric getting the WC DH commentary job Frown
  • 1 0
 @chakaping: He's their boy
  • 1 0
@thingswelike: Maybe Discovery will offer him a financial incentive to retire at the end of this season?
  • 1 0
@chakaping: who else is there given he is already a Discovery/GCN in-house resource to provide commentary for both Downhill,Enduro and XC next year?
  • 5 0
@chakaping: lovely guy but no emotion whatsoever. Puts you to sleep.
  • 5 1

  • 2 0
Crashed according to my lad who's higher up
  • 2 1
@weeksy59: was back on the splits at the time
  • 4 0
Looks like he crashed twice according to the syndicate instagram page. Was 0.6 back at the next split after the first crash according to their page, but slid out again later in the run.
  • 2 0
Gutted for Jackson but get on Jordan Williams and brilliant for Jenna, seen here grow on LSD has been mint well deserved

@j7mb: That is working for me. Ta.
  • 1 0
@kcw72: Try not to put your eggs in any SBS TV baskets. Renowned for screwing up mtb coverage. SBS is such a weird tv station, they love road cycling. But absolutely hate the demographic of Australian’s that’s interested in it.

  • 1 0
Does Pierron wins overall though ? Can't find overall full results...
  • 2 0
 1 point to grab !
  • 5 0
He just has to score 1 point in Val Di Sole to win it. So unless something catastrophic happens, he's pretty much secured it.
  • 4 2
 Wrong race. Thats next week.
  • 2 0
@flash5000: And yes, these were the World Championships, end of the World Cup next week !
  • 1 0
@Drims: In other words, if he qualifies top 20 he wins. Even if he messes that up, he is protected so he just needs to finish a race run to get that one point and win. And even if he doesn't do any of that, Finn would need a perfect weekend of winning qualies and finals to dethrone Pierron. AND Finn just had to sit out this race for injury. We are pretty much the definition of "all but guarenteed"
  • 1 0
@IsaacWislon82: No point for qualy at the last race, only for racing (250 for 1st, 200 for 2nd...)

Live feed was on FloBikes since they hold the rights for World Championships this year
  • 12 14
Yeah, great work Red Bull: not filming any of the important key sections. Next year you´ll be back to what you do best: selling poison to kids.
  • 10 3
So this is how you deal with an otherwise great offering throughout all season with great commentators, and high quality coverage?

Humility is an important thing, you know.
  • 3 5
@whiteboarder: The filming by Redbull have been bad from the start. Just watch how great coverage one man is doing for vital mtb. They know how to do it.
  • 1 0
 How does Loic do it???
  • 1 0
 SUPER BRUNI!!!

Man, Bruni is a performance beast, but to be the GOAT he needs time

He won't be the goat overall but could end up being the GOAT of World Champs. 2 away from tying Vouilloz for most World Champs wins. Right now he's the 2nd man to only win 5 world champs. Pretty amazing feat already. As great as Aaron gwin has been, the world champs have eluded him his whole career. Minaar is and IMHO will be the goat when he's done.

@moslow: hell yeah Bruni can do better than minaar, and in less time....
