Maxxis Aspen tire review Maxxis Aspen tire review
I enjoy riding fast, rolling singletrack but have no problem dialing up the tech on the steep and rooty stuff that is really common in this area. To that end, I'm always on the lookout for a fast-rolling tire that can hold its line through varying terrain. The Maxxis Aspen falls into this category and I've been running the tire for the past few months to see if it can live on the edge as a summer and fall tire.

It's a wrap. I hear the 'fat lady singing' as the Fluidride DH Cup has come to an end at Mt Hood Ski Bowl in Government Camp Oregon. Project 529's Eric Loney takes the overall win for Pro Men. The Bike Hubs/Loeka Jaime Rees nabs Pro Women's overall and DropNZone's top Junior Expert Bryan Mullen nabs his second series overall title making him the most valuable rookie pro for 2011. Dominating the race was Mikey Sylvestri of Allride/Specialized who won the race with no derailleur and chainless. He won by almost 6 full seconds. Evil's Charlie Sponsel was on his heels, but takes 'first loser'. Mr Eric Loney sliding into a solid 3rd with Evil's Kyle Thomas hot on his tail and Dunbar Cycles' Ken Faubert rounds it off in 5th.

Race Face SIXC crankset review Race Face SIXC crankset review
Race Face has been around as a component manufacturer for almost twenty years, supplying mountain bike parts for all segments of the market while developing innovative new components that hold up in challenging conditions. In early 2010, Race Face introduced its SIXC handlebar and crankset to the mountain biking world and this new family of carbon components was meant for demanding use on longer travel, all-mountain bikes.

Since I installed the cranks on my bike a few months ago, I’ve been putting them through the wringer and, despite a few criticisms, I am duly impressed by the overall quality and performance of the set, which I feel ranks among the best on the market.

Dudes of Hazzard Episodes 1 to 4 Dudes of Hazzard Episodes 1 to 4
The Dudes of Hazzard started a few years ago when a friend and I thought it would be good to make a film for the Fort William Mountain film festival. We kept it pretty light hearted with some riding, comedy and general good times and the film went down really well. At the start of this summer it was time to start it up again and the original name stuck. Armed with a Flip mini HD camera, Myself, Liam Moynihan, James Shirley and Hannah Barnes along with other “dudes” from the Fort made a conscious effort to film the summer's proceedings. It's all the action from between the races, getting there, riding mid week and general banter along the way.

World Championships wrapped up a few days ago, but the interviews and videos keep on coming. The Santa Cruz Syndicate put together one hell of a funny video on their take about the 800 Euro fee required to film at worlds, while Wyn Masters went around the pits to measure everyone's calves to see who really has the biggest legs in DH racing. Once the show was over Tippie was able to grab a quick interview with Gee Atherton, Rachel Atherton and Duncan Riffle. There's only one world champ and dozens of others that walk away empty handed. Here's some of their thoughts.

Red Bull Dusk 'til Dawn Recap Red Bull Dusk 'til Dawn Recap
On Friday September 3rd, 100 Downhill Mountain Bikers, hungry for some vertical, descended on C.O.P. in Calgary AB, for the inaugural Red Bull Dusk 'til Dawn. The concept was simple...From 10pm to 5am solo or 2 person tag team categories competed to complete the most laps of the Downhill course in the allotted time. Due to the on-line registration filling up and closing out early at 100 there were 20 local gear heads begging to be on the waitlist come 7pm, some managed to sneak in. The major twist on this Downhill Endurance event was that it was run at night and only portions of the course were lit.
